Thank you for singing, while teaching others to play the guitar chords. It adds so much, and it encourages others to live a little and sing too. Great song writers like Petty somehow allow us to share in their genius in this surreal way….and your interpretation just proves that.
THIS ISTHE BEST tutorial on Learning to Fly! I am particularly grateful for the slide portion. I am 78 years old and even I can understand and do all of this, although not quite so well as you. Thanks so much!
I promise u in the future when I start working I will support your patreon page,I have learnt many of your songs Johnny b Goode, Michelle, Georgia on my mind, hard times, what I'd say,all of them were easy to understand, thank u for your hard work, really appreciate it
Great lesson clearly explained and covers all aspects of the song for guitar. It's especially good to have the melody lines and solo tabs which are so helpful. I look forward to more song lessons.
Hi Rob, your polish is very good, i' m from southern Poland i live near Katowice I asked you for this song because it remainds me my father he passed a few years ago and thing is no one has done the lesson for this song yet Your tutorials are really useful and great I bought a nice guitar recently and i decided to improve my skills now i' m i could say an intermediate but somoene else has to judge 😊 sorry for my poor english i' m selft- taught semetime i use translator and i'm quite an old man now😊 Greetings to you and your wife Have a nice day Leszek
wow bro thank you!...im trying to fix my bad habits I picked up early on. For example I think ive learnd the G chord all wrong. For some reason I always use my index for the A string and middle for low E. Now I realize the error of my ways by not using my middle and ring finger for the bass strings so i can keep my index ina better position for this transition. Simple chord progression really but super fun and easy to jam over. I know what I need to practice now lol
This was an amazing lesson! Thanks for making it so easy to learn! I was just wondering if you could tell us where the tone/volume settings were during the electric guitar parts? Thanks!
Very informative video, I immediately bookmarked it for future reference. I have a question about the electric guitar part starting at 0:43. What effects did Campbell use to get that smooth, round, and flangering sound you hear in the record? Thanks a lot!
I originally learned this as a very beginner song from Marty Shwartz with a simple switch from C and I think it was F Sharp by a small move of the same shape up a chord. This version sounds more full but I have to admit I was having hell with the 2010 101 part the first half was easy the 2nd was harder for me. I played it as slow as I could for a few mins but cramps burning and thats a wrap for me Ill try again in a for days.
Great stuff brother . Right to the point and note for note . Keep the Tom petty lessons going . If you could do a lesson on kings highway that would be amazing
Hi Rob! Can you do please a tutorial for ,, I jak ci tam w tym niebie" by great Lech Janerka could be without lyrics only chords and licks thanks regards from Poland😊
I have already sent the songs I ask you. but in case it didn't work I will send it here: "Julia" "Dear Prudence"If I feel" and "Girl", all of them from the Beatles. Thanks
Hmm, I’ve never thought of it as a suicide song. Songs are up for interpretation though. This is a quotation from Petty, about the song; "I think i was coming to grips with the view that you can be optimistic, hopeful and as good a person as you want to be, but its not going to make life simple for you. Nothing will. You can have all the success you want and its not going to make your life-really your personal life-much easier than anyone else's. The song was also influenced by the Gulf War. It was written during the time the war was breaking out, everything was very grey, and there were burning oceans and oil fires. I was disappointed by the war and the attitude of the American people. I certainly didn't blame the soldiers for going there, but I felt that few people wanted to challenge the Bush administration on its lies. It was a bad time and I really think it influenced the tone of the album” ~T.Petty
