- Explore The Towns Of Martha's Vineyard Martha's Vineyard is an island in Massachusetts seven miles off the coast of Cape Cod. The only way to get to the island is by ferry or by air. The Island is approximately 96 square miles, a bit triangular in shape - 25 miles east to west, and about nine miles north to south. Amazingly, the population goes from about 20,500 in the off-season to 200,000 in the summer. Although the population has grown significantly over the years, the Island prides itself on its land management and success in creating permanent open spaces for everyone to enjoy.
You won't see a fast-food restaurant or a big box store on the Island as preserving the local character has always been a top priority of town governments and residents alike. You also won't find any traffic lights; the maximum speed is 45 miles an hour. There are six towns, and they all have their unique attributes and character.

Martha's Vineyard looks lovely as its reputation would suggest. It sounds like the island is a bit bigger than I assumed if there are 6 towns and 20,500 residents. But it looks like a great place to visit and explore. Thanks for taking us along!

We've always wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard. It is just beautiful. Love all the old houses. The Seafood Shanty looked so tasty. What an iconic lighthouse. Don't ya just love watching the boats? Danny, wake up. LOL. I used to have one of those typewriters in our bricks and sticks. Our youngest daughter got rid of a lot of stuff. Looks like ya'll had a great day there.
The food is great there. And very expensive. We love watching the boats. They are so beautiful on the water. Danny does not have a problem getting his naps in. Lol. Maybe you can get another one for the cabin. 😁 Have a great rest of your week.
