Your roommate might have filled you in on who the guest stars were this episode, but just in case: *The long-haired bearded guy, Mark Boone Jr., played Bobby on Sons of Anarchy *The bald guy wisecracker is comedian Bill Burr, who famously makes fun of Star Wars and the fandom in his acts (which I have not seen, but have heard about.) *The devil looking guy is Clancy Brown, who is in a shit ton of things, but I remember him best as the bad guy, The Kurgin (spelling?) in the first Highlander movie *The female Twileck (spelling?) is Natalia Tena. You may know her as Nymphadora Tonks in Harry Potter, or as Osha, the wildling who helped Bran and Rickon go north in GoT. *Zero, the robot, was voiced by one of my favorite BritCom actors, Richard Ayoade, best known as Moss in The IT Crowd. *Other notables: Matt Lanter (VA for Anakin in most Star Wars animation) played the New Republic soldier that hit the switch when killed, and the X-wing pilots were 3 of the show's directors. ** I consider myself Star Wars casual, but I'm a big "I know that face" got to look it up person

"How do you know that they're hostile?" Because one of their arms looks exactly like a submachine gun? If someone has two arms, one is a weapon and the other doesn't even have fingers, I don't think that they do a lot of card playing or knitting. 😅

The dalek invasion of earth then after that watch the rescue and after that one watch the Romans because there is a scene which shows that the first doctor knows how to defend himself.

Commenting to boost you. Dalek Invasion of Earth is important for so many things, as is The Rescue. The fighting was limited because this season was shot on video in one take, even if there were bloopers to save money. Video tape was expensive. I'm really glad to see your Doctor Who journey.

I really like planet of giants. TBH season 2 is one of the best seasons/series of doctor who out there imo.

The Sensorities, then The Dalek Invasion of Earth and you can finally jump ahead in season 3 if you like. Unless anyone in the chat has any recommendations but only ones to stick to the lore as you said. I just wanna make it easier for you without having to go through so many fillers. S2 has waaay too many stories in my opinion. But season 3 has like 3-4 stories. The Ark, The Gunfighters(optional) and The War Machines (My fav) The only serials in season 3 that’s lost/unwatchable is Daleks Master Plan and The Celestial Toymaker. Last one has now become animated, but tbh with you not one of my fave stories. It’s fine but it’s one of those stories that starts like a bore-fest at the beginning but at the end it gets interesting.

Bahahaha.. completely enjoyed you giving Barbara the bizness the entire serial! Aztecs is very much of its time of recording, but I do like that even back then The Doctor and Ian were trying to get her to understand that it wasn't her place. Also, I've read that Ian was meant to be the action man since Hartnell wasn't able - hence the unnecessary fight scenes to spice things up for the family audiences. The slow fights are funny by today's standards, but I look at Classic Who as filmed stage plays, rather than television episodes based on the extremely low budgets and the way in which they wrote, scheduled and filmed. The awkwardness (and part of the early charm) of scenes come from the fast rollout schedule. Of course, this is my head canon that is based on things I've read in the past and I am more than comfortable being corrected on my ideas. PS - cute hair change in the 2nd half! I just shaved my head again ala Sinead O'Connor (which I do every few years) so I'm enjoying not worrying about hairstyling at the mo', but I love what you've been doing with yours!! Looking forward to Dalek Invasion..

The Sensorites are a good episode before the DALEK invasion of earth. See Susans character actually develop a bit plus the Sensorites are related to the Ood. There planet is apparently in the same solar system.

Susan wasn't in this story too much because Carol Ann Ford was taking a holiday at the time

Planet of Giants (the story immediately before Dalek Invasion of earth) is a cute little story. Not essential - but good fun!

The Doctor was originally conceived as a "Captain Nemo" type: scientifically minded but suspicious of strangers and the outside world. The Doctor kidnapped Ian and Barbara because he was afraid of being exposed. But in the end, they all became friends and the Doctor was sad to see them leave. (In the "The Chase" if you're interested.)

bahahaha! fun edit for a freaky movie. since you like dark comedies, I'd like to recommend a few from the genre to check out. The movie "Idiocracy" is a scarily accurate take on what America could become. I'd love to see a reaction to that if you haven't seen it yet. "Future Man" (I haven't seen the last season) probably leans more toward raunchy than dark (though it is that too) was a surprising delight. Probably too long for a reaction investment (34 episodes) but maybe a show you watch on your own time. (it won't bring in new subs.) I'm drawing a blank on anything else at the moment, but looking forward to Select Classic Who, Strange New Worlds and The Mandalorian reactions
