*This reel is perfect for me **enjoyable.fishing** recommend the price, the look, the drag. Just a little bit noisy if tension knob is not right on the click. If well ajusted...no backlash ! Love it !!*
I’ve started hoarding the casitas ever since it came to light that they’d be discontinued in favor of the slx. For its price, nothing I’ve thrown has been better. I have a feeling they’re gonna go down as being one of the better $100 offerings in history.
Thanks for the info. I recently bought a Lews tournament, Daiwa R type, and a shimano Casitas (based on your and many others reviews) and have found that casting with the casitas is ridiculously easy! I'm very happy with its comfort level and it just doesn't seem punitive like the other two. I will say I haven't spent much time with them more than about 3 days, but overall it was easily a clear winner to the Casitas. And to be honest I really only had a couple backlashes, compared to many with the others. I will be buying more!
Hey issac, I’ve been looking for the shimano casitas, but I can’t find it anywhere. I tried Amazon, they unfortunately didn’t have it and they said they will not know when they will have the reel back in stock. If you could let me know where to find one, that would be great :)
Unfortunately it is not produced b shimano any more from what I can tell. Try finding one on ebay. Other than that, the SLX has taken over. I've heard great things about it.
Appreciate the honesty regarding your overall knowledge. You didn’t try to sound like a RUclips expert and your information was useful to the average fisherman. I do have one small criticism though. You left the view of the camera numerous times when showing the reels. Not a big deal, just thought I’d mention it, if you plan on making more videos in the future. Thanks.
It has 4 different settings. It doesn't have the SVS infinity breaking system which has unlimited options, but I still almost never backlash or have issues with it. Really light spool, and its really easy to make good long casts. Great reel, but I do think that the casitas it worth the extra $20.
@@drumandball Yeah funny thing, I just bought the Casitas in a 7.2:1 gear ratio, was only available in that ratio. Considering that this will we my only baitcasting reel and I would want it to be versatile, for many lures, do you think the 7.2:1 gear ratio will be able to serve me comfortably for those times that I use medium diving crankbaits that have a certain resistance? Without needing too much force? Thanks
I’ve been using Cheap academy or black max baitcasters, and I’ve been back lashing with light weight lures or just casting into heavy wind, but other than that I can cast well. Would these reels make those light popping corks, or lures that I throw easier and less backlashing?? I’ve just wondered if it was always the reels fault for why I sometimes have poor casting
I've noticed it to be much easier to cast lightler lures after switching to shimano. It seems like it doesn't require as much force to get the spool goin'.
Update: The Curado K is amazing and I highly recommend it. For the $180 price point, i don't know of a better reel. I still believe that the casitas is the best bang for your buck, however.
I have a Bantam MGL HG paired with a Shimano Bass One XT 6'10 medium/heavy fast action rod. I had a cheap 50 dollar Lews baitcaster and i love it but the bantam is on a new level, love it and its my first "nice" reel
I've ran many different reels... till I picked up a Curado 70, and now I have a Curado DC, and a Metanium MGL. I did upgrade my Curado 70 with a Metanium handle and it made an amazing difference
Do you think I should get the curado 200 for $80 or go with the casitas? I can get the curado for the same price as the casitas but now you have me wanting the casitas lol
Mark Lewis if you do a lot of medium or deep cranking, I’d go with the curado due to its increasedbline capacity and larger handles (as well as x-ship). But if you don’t need extra like capacity and deep cranking isn’t something you normally do, get that casitas! You won’t regret it!
I don't plan on using any other brand than Shimano. I've had Lews and Abu Garcia reels. If you are going to get a Shimano reel, I suggest you get ones made in Japan, much better made than the ones in Malaysia.
The curado 70 is still a beast today 3 years later and it still out casted my K, curado DC, casitas, shit pretty much anything that isnt a metanium 13, mgl, aldenbaren, chronarch mgl
Same here...love Daiwa, started out on abu so they’ll always have a place in my arsenal by default but shimano is the best. Some guys don’t wanna hear it but that’s just the reality of the situation. Of all the stuff I’ve thrown, my shimanos have always been the most consistent, best performing and most durable
Ryan The Rock SLX casts like a dream... honestly can’t tell the difference between thag and the critica and the SLX fits so well in my hand. The SLX is extremely light too
I am looking at the Casitas the Abu Garcia Revo X and the Daiwa tatula CT I can get any of those for around $100 you have me leaning towards the Casitas what is your suggestion?
I can't say much about the Daiwa, but I can say with 100% confidence that I would stay away from the Revo X. I had one for a short time and didn't enjoy it at all. The casitas is a great reel, and I truly believe that it's the best on the market for $100, but I have yet to try the Tatula CT out.
Skip the Abu. The Tatula CT and Casitas are both great reels to choose from and would be my choice in this price range. Having both here are my thoughts. Tatula: Aluminum frame - Magnetic brakes - longer handle - smooth - reliable Casitas: Composite frame - centrifugal brakes with fine adjustment - light weight - smooth - reliable The Tatulas aluminum frame feels solid in the hand, the Casitas does not but its only feel they are both tough. The Casitas has fine brake adjustment the Tatula does not. I like being able to adjust the brakes in fine increments but I find I can adjust the spool tension on the Tatula to get the same effect. Both are smooth on the cast and retrieve, but in different ways. The Shimano has a 'feel' during the cast that I love. Very smooth and refined feeling. The Shimano also has a 'feel' during retrieve that is nice and smooth. The Tatula has almost no feel during the cast (magnetic brakes) and has no feel during retrieve which I love. I prefer the feel of the Casitas on the cast and the feel of the Tatula during retrieve. I prefer the knobs, longer handle and cast thumb-bar on the Tatula much more. The Casitas can cast a little further (not much) but the Tatula is more stable with less overruns in my experience. The Casitas is lighter weight. Some rods balance better with a heavier reel but I prefer the lighter weight for all day casting. Both are great reels and its personal preference which you would like more. I have fished both for over a year and still cant decide which I like more, though I would have to side with the Tatula for the way it feels in my hand and the control on the cast. Diawa gives you more for the money IMO. Either way you cant go wrong. There are good deals on ebay. If you need a rod check out the Cabelas Tournament ZX rods on sale now for $80. Best rod under $150 IMO.
Thanks for your opinions I have picked up a Casitas I will look at that Rod sounds like a good deal I will probably pick up the tatula later in the year still waiting for it to get warm enough for me to try out this Casitas. Maybe this weekend fingers crossed
Just like to add. Only 2-3 bearing control the casting (depending on model). Shimano uses very good bb on this area. The rest are not that important. Just good to have.
yeah, shimano's only use 2, a few other brands have 3 on the spool. For line coming in, it's nice to have a few other bearings in key places like on the knobs and a having fully bearing supported drive shaft. If you have a synchronized worm gear, it's good to have bearings on that as well.
Hagane is a rigidity concept, aluminum is all it is most of the time. In Shimano spinning reels it is Hagane concept gear. X-Ship is a dual supported pinion and only a few other companies truly use that. Daiwa reels with "free floating spools" have dual supported pinions, but that's about it.
I have noticed that my curado70 feeks a little more solid in my hand than my casitas. Having said that, the casitas feels extremely light weight and almost hollow, which in a weird way increases sensitivity. So yeah...the graphite is definitely a different feel, but it definitely doesn't feel like it is lacking structural integrity. I still think that of the above reels, the casitas is the best bang for your buck. Graphite has come a long way.
I appreciate the response, I've been looking for a new reel and I love the price of the casitas! Just been doing some research on graphite reels and been finding all sorts of information on them, some good some bad lol.
Josh Dor yeah-some people have very bad things to say about them, but I’m just speaking from my experience. I’ve only had the reel for a few months, so I can’t speak on the topic of durability, but the reel feels great in your hand.
Honestly there is some people that argue graphite reels(some of the better made ones) last longer than aluminum frame reels, so hopefully thats true haha.
I’m not denying the caenan’s awesomeness but man...my bps extreme reel cost me under 100 and has been KILLING IT for years. I’m not sure how much better the caenan could possibly be...
I've come to the conclusion that there are a LOT of reels for under $100 that truly have great performance and quality. From several different manufacturers, too. But I am a shimano guy, mostly because I feel that they cast extremely smoothly and far, while remaining light and very palmable. And they look sick. But I don't doubt that your reel is very similar
i always prefered the green curado e7 vs the silver curado i, with basic maintenance the green machine is still going strong after 8 years. i miss the old pin centrifugal brakes
Casitas if on budget, Curado k if not , I had them all, casitas has outside brake dial. Curado k has better brakes then sitica plus it just feels smoother cause of the pinion bearing, I don't think sitica has it
bought a 13 fishing origin c and a 13 rod awhile ago from academy. After seeing tons of comparisons i plan on returning both and going to bass pro and getting a casitas with a johnny morris carbonlite 2.0
Thats a good idea, in my opinion! I would maybe go with a dobyns fury over a johnny morris rod, but that's just my opinion! If you get the chance, pick em up and feel em in your hand and see which feels more comfortable and light!
Isaac Pelletier well one of my friends already has the dobyns fury with a shimano citica so that’s why I’m going with the carbonlite. Also I plan on getting a Curado k for my birthday in a few weeks, which rod should I get for it ? So far the only two I’ve found that I’d like with it is the Denali AttaX rod or a favorite sick stick
Nice! Im a big fan of the dobyns fury line-up. Also really like the way that Fenwick HMG's are built. Favorite has some quality stuff, too. Dobyns is my go-to, though
Isaac Pelletier hey I was wondering what do you think about the shimano Chronarch ci4 the red and silver one vs a Curado and a Curado k ? Would it be better to get the Chronarch or what ?
great review, your going to have to do a new review on that new curado you won. great job on the win man. subscriber # 94 here. get me back when you get a chance, thanks and take care.
You may be onto something. But I don't own a Citica and I've never fished one before, so I could only really give my opinion on these reels. I've seen citicas on ebay brand spankin' new for $80 lately! Crazy!
the citica is identical to the curado i, except it lacks a low gear ratio option and the bearings are slightly lower quality, if you dont need a cranking ratio get the citica purge and re oil the bearings, now you have a reel that performs identical to the curado i
Yeah, there is a great video of a guy taking apart and putting back together a curado i. Smart to take them apart and clean them thoroughly. They're fairly easy to work on.
I had about 5 curados that I fished fresh water and salt water for 10-12 years I would just rinse and dry, no service no oil nothing. I know it’s not the best way but the older green curados were the shit, these new ones I am not crazy about, got one yesterday I am taking back and getting the diawa tatula 150. I have my sons fishing Lews and those things are amazing I have been fishing Shimano since a kid but this dude is trippin. You can buy 3 lews for what one Shimano cost and my 10, 7 year old sons beat the crap out of them and catch big fish. I am switching over to Lews when it’s time. Way more bang for the buck.
Or you doing something wrong like the angle, No problem do it from under then up. Must be going good, otherwise go to the place where you bought it 👍 succ6 m8

Sorry dude! My best advice for you is to try to make a buck by mowing someone's lawn or shoveling someone's driveway. Then use that money to buy your own!
I got the 200k shortly after I posted this video, haha! It's a great reel! Still don't think it's the best bang for your buck, but it's incredibly smooth and casts a mile.
ddm62571 i got one about a week after I shot the video! I will do an in depth review later, but I’ll say up front that it’s an incredible reel that blows the curado 200I Away!!!
Next time, review your video before posting. Your camera angle needs to be adjusted or you need to learn where your camera is pointing. Otherwise a very good video (for information).
@@drumandball I found it after a week on the bottom, I had no choice I live in Russia and baitcasters are pretty expensive down here (caenan worth me 120 usd) so I had no opportunity to replace it. Hate the fact there's no external dial on caenan...
Warning, do not buy a Shamano reel from a Facebook add, they are all scams.i did, they sent a box with a junk spinning reel, no Shamano bait caster. No recourse, just lost money.
Lews are good, but I prefer Shimano by far. This is mainly because i feel like Shimano's casting ability is more effortless, and their reels fit more comfortably in my hand.
I don't think anyone can really quantify the quality of a reel, as most of it is opinion-based. But to me, shimano reels cast the furthest for their price points, and they definitely feel the most comfortable in my hand. I do like Lew's a lot, though.
I'm pretty sure abu's low profile and some of Lews are made by the same people, possibly an OEM manuf. I finally bought 2 Lews this past summer after putting it off for years because they're basically an unknown. The first thing i do is take things apart and there are FAR too many identical, unique/unusual constructions inside to be a coincidence. ..remember i said unique.

These reels are good for 9-10ft salmon and steelhead rods as well!
Nice comparison, but please make sure items you are showing in your hands are in the centre and in focus.
Yep. first youtube video for this kind of thing. I've learned since then
@@drumandball I just bought Casitas, so thanks
if you loosen the tension knob itll shut easier
SHIMANO FTW!!!!
If you're talking "for the money" i think that reel lineup is skipping the price point model that would take it. ..the Citica.
You may be onto something. But I don't own a Citica and I've never fished one before, so I could only really give my opinion on these reels. I've seen citicas on ebay brand spankin' new for $80 lately! Crazy!
littlegoobie yeah i think the citicas best option comes with the “x ship” feature too and ive heard nothing but good things def gonna scoop one up
Isaac Pelletier drop a link !
the citica is identical to the curado i, except it lacks a low gear ratio option and the bearings are slightly lower quality, if you dont need a cranking ratio get the citica purge and re oil the bearings, now you have a reel that performs identical to the curado i
have you ever had to do service with them I had
My Curado K. Doesn’t let the side plate close easily
Or you doing something wrong like the angle, No problem do it from under then up. Must be going good, otherwise go to the place where you bought it 👍 succ6 m8
Hello Isaac i just saw your video, and this is just what i needed. We live in the mohave desert in the winter, and we RV in the summer. And we need new fishing gear. I subscribed and hit the 🛎 check us out too if you get the chance....how many balboa rings is good,.....ok you just answered that. Lol thanks. We give full views too....
Curado K outruns them all 👍
No it doesn't its quality and water seals suck
I prefer the 70, personally! But both are great!
SHIMANO KEEP IT MAN I would not take take them even free
Raymond Francoeur great, more for me!
So what would you take then, if you say that ?
Please give me a bait casting reel
I have no money for buy this this is my dream reel
Sorry dude! My best advice for you is to try to make a buck by mowing someone's lawn or shoveling someone's driveway. Then use that money to buy your own!
Curado 201..where are you ? 🤔
I got the 200k shortly after I posted this video, haha! It's a great reel! Still don't think it's the best bang for your buck, but it's incredibly smooth and casts a mile.
Isaac Pelletier nice, i got the reel for free at a fishing exposition in a contest if you learn to tune it, its great
201 K you mean, great reel 👊
You should get an Antares DC first
Lol, right after I sell my kidney
No Badass Curado K in the group?!?!? Booooooooo!!!
ddm62571 i got one about a week after I shot the video! I will do an in depth review later, but I’ll say up front that it’s an incredible reel that blows the curado 200I Away!!!
Ha ha, ya man! I just watched your vid on winning one! Congrats to that! My wife got me one as a gift for Christmas. Beautiful reel!
ddm62571 Yeah I love mine. I am not a huge fan of the finish, but that thing performs flawlessly.
Yeah, Curado K rocks 🉐️🈹️🈴️👊👊👊
Casitas ou caenan?
gustavo araujo I’m a firm believer that the casitas is worth the extra $20. Yo can usually find a casitas brand new on eBay for around $70
good lineup
Thank you!
Next time, review your video before posting. Your camera angle needs to be adjusted or you need to learn where your camera is pointing. Otherwise a very good video (for information).
I won’t buy Curados anymore unless they start making them in Japan again.
I sinked my caenan sideplate in the pond
That's not good!
@@drumandball I found it after a week on the bottom, I had no choice I live in Russia and baitcasters are pretty expensive down here (caenan worth me 120 usd) so I had no opportunity to replace it. Hate the fact there's no external dial on caenan...
Abu is best bang for the buck across the board.
Sad to say that a old curado E7 could out perform all these reels
leo pena I’ve never had the chance to fish one of those, but I have heard that that reel is legendary. Wish they’d bring it back.
Hagane is NOT a metal, the body of the Curado is aluminium! HAGANE means it has a metal body!
Steven Kurth yessir! Learned that shortly after posting this video.
Warning, do not buy a Shamano reel from a Facebook add, they are all scams.i did, they sent a box with a junk spinning reel, no Shamano bait caster. No recourse, just lost money.
What was the name of the "company"? I saw an add recently that looked super sketch for curado DC's for like $130
You over looked the Red headed stepchild the “Citica”
I did. I actually didn't know the citica existed when I made this video haha
Isaac Pelletier im going to order 2 this week from .... c f . Com
You should try the shimano caius i think i soelled it right an do a review
Daiwa power
How about just get a lews
Lews are good, but I prefer Shimano by far. This is mainly because i feel like Shimano's casting ability is more effortless, and their reels fit more comfortably in my hand.
I hate lews reels but lews rods are decent
The camera angle is wrong could not see reels half the time.
Gerald Balciar Jr I addressed this issue in the description. Didn’t have a tripod, sorry
Citca
abu is awful, but lews and shimano reels are equal
Robby McDonald what do you mean fam
Abu is awful how? I’ve been using their reels since the early 90s and they’ve been among my favorites
manifestgtr Robby is totally fanboying it. Ignore it! I also have a Abu reel. One of the best reels I've ever owned!
Nice Bc reel my friend ✌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤩🤩🤩
