I just found this video and was so happy that I did. I needed a way to close a heavy weight, large corded pillow and this was the perfect solution. I have been sewing for years and have even taken an upholstery class but I learn something new all of the time. Thank you for the instructions. The pillow looks great now!

Love your tutorial on how to finish sewing the pillow close. Wish you might do another one on cutting it out and sewing the trim on if it does not involve trade secrets for you. My two kids think since I quilt I can sew a pillow, not so. This will be my first time sewing 4 pillows, have been putting it off as long as I can. Thanks and Happy Holidays to you and your family and employees

Oh wow! i love hand sewing but have never left several stitches loose before pulling them taught, defo going to from now on as shuch a perfect finish with no pulls in fabric, guess that is also due to stretching case with pins onto wood? genius. I do a lot of cartonage (spelling??) sewing fabric onto boxes, and this will be sooooo much neater on my edges. Thank you SO VERY VERY MUCH for sharing these brilliant tips. Stay safe from Lisa in UK

Hi Mark, this stitch is called the ladder stitch. Sometimes doctors will use this stitch as well!

Mark, I was directed to your channel by your daughter who also has a RUclips channel. I'm glad to have found this channel because I am a sewer who also attempts to reupholster furniture.

I have a 26 year old helper I’m training to replace me in the next few years. This is not a dying trade. Thanks

Didn't like the ending of the stitch. Always backtack . Magic marker? not good in the long run.

I agree there’s a much better way to finish off……..make a knot and pull the needle out a good way from the stitching give a little tug to hide the knot and cut the thread. Fabric marker a definite no no…….
