Something that always amazes me is how I'll always see new little pieces of dialogue here and there when watching a new playthrough regardless of how many I've seen. Like I had never seen that Rudinn at the Rouxls Caard post-cutscene or the sink joke in the Warrior's hospital room. Crazy how Toby has made some games that just feel really special each time you play them through. Also I kind of forgot how real and atmospheric the hometown section is, it's really great writing to be able to make things emulate real conversations you swear you've had before. Maybe that's just me having grown up in a religious small town though lmao

'Don't Forget' is such a lovely song, i love the choice to have actual singing in the credits, makes it feel extra special, like the real acoustic guitar in 'Undertale' and piano in 'Last Goodbye'. Toby really knows how to make an OST hit i really loved these episodes (especially some of the edits in this one haha) and i'm so excited for more if you play it!!

I've played this game through several times, and watched many more, and I only just now realised that the letter creatures at the very end spell out B O O B. 🤣 Oh Toby Fox. 🤣
While you missed a few things I still loved this playthrough, you seem really invested in this world! 1:27:23 fun fact: these character carrying everyone here are unused enemies. Also, during 1:44:00 Alphys has an opposite opinion about the mew mew kissy cutie seires than in undertale. In the deltarune world she prefers the more dark and mature story of the second game. It's probably because in this universe she isn't in a seemingly hopeless situation of being stuck in the undergroud, therefore she's more interested in a scarier and exctining setting Can't wait to see your reaction to chapter 2 and eventually the rest of the game. It has so much potential! 👍 Btw there's technically no problem with using undertale/ deltarune music, it's just that youtube's copyright system kinda sucks and the company managing these game's OSTs is famously weird when it comes to this stuff. In short some time ago the ceo randomly attacked a fangame for "not licencing" their music even though Toby himself openly has no problem with fangames and even allows for use of all his music in videos. I can't get too deep into details here, just know that you are free to use undertale/ deltarune music but there's a chance youtube will put a copyright issue on your video (you can ask for it to be removed and it should work in your favour)
Amber's a bit spoiled, because she gets to play Undertale blind and then play Deltarune soon after! And (hopefully) it won't be _too_ long until Chapter 3 & 4.

The symbol that keeps reappearing (which reminded you of Navi) is called the Delta Rune. Its a very important yet mysterious symbol to the monster population. It also appeared in Undertale.
Kris is just not a fan of us (the player) controlling them, I think. But they did act in their own, for example when they protected Susie at the end of this chapter.
Y'know, it seems like such a throw-away line, to the point where I totally forgot about it, but when Susie finds Kris and Ralsei in their prison cell, Ralsei says _"... so that's why, OK, Kris?"_ I don't think this comes up either in the rest of Chapter 1 or Chapter 2. I wonder what Ralsei told Kris. Could be something like a flashback to what was said waaaaaay later in future chapter. Now I'm super curious.
There's actually a bit more to that: In the second chapter Ralsei will suggest imagining what is happening at the ferris wheel, and will do his best to persuade you to do so. Once the scene over there plays out and the view returns he ends a conversation with a similar remark. People speculate that he might be aware of the player watching, and has motivations hes deliberately hiding while you control kris.

i've been so excited for this ever since your UT let's play- which is still one of my favorites of that game to date! i love how earnestly and openly you approached it, and watching your reactions to all the big moments and little details with so much enthusiasm and wonder really reminded me of how special of a game it is, even now that it's approaching 9 years of age. but back to the topic at hand; if you ask me, DR is truly in a whole other league. chapter 2 is when things really start picking up, but the character arcs in chapter 1 are soooo satisfying. i remember bawling like a baby at the susie VS lancer standoff, and i'm so glad you ended up warming up to her as much as you did! some people get really hung up on how susie acts during the first half of this chapter, and while i can't really blame them, there's actually quite a few hints that susie herself isn't having the best time at home either. (her ravenous appetite (pica disorder?) doesn't really bode well, for one. she also seems to be afraid of people and/or badly socialized- if what we heard from monster kid about the ball incident is anything to go by- and that's probably why she prefers to interact with people by assuming the worst and putting on a tough front. she's super interesting!) various fun facts: -someone might have mentioned this in the comments of episode 1, but gerson boom is the turtle that told you about the DELTA RUNE back in undertale! in that game, the DR is a symbol of the royal family, which represents the angel (the "navi" shape, as you called it) descending unto- and emptying- the underworld. this "emptying" of the underworld is fulfilled in both of the major endings of undertale; in the pacifist ending, all of the monsters are freed from their prison and flee to the land above. in the genocide ending, the player kills everyone and renders the underworld just as empty - this myth feels especially potent in DR (the game), with the small town entrenched in religious references (the angel in rudys hospital room, the dreemurrs and especially toriel being devout followers of the local church, etc) that will probably tie back into the themes that the game has already displayed (but that i'll avoid mentioning in too much detail, so as to let you piece those together for yourself) - the reason you got from the closet to the abandoned classroom is actually kind of obvious once you realize that there is another door earlier in the chapter's dark world, which also closes and locks behind you. right next to the door in the real world lies the purple checkered mat, representing the plains/forest area. to get there in the dark world, you passed through the big golden door- a door ralsei was unable to open, but susie opened all on her own, proving to ralsei that she is a "hero"- which closed behind you as soon as you passed through it. interesting - toby fox has mentioned that he will not be making large scale merchandise (like plushies) of any of the lightner characters (susie, kris, etc) but that he's cool with merchandise being made of darkners. this, combined with kris' "possession" and UT's commentary on clashing player VS character agencies, raises some very fascinating questions... - as you may have suspected, the "dog working on a game" in the library is a self-reference by toby, whose online avatar is the little white dog from UT this turned out super long, i could ramble about this game for hours... but i'm super excited to see your reactions to chapter 2! (not to mention the rest of the game. whenever that comes out)
I'm not sure you did this, or if you noticed this, but when Kris throws their soul into the cage, you can actually move it around a bit in the cage. This lines up with the fact that Kris is possessed by us (the player), and that the soul is us, separate from Kris.

Amber! Please try the secret boss, but also there is a small secret at the area with the flying bird thing. (where you go back and find the original starwalker the first time)/ What you have to do is go out the east exit and then you go in and out of that room over and over. Eventually you will trigger the secret when you go back into the starwalker room. Check be hind the tree you see in this new room for the secret. I'll let you figure the rest of it out, but just finding the secret is the first part. Looking forward to chapter 2!

This actually makes even the "best" route feel weird for me... Looking at what other characters said, Kris is probably not the nicest kid. Imagine how it's like to regularly be taken over by an external force, and No One Seems to Notices, Including Your Mom. Worse, _They All Like The Impostor Better._

My theory has been that we the player possesses Kris. Someone else in the comment section has already mentioned that the heart which Kris rips out and locks in a cage is something we can control.
This actually makes even the "best" route feel weird for me... Looking at what other characters said, Kris is probably not the nicest kid. Imagine how it's like to regularly be taken over by an external force, and No One Seems to Notices, Including Your Mom. Worse, _They All Like The Impostor Better._

i mean true but it's not that obvious for a new player (nor is it that common for games to distinguish between the protagonist and the player on such level), so while I get that we're all excited for theories and the lore, let's be more patient with people who only got into this game! otherwise it comes off a bit condescending
