As a Giants fan, I still love to listen to clips of Hawk. He's almost like a random Sox fan who gets to call games.

  • @SirGhostly
    @SirGhostly 11 лет назад +566

What is wrong with being biased? He's an announcer for the white sox why shouldn't he root for his team? I'm a lifelong yankees fan but I watch a lot of replays and hawk is one of a few announcers that really stood out because of his emotion and catch phrases.

SirGhostly there is a limit to how biased you should be like when west called a balk it was a balk yet he’s saying how he should take a break and even though it’s the right call

As a White Sox fan, who was born in, and has lived all but 5 years of my (nearly) 40 years on this earth, in Chicago, IL (and its bordering suburbs - Cicero, Berwyn, Oak Park), I am truly touched by all the non-White Sox fans who give due "props" to Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson for his unique style!
I would like to thank you for appreciating a truly great and one-of-a-kind MLB announcer!
A very special and heart-felt THANK YOU!!!, from "the Windy City"/a.k.a. "Second City"! from a humble Chicago Sox fan.

As a Dodgers fan I like Ken because of his enthusiasm and his home run call is just unique. Too many announcers these days are just too plain and that's why a lot of people think baseball is boring. But I got my friends to listen to Vin Scully and they were blown away by his stories and stats which really got them engaged into the game

The guy was absolutely something special. I listen to the ninth inning call of Buerhle's perfect game every now and then. It's like a shot of excitement and emotion and love for a team and it's players all wrapped in one, and he did it in as few words as possible and made every word mean something. Hawk was what a hometown announcer should be.

Hawk is a legend-- as a cardinals fan I put up with similar uhh eccentricities to Hawk with our long time radio broadcaster, Mike Shannon, who in his later years was tough to listen to. But announcers like this reach icon status for one reason, the raw emotion that comes through in their calls born out of their legitimate fanhood of the team they're announcing for. Awesome stuff, what a guy.

He's one of those announcers that's absolutely horrible, that he's entertaining to listen to. He isn't good by any means whatsoever. But he's special.
Oh, and no, I'm not a fan of the Cubs. Go Tigers! I'm not the hugest fan of our booth either. But if you want good commentators, my favorite ones are the Giants, Rays, and the Nationals. I also do like the Cubs booth, for the record, because while enthusiasm is a good thing, being a jackass isn't. My favorite radio booths are the Mariners, the Indians, the Tigers (I do love Dan on our radio broadcast), the Giants, and the Braves.
I don't like how anyone who dislikes the culture of the White Sox is suddenly a "hater" with no reason for their dislike. Get over yourselves and maybe start showing up at the games instead of fighting with people on the internet.

Regardless of the way you feel about Harrelson; that play by Buehrle is remarkable and the epitome of him being a terrific baseball player.

Honestly, the best calls were the whole games. During the lulls, dude always had a story to pull out of his ass to share. He remarked on good things he'd seen from the players up without getting too much into stats. Then when things were not so dull, he showed fire and passion and hometown energy. What's not to like?

    Man this guy is UNIQUE!
Everyone is super progressive these days but they want their baseball to remain untouched and "boring". They like Vin Scully but they cant take a guy like Hawk Harrelson.
95% of his dialogue is nothing but kudos, credit, and good things to say about other players and the last 5% are talking about his own guys on the field
He's super critical of his team and VERY supportive.
Yes, he's a homer, but he's the one guy who can pull it off largely because of how much respect he gives other.
When Kerry Wood retired in 2012 Hawk went on a 5-10 minute rant about Kerry, his wife, kids, and his life and how much he respected him and the Cubs.
People just like to hate, but Hawk will be going into the HoF and i cant wait to see them bitch about it hahaha
