    Just so you know. The Classic Who episodes run for either 4-6 episodes. Some of these you may wanna watch by youself with how many there are. But for someone who is still a newcomer. Just got into the third Doctor… These are the episodes is how I got into Classic Who…
    S3. Galaxy 4(optional) Daleks Master Plan (lost story but optional), The Ark, War Machines.
    S4 The Tenth Planet, The Power of The Daleks, The Moonbase, The Macra Terror (My fav), Faceless Ones, The Evil of the Daleks
    S5 The Tomb of The Cybermen, The Ice Warriors, The enemy of the world, The Web of Fear (A Definite Watch), Fury from the Deep, The Wheel In Space
    S6 The Dominators (Amazing), The invasion, The Krotons, Seeds of Death, War Games
    If you noticed how I delisted The Underwater Menace, Abdominable Snowman. These Stories are not important.

    "Pull to open" the telephone compartment, not the door. The telephone is for "public call," so the instructions on the sign are meant for the public. The door is for a policeman, not the public, so the instructions don't apply to it.
    Moffat got that wrong.

    First Doctor: The Daleks, which is the next episode after an Unearthly child. Also for the first Doctor- “The Aztecs”. For the second Doctor, “the mind robber”, and “tomb of the Cybermen”. Third: “spearhead from space” (regeneration story), “Terror of the Autons”. Fourth doctor- “robot” (his first episode, abd “Genesis of the Daleks” which ties into newer Who more than any other classic episode. And please keep in mind these episodes rather show the time in which they were made. However much is the same. I’ve put in episodes that might tie in to nuWho or give you a feel for the doctor. Some episodes have slow pacing due to the time period but it’s amazing how much they show the doctor is always the doctor. Ian and Barbara really helped change him, and it’s the first time we see he needs humans to soften him. And yes, Susan screams a lot. When she finally left, I cheered. For my ears’ sake

    Obviously The Daleks next. The 75 minute version may be more accessible from todays perspective; but,honestly, I would give the original 7 part serial a go. Get used to Classic cliffhangers,and classic pacing.

    There'a a reason the first doctor can't steer.
    Gallifrey has "the eye of harmony", made from a black hole, that acts as a power source and navigational beacon (universal lighthouse) for all the Tardises. The Doctor muffled the connection when he left so his Tardis gets power but isn't sending transponder data back to Gallifrey reporting its position (so they don't immediately know where he is), but that means he's not getting data either so the GPS navigation is offline, and he has to navigate by dead reckoning, which he has not yet learned how to do and it's kind of tricky at the best of times.
    Ordinarily a Tardis works a bit like an elevator, punch in your destination and it goes there automatically. He's giving it offsets from his last known position, but everything's constantly moving and the time vortex has currents that send you off course. So it gets to its destination and then lands in the nearest reasonably habitable spot, which isn't always a planet.

    The problem you're going to run into with the first two Doctors is that a lot of the "important" episodes no longer exist. they were erased and they haven't had animated reconstructions yet. Luckily, thanks to the Whovian fan base who was obsessive even back then, the original sound recordings from every episode still exist. Those sound recordings are what they base the animations around.

    • @stevenmcmullan409
      @stevenmcmullan409 2 месяца назад

      And speaking of important animated reconstructed episodes, The Celestial Toymaker was just released as an animated reconstruction, and given the characters recent appearance in The Giggle, that one should qualify as important. However, it's not available to stream anywhere yet. You would have to purchase the disc.

    I'm not going to judge which are good ones, but, for important ones, for the first two seasons, I'd call out The Daleks for introducing the Daleks, The Dalek Invasion of Earth for the introduction of Daleks being able to leave Skaro and the first companion departure, The Rescue for the next companion being introduced, The Space Museum for having temporal shenanigans as part of the plot for the first time, The Chase for introducing the Daleks' time-travel capabilities and having the next companion departure, and The Time Meddler for being the first pseudo-historical (being set in Earth's past but with sci-fi elements)
