Omg, I'm a single mom and always fixing my sons mini bikes. I changed the clutch on a coleman and it wasnt so bad. Now on his mossimo bike, a new one, couldnt figure out why it takes off. No videos on it. So it was stored for a year. Now this summer he wants to ride it and luckly i came across this video. Thanks you so much for posting. I will check if this solves our problem.
Good luck you are the best mom for sure and I hope he has a fun safe time riding
Got my grandson a new Axis M200 bike for Christmas. It looks like it has exactly the same engine as the Coleman in the video. Seemed to be idling high, so I tried the fix suggested here and it worked perfectly. Took 2 minutes and now the 11yo can ride without me worrying about the bike taking off on him. Thanks!!!
Same bike. look at his manual. LoL
In mine there is a tan camo Coleman haha, can even see where it says Coleman in one of the pics.
Besides the engines are the same yes.
This is EXACTLY what my KT1986 go kart was doing. Eating through belts like crazy. Finally someone who knows how to do the repair and put the actual title in the video. Thanks
Gonna leave a like, gonna try this out on my bike tomorrow! Been looking everywhere on how to fix this issue and this is the only video I've found.
Same
Good luck, hope it works for you!
Same here, fitted the Stage 1 to the Massimo Warrior, and know I face the issue of the bike lurching forward on start-up. Noticed the that the accelerator spring is stretched already, removing almost “floods” engine and it battles to start.
@@kbssmallenginerepair2615 Good Video, I'll probably try it, BUT, I have a weird issue....
Coleman CT200U-EXStock, will not run unless the Choke is on or partially on, like Mostly on, but not all the way, and when I move it to off the engine dies....
Any ideas???
I saw this, tried it and guess what….IT WORKED!!!! Simple solution for the “idle adjustment”. Thanks for the video!!!
Thank you sir. Just bought one for my son for Christmas and within 2 days had the exact same problem. Stretched the spring a little; problem solved. Thanks!
Excellent, glad to hear it worked for you!
Mine happened a month after buying it second hand. Go figure
buyn one 4 my grandson this month 4 xmas
@@kbssmallenginerepair2615 ty 4 video, buyn one 4 my grandson xmas this month
As a recent mini bike owner (BT200X), this was a life saver...not perfect, but still...then i swapped out the stock carb, based on your HiPA vid...
of course it wouldn't idle...because i had mangled the throttle return spring }:~ i'm learning...rather than trying to 'fix' the carburetor,
i replaced the weakened TRS with a new one from a 'throttle plate parts kit' and...the bike runs better than ever...the new HiPA carb is
a BIG improvement...the stock bike idled too hi, surged periodically and was just not as easy to ride/control...thanks to you and others
on the net, i can tackle this stuff with some confidence of success...
Got my kids the b200r and was doing the exact same thing. Thank you for making this video. Made it easy to adjust and pin point. Thank you sir!! Kids are enjoying it as we speak.
on behalf of china we want to thank you for correcting are crappy carb thottle configuration we were to busy making virus's to corrrect this design flaw
Gonna Give it a Shot thanks For a Nice explanation of what could cause the issue👍🇺🇸
I hope this fixes our bike. Same issue. I don't know why your video was so hard to find when I was searching for videos on how to adjust the carburator. Once I searched for replacing the carburator, your video came up. I'll let you know though. Thanks for the info.
I unhooked the spring while trying to stretch it. But it unfortunately didn't help. I feel the idle is way too high. I'm gonna mess with it a little more, but I think it needs a carburator with an idle adjustment screw.
It's hit and miss. Some of them just scream all the time. I would start with a different carburetor.
Man had I have known about this trick it would have saved me from buying aftermarket carbs haha!!! Most of the time when its a brand new clutch and it still happens, its a cheap knock off from Amazon. Very nice video and as a mini bike guy, I found it to be very informative!
Thanks Ken! I am glad you approve! I almost called you on this one to pick your brain a little. Figured you must have a more professional or secret fix. lol
This helped me so much i was trying to figure it out for like a week
I sorta felt like this was common sense. I also had this problem when I tried to shorten the spring in between the throttle so it wasn't so stiff. I ended up removing the spring that is factory and in between the throttle and replaced with a tension spring instead to pull it back rather than push it back. So much smoother throttle.
Great video. I have 2 of these exact models. One creeps, the other doesn't. I'm going to go adjust that throttle return spring on the creeper. Right now. Thank you!
Excellent, hope this works for you!
New bike bought on weekend . Started it and took off the choke and it sent me across the garage. Thank God my kids were not on it. Going to try this on the weekend. 8/16/2022
Dude u just saved me from having to tear my bike completely apart the engine is brand new and i couldnt figure out why it kept wanting to take off
I'm with Rusty I want one and now I know how to fix it ! Great catch man 👍
Thanks Bill. I would love to see you guys scootin' around on them. Reminds me of that movie wild hogs...but on mini bikes. lol
My mini bike burnt up a brand new clutch because of this issue. Thanksfor the tip
Thanks for the information. This helped me understand how the idle works. Thank you
Very informative. I have the exact opposite. Monster moto 80cc stalls, won't idle. Non adjustable carburetor.
Great video! I’m having the same issue. Can’t wait to get home and try this. 💪👏👍
Nice video KB. That could be a dangerous situation for a child. Sad that Coleman would sell something that was a potentional liability issue . Would have been easier to have made the carb with an idle adjustment. 👍🇺🇸
Absolutely! There have been many issues with this. It is a very dangerous situation and I don't like it one bit. I don't know why they went away with the non adjustable carb. It was a very recent change.
@@kbssmallenginerepair2615 The non adjustable idle screw is probably some EPA mandate. Not sure when that started but I know others have been complaining the last couple years about the non removeable main jet. The jet can be removed with some work but most guys just buy a new carb. Those engines run lean to start with and many want what's called a stage 1 kit. It's a header pipe, open element air filter and a larger main jet. This is needed when they want to run higher than 3600 RPM.
I would have troubleshot that differently because those springs are all identical and shouldn't need adjusted. There's something else going on there even though stretching the spring worked. The purpose of that spring is to hold the throttle on the carb open while the engine is off. This way the throttle is open to start the bike with the choke closed. Once the choke is opened the governor moves the throttle on the carb to the idle position. If the throttle cable is out of adjustment and the manual throttle is partially opened then the governor has 2 spring tensions to overcome and will idle higher. The throttle cable would be the first thing I would have checked for that issue.
Excellent stuff , great video , heading out to the shop to do this ,
Very nice mod , mine was doing the same ,
Too Cool 👍😊
Thanks Jason, hope it worked out for you.
Good job. I wonder how many people changed the clutch because of the governor spring adjustment. I enjoyed your video 👍
Thanks Gravelyman. It is a very common problem so you make a good point. Probably lots of good clutches thrown in the trash...
I have a little pit bike which I had to replace the throttle cable on, but now the throttle won't even function. You have to take your hand on both sides to apply pressure. The customer is also missing a return throttle spring for a Tillotson Baja 97cc. I've tried looking for return springs, but they look pretty long.
Great job Kyle. FYI that dang muffler is Hot !! Lol Love it, simplest things first.
Thanks T-Bone! That dang muffler will get you everytime! Just hate to get caught doing it in front of the camera. lol
@@kbssmallenginerepair2615 Glad ya left it in the video brother. That shows what we really do and what happens. Awesome as always. Gonna check out your new one in the am, I can't wait, I know it's a good one.
Them bikes look like fun, rusty had a ball on one. Great repair and vid.
Thanks Fixit man! It was fun to watch ole Rooster ride one for sure!
The power of RUclips thank you
Thanks a bunch man! You saved me alot of bother, from NZ.
Oh yeah baby! Nice fix on that one brother! Keep it up man.
Thanks Mr. Sarge! I sure appreciate those kind words!
Throttle control screw is the black screw on the back side of the carb
Mine is doing the same thing I'm going to try it and see if it works
Great video, it has helped me and I have shared it with many about the same problem.
Thanks, I tried it, and it fixed the problem
Thank you bro I just got my first mini off marketplace and this was scaring me
i can adjust the idle on these bikes i wonder why a small engine repair shop cant. he must be youtube certified
I adjusted mine by going up to the handlebars at the throttle and the cable in the threaded tube with the jam nut, just screw the tube in or out and lock the adjustment with jam nut...Also, go to the other end and cut the return sprig and re-adjust the end cable...It takes out the slack in the hand twist...
When you cut the return spring on the throttle cable it shortens the return, because with the spring compressed it restricts the length of the throttle plate return leaving it to idle higher...Shorten the spring and readjust the slack in the cable, using the cable tighten screw on the engine...I hope this makes sense...
That is not the governor return spring. That spring just keeps the slack out of that linkage. If your linkage doesn’t have any slack in it you could take the spring off. Not sure why this would even work.
I tell you what tho, mine is doing the same thing and the sticky clutch makes it really hard to keep the front tires down haha
Good video. I'm having a different problem. After going wide open throttle and cutting it down to half throttle it will sputter slightly. After doing this a number of times, I got a backfire on the next startup. I think it's running rich? Is there an air fuel mixture screw?
I have the same minibike and I’m having a problem. It turns on good and everything but when I’m going to give it gas it turns off can someone help me what could be the problem?
This seems like a common problem and your video is the fix? I just bought one last night and it has the issue. Can't wait to get off work and try!
That’s definitely wrong all u need to do is lose the the nut on the throttle cable by throttle bar and unscrew or screw it adjust the idle
The throttle cable should be the first thing checked.
What he did here is a work around. These engines are nothing new. The exact Honda designed throttle arrangement has been used for decades on Honda GX and every clone that followed. I have six of these engines, two of them on Coleman bikes and never seen this issue. The Honda designed linkage system works perfectly, unstretched spring and all.
Video starts at 9:30
I have the same problem. When I rotate the grip throttle, the rod & spring doesn't move back n forth. Ideas?
I hsve a issue where the return spring for the carb i konda bend it but fixed it but now i start on choke but when i slide to run it idles weird and wont take off
If u back out governor screw besides this governor spring what else should be done to keep motor from shutting down now governor is still in motor I just backed out screw to have more throttle but I need to know what else i need to do an get untill i take out governor.
I bought my Colman CT200U minibike new 8 years ago. put about 5 miles on it and stored it in the barn for the past 8 years. I got it out of the barn yesterday (7/4/2024). The gas tank was empty and free of any contaminants. I removed and cleaned the carburetor. Changed the oil. New gas. It started right up when choked, but went full speed when I opened the choke. I took off the spring like you instructed, but it still runs wide open when the choke is off. Any suggestions? Thanks.
same smh…
I have a question I adjusted my idle speed just by taking all the slack out of my throttle handle adjustment and plus just a little bit and not my throttle is tight and shorter of course which is nice but now it idles good and doesn't die after sitting for a while. Now what I'm wondering is if that is a proper way? I noticed before it would idle higher when cold starting which is fine but now I wonder if it's gonna idle too high on cold start next time i go to start it I guess I'll find out lol but just thought I would throw that out there that it's always something to check as well if that's too tight it will take off or not idle well. Even though it's kinda a work around instead of messing with the throttle spring and all that
I have a Jang Dong mini bike that has this same problem. I sprayed the clutch with WD40,but still does the same thing.
Hey dude I have a Axis M200 off-road but it won’t start. I haven’t rolled it or anything it just won’t start. The oil is good the gas is good I’ve checked everything it just won’t start.
My son got one of these bikes and there is a little flame shots out of this little hole around the carb not sure how to stop the flames
Hell yeah man thanks for this video im looking for triste problem for so long now i no what to do i though my clutch was stock
For this trouble****
I'm watching this because when I got on my minibike today my mini bike did a wheelie when I barley gave it gas when my dad got on it it did the same thing
THANK YOU FOR SHOWING THIS !!
Mine takes off but the idk if it’s the spring. When I give it gas that piece doesn’t open open or close. It didn’t used to do that but it sat for a while and I changed the carb and now it does that. Put the old carb back and still does it ..imma try this tomorrow but any other suggestions?
Thank I just got one and the bike took off by it self in idle
I have the same problem but my mini bike would run and the stop after pressing on the throttle
my minibike throttle has no snap back, so when i use the throttle and i go, if i let go of the throttle it won’t stop, it also has started to take off on me when i pull start it. It also needs to be given gas in order for it to start, if i don’t then it will not start running. I have no idea how to fix this, will this solve my issue?
This a predator engine? I have the same issue with the 212cc motor..soon as I start it the klutch takes off
Thanks for the info. Great job
Thank you so much man this is gonna help alot
Good video thank you
I purchased a used monster moto mini bike.
The engine is surging for fuel when choke is off. Warmed up of course. I think this is a non-adjustable carburetor because the only thing that looks like a air fuel mixture screw does not have a head on it to adjust. Do you have a workaround on this?
Couldn't see a thing he was doing and I gotta get this thing to idle and not run any tips
I have a bt200 Coleman when I take choke of bike will shut off and it won’t idle
Not sure if anyone will respond but I’m having the same problem with my 212cc predator engine and I would try this but I removed the governor and it’s contents. Any solutions or suggestions?
Thanks it worked
THANK YOU!
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks my man! I appreciate you watching!
So I removed the throttle spring and it changed absolutely nothing..... brand new clutch also...
How do I replace that spring and the bar it’s on?
Nice info.. quick question
My mb200 mine bike i was riding it only 3 months old and left me stranded 😆. About a block away fro the house.. starts fine and I can see the shaft moving, I thought it was a clutch so I replaced it.. won’t move when giving throttle but was five before.. has not messed with it since i bought it.. all spring are there. Is there anything I a missing that I know know or do I need to go further in the engine
Any feedback would gladly appreciate. Thanks
Very helpful vid
This help me a lot
Got a Coleman BT200X. Wheel turns when I start it. Tried you spring adjustment still turns . Any idea what to look for next. Tks
I got the same problem with the a predator 212cc please help
Nice video my bike idles weak, and didn't move until half thottle? Can it be adjusted, please help?
Never worked on a mini bike. But seen that before on other equipment.
Yes, I guess it could be applied to any small engine....
I tried it and it was still doing the same problem, how would you fix it if it was the clutch. Could you possibly make a video of how to fix that please.
I have the exact same problem but when I takeoff the spring it there’s nothing anybody know why
Just bought one and had to put the new fuel screen in. Reasonabled it and now it want to take off just like this. Also my black throttle does not move when off and rotating the throttle on handlebars... weird?
I got a ct200u and it jumps as well can I do what u did
So what exactly did you do to adjust the idle ..?
My bike pops a little when I give it some gas. Is it too lean?
Great video. What is the unit you use to verify RPM?
I stretched the spring out but maybe i stretched it too much cause now my bike won’t turn on someone help :(
Thank you
I just governor removed and my bike will start up and idle but every time I accelerate it dies
Do you have any suggestions on fixing this problem with an aftermarket Mikuni VM 22 carburetor? Thanks!
Great content but please dude get to the point it would be really nice tho if you went back at the end and went into details but thanks you definitely saved my butt on this one
Hello nice video, when I try to start the bike with the pull start, the tire in the back spins when I pull start the bike, what do you think the problem is.
I have a similar issue with a mukini 22 on a predator 212 stage 2racer kit. While sitting on a lift at start high RPM and rear wheel 🛞 spinning fast.
I have a normal 212cc predator but still didn’t fix it
Awesome bud thanks
Any videos or suggestions on throttling it down for kids?
What should I do when I have a 28m nibbi carb and it takes off when starting
Can u pls pls show how to properly tighten the rear tire for it to be smooth but chain not lose pls and thank u I subscribed to ur channel love the video man keep it up
Thank you. I will work on putting a video together as soon as I get another bike in.
I ruined my spring, I have a new one but the throttle rod that the spring is on looks pretty tricky to remove any ideas
after a weekend in the desert i tried ripping the bike back at my property and it seems like it’s shaking a little harder and rougher than before on hard acceleration. I oiled the clutch and it doesn’t seem to be too dirty any ideas?
I would clean and lubricate the chain, and sprockets. Make sure everything is moving freely and there is not any buildup anywhere.
Ayy man i have the same one but mine has a few problems I put the choker and turns on but once I switch it to run normal and give it a bit of gas it turns off
Is it brand new, or older? If it is only running on choke, you are having a fuel delivery issue and likely need to replace the carb. You can try cleaning it but you will not be able to pull the jets out to properly clean them.
