Never stop joking that's what makes your reactions enjoyable as well as your reactions to Classic Who which i'm always down for watching.
Dr. Who was originally intended to be an educational program as creator Sydney Newman insisted that he didn't want any bug eyed monsters or anything sci-fi but it was the Daleks that made Dr. Who an instant hit and became one of the most iconic villains in science fictionn history despite their pepper pot appearance the creature inside and their racial purity and destruction is what makes them terrifying without them i don't think this show would had continued passed 1963 the Daleks is what saved the show.
During filming of part 2 that week the cast and crew were actually intense and in shock about the news about the JFK assination but the actors managed to to stay in character especially when you notice where William Hartnell fluffed one of his lines where he says "They may had been anti-radiation gloves" then corrects himself to "drugs".

The Doctor was originally conceived as a "Captain Nemo" type: scientifically minded but suspicious of strangers and the outside world. The Doctor kidnapped Ian and Barbara because he was afraid of being exposed. But in the end, they all became friends and the Doctor was sad to see them leave. (In the "The Chase" if you're interested.)

I want to see companions exits and entrances so I guess I'll be watching the chase when the time comes

      @R52177 Месяц назад

In that case, these are the ones you'll want to see:
"The Dalek Invasion of Earth" - Susan leaves
      "The Rescue" - Vicki joins
"The Chase" - Ian and Barbara leave, Steven joins
(The next few comings and goings are in episodes that are missing and haven't been recreated in animation yet.)
"The War Machines" - Dodo leaves, Polly and Ben join.
(Again, "The Highlanders" which introduces Jamie McCrimmon, often considered one of the best companions, is missing.)
"The Faceless Ones" (animated recreation) - Polly and Ben leave
"The Evil of the Daleks" (animated recreation) - Victoria joins
"Fury from the Deep" (animated recreation) - Victoria leaves
(Same deal for "The Wheel in Space" where Zoe joins)
"The War Games" - Jamie and Zoe leave (Bonus: The Doctor regenerates)
"Spearhead from Space" - Liz Shaw joins
"Inferno" - Last appearance of Liz (her absence explained in "Terror of the Autons")
"Terror of the Autons" - Jo Grant joins (Bonus: First appearance of the Master.)
"The Green Death" - Jo Grant leaves
"The Time Warrior" - Sarah Jane Smith joins (Bonus: First appearance of the Sontarans)
      "Robot" - Harry Sullivan joins
"Terror of the Zygons" - Harry stays behind.
"The Hand of Fear" - Sarah Jane leaves.
"The Face of Evil" - Leela joins
"The Invisible Enemy" - First appearance of K9
"The Invasion of Time" - Leela leaves.
"The Ribos Operations" - The First Romana joins
"Destiny of the Daleks" - First appearance of the Second Romana
"Full Circle" - Adric stows away...er, joins.
      "Warrior's Gate" - Romana and K9 leave
"The Keeper of Traken" - First appearance of Nyssa
"Logopolis" - First appearance of Tegan (Bonus: The Doctor regenerates)
"Earthshock" - Final appearance of Adric.
"Mawdryn Undead" - First appearance of Turlough
      "Terminus" - Nyssa leaves
"Resurrection of the Daleks" - Tegan leaves
"Planet of Fire" - Turlough leaves, Peri joins
"The Trial of a Time Lord: Mindwarp" - Last appearance of Peri
"The Trial of a Time Lord: Terror of the Vervoids" - First appearance of Mel
"Dragonfire" - Mel leaves, Ace joins.
      That's about it... 😀

It's hard to imagine now but the Daleks scared the pants off people back in the 60's, the dread in that darkened tv room terrified adults and children alike. It took the Weeping Angels to finally match that dread.

20ish years since the end of the WW2, so it was well within living memory, the DALEKS were designed to be like N*z* Germany. That's why they were so scary.
Plus not many sci fi shows like this back then.

@@Darkly_i_Shine Ha! I never thought about it in those terms, but that sounds about right.
Regarding the Doctor's age, there are going to be times when you will wonder where all that time went. The Second Doctor will say he's 450 and the Fourth Doctor will say he's 749, yet we the audience and his mostly human companions seem to always be with him. One must assume that he would take off for years at a time in between serials and do his own thing and then return to his companions without them ever realizing.

"How do you know that they're hostile?" Because one of their arms looks exactly like a submachine gun? If someone has two arms, one is a weapon and the other doesn't even have fingers, I don't think that they do a lot of card playing or knitting. 😅

Once when the BBC reshowed this story, I knew I friend was watching as well. We got the overdramatic DALEK dying scene and I nearly choked from laughing, then the cardboard DALEKS showed up and I was dialing my friend number so quickly, turned out they were dialing me so the phone didn't even ring all you could hear was me and her laughing so hard for like 3 mins. Definitely do "The Edge of Destruction" as that's only two episodes anyway and it reaches a full circle with the characters which you don't want to miss out of context.
"Marco Polo" was the next story after unfortunately that doesn't exist anymore as it was wiped by the BBC thankfully the soundtracks of it do exist.
I'd would say do the whole thing in order starting from the fifth story "The Keys of Marinus" because it helps maybe getting into the characters more and an attachment to those characters and since there's 97 missing episodes out of 253 episodes from the black and white era you'll probaly get through it quickly anyway there's 17 complete William Hartnell stories in full out of 29 stories and 7 Patrick Troughton stories out of 21 stories but yeah if you don't want to do that then yes definitely look into "The Aztecs" after "The Edge of Destruction".
