a high end car audio build and no tech specs and detail? that quick look of the diagram wasn't helpful at all, just made me wanted to know more of what's actually in the system. like what did they use to tune the system? what DSP if there is one? active 3 way or passive? since they seem really high end maybe even custom built crossovers? we'll never know. not even a total system RMS just for the show off points. c'mon now for us car audio guys, having no detail on high end builds is like some one coming up to the track/strip with a Honda civic with a v8 swap, but won't pop the hood, so you don't even know what kind of v8 is in there.
its nice. may be the best he has ever seen. passive crossovers? no time alignment? not a modem its a vpn.... lol. also the longest explanation of cellular roaming.
Any of the systems that are wining best in class at any IASAC comp. Just because it's cost in no object doesn't mean it's the best ever. The fact that it seams to lack simple things like a DSP which let you compensate for the horrible "room" that is a car. While you can have a good system without a DSP to have a truly world class top of the year setup you need one.
It’s a cool teaser video, but I don’t think that’s what The Drive intended. If you’re going to put the word Audiophile in the title, be prepared for that community to show up and school you on all the ways you could have better produced the video and content. Leading with the very bold claim of “best ever” car audio system is sure to raise some hackles.
Wow, this audiophile car sound system is truly a masterpiece! The attention to detail and craftsmanship are evident in every aspect of its design. I love how they incorporated premium materials like carbon fiber and aluminum into the build. This would make any car enthusiast proud to own such an impressive sound system. Great job, Inside Ai Design!
As an audiophile, I can confirm that all of their equipment is very high end. Those amps are some of the best in the world, I almost bought their smallest one for my car. And the speaker drivers are top class - perhaps not the absolute best, but very near it. I've heard them before in a home audio system and they blew me away. Bar none the best paper cone drivers in the world.
All these “experts “ giving their 2 cents about what speakers to use make me chuckle. Anyone who have done/built a system know it’s all about the install which looks spot on. The custom heavier doors and reinforcement is critical. Looks amazing and I’m I know scan speak will hold its own with the other brands listed in the comments. Looks awesome great work
VPN is a collection of software speaking together. A modem is a physical device that has a landline or cellular connection out to the world. This dude lost all credibility trying to make it sound like one can replace the other.
@HAMMER if it's not using a modem, then it's not connecting to the internet... it's running something along the lines of a LiveU solo to handle that side of things
Scanspeak 12mu mids, Scanspeak 6600 aircirc full format tweeters, 22w revelator woofers. Pretty standard stuff for higher-end builders who are willing to tap into home HIFI drivers.
Spotify calls 320 kbps high res audio? Anyway, I would've gone without any propietary stuff like Spotify and used Music Player Daemon or one of the products which are based on that.
I'm no sound genius but for everyone saying he didn't specify components, I understand it's probably because it's such a short video, highlighting and detailing the brands he uses and explaining why theyre the best would prob take too long and go over MOST people's heads. He did show the blueprint which showed exactly what he used to those audiophiles with a keen eye. All y'all had to do was press pause. Component selection was on point. Claiming it as the best sounding, though, is a very bold statement.
Having seen and owned several high end car audio/audiophile systems, who judged this system, design, and crowned it the best? Based on decibels, distortion, resonance, power... ie: watts, volts, etc. How loud it can play cleanly? Without any any numbers, or actual specifications, it’s impossible to say this is the best. I’ve seen and heard some of the best. What’s the breakdown of subs, component speakers, tweeters, amps?
THE DRIVE: Very nicely done, interview. Matt: Great 'as detailed as one could expect' explanations of the parts you were able to cover. I learned a lot. Thank you all.
I can tell you this is a man that has NEVER been to a car audio competition or he would have never said it was the best LOL Not even close to being the best buddy !!!!! Very good even above average but most would not consider it eceptinal or even great.
Well you're a bit of a dingus, You can add your own music files to your spotify library at home, which can then be streamed, lossless from any device. And at 320kbps ogg vorbis, you're not gonna hear the difference anyway.
codcdbp yup I design loudspeakers, my stereo speakers and amp at home would set you back around 10 grand for the gear plus another couple in room treatment and tuning if you were to buy it from a store. I can't tell the difference between cd and Spotify HQ once they're running at the same volume through the same DAC. And Spotify shits all over my vinyl as a source, that's using a rega planar 3 and meridian phono stage. My calibration mic couldn't pick up a difference between Spotify hq and cd, even close mic'ing the tweeter, there was no significant differences in the waveform, whereas at normal Spotify quality there was a visible and audible difference.
If it was ever possible to build the best system ever, it would have been done and over with. Best is an opinion, and it doesn't start or end with rear channels being important.
Big claims, i have no doubt they sound amazing but best in the world? How about the magic bus? Where can i hear one of these escalades in florida. I use tidal 24 bit high fidelity music and its much better than youtube or spotify
DeftonesFan867 i came from reg. RUclips and i am really impressed. Playlist are great and when you play a song you can go to the album it is featured in and also tidal has exclusive songs not out in other platforms. Now the only down so far is the $20 a month 😂 which i will keep paying until competition gets better quality
Daniel Draghici sorry but we've been doing that stuff for over 20 years now. Its nice but without any proof to back it up it's a tough pill to swallow. I've got close to a dozen cars in the mid East that I'd gladly put up against this. Several that are bullet resistant G wagon tanks.
Well keep in mind sound is also at times debatable. Some people love tons of bass and terrible balance, some love 2 giant speakers, other prefer 20 surround ones, etc. Feel free to post pictures and videos of your work.
Guys, Please, Stop, if you're going to try and be the best at this, and advertise yourself as the best, don't use drivers with a qts of under 0.3 without an enclosure, those doors are an absolute joke. In fact, I can't see any enclosure design beyond "make it rigid" anywhere except the subs. Which is fine, as long as you have really good DSP and drivers with a suitable QTS value, but you have neither of these. By the looks of things you pointed to the most expensive drivers in your catalogue and decided they would be best because they are expensive. When in reality, these were some of the worst drivers you could have chosen. Can you please rename this video to "How to waste 50 grand via the dunning kruger effect, twice" Also, I nearly threw up when I saw you were doing DC > AC conversions and running audio gear off it.
From what I'm hearing, you can play high-resolution music files stored on a computer or compatible media device using your phone as the remote through Spotify Connect? I use Roon, Tidal, and a Synology NAS with VPN
I don't understand why the speakers are in the doors instead of in front of the listener, move the rear seat back and have a more traditional top notch two channel system in front of him, of course integrated into the interior as well. Not really a criticism, these guys obviously do beautiful work, just curious about the placement of the speakers.
I think the idea was to keep it looking fairly stock so they bulked up the doors and frames to hold the speakers, added lots of sound dampening materials and put the speakers where they fit in the doors. Ideally, you'd have them in the windows at ear level, but that wouldn't work with thin pillars and all the glass there...You also have 3 rows of seats, so it would only sound good for one of them if you just threw 2 big speakers in the middle. Between that and vibration/noise when driving, you just can't have perfect audio in a car.
Daniel Draghici the ideal position for speakers is not playing directly at your ear. You want them out in front of you, anyone decently experienced in audio would know how important it is to get speakers out in front of you in the perfect location. Even if three people we're sitting in the back the speakers should still be out in front of them. Look at any high end two channel speaker exhibit in the world, the speakers will always be in front and ever so slightly toed in toward the listener.
thomas locatelli You're probably referring to having a concert like experience, but that does not apply to movies or anything with surround sound as 2 giant speakers won't cut it. There's a reason new cars have 20 speakers or more in some cases. If you have all your speakers in the front, there are seats blocking the rear passengers and weird acoustics due to waves bouncing all over before getting to them. In the rear, the only thing in front of you is a seat, air, glass and pillars, so you can't hide or integrate them well unless you have ugly floating speakers taking up room. There's just no perfect setup for a car, there are too many variables to consider...
thomas locatelli Maybe I'm not understanding your point. You just mentioned ideally putting speakers in front of you and I explained why in a car with multiple seats and heads above the level of the speakers you need more than that. Even if you're at home with nothing between you and your speakers, for movies you'll generally want something around or behind you as well since you may listen to more than just stereo music.
"Best system ever" Then uses jl speakers and woofers. This isn't 2001 anymore guy. And w7s were overrated then..let alone now. Install itself looks good though but most car shows across noth america will have 1 or 2 cars better than this
Yup, and a pair of them wants about 3 cubic feet sealed. Seems about perfect for a car door thats treated well since the door is a minimally leaky sealed enclosure..
Apicella Auto Sound but they're not minimally leaky at all, doors model like ib, not sealed, in my experience. I bet the total q is miles away from 0.7
thedog556 lol, you're an idiot, different cone materials have different properties, paper is no better or worse than metal/ceramic cones. Also, have you never listened to scanspeak revelators? I'm going to guess no, I'm going to guess you've never listened to a pair of hifi speakers costing more than a grand, let alone the 10k plus you would need to spend on a pair with revs an illums all round.
High res audio, Spotify? Isnt spotify compressed audio where you lose clarity and some sound quality because of the compression. If he only would say yeah he play all his high res audio via bluetooth.
Eh that technical explanation shows that 1) Network configuration isn't nearly as complex as he makes it out to be and 2) he isn't an IT person at all. :P Like you can hook up 4 4g modems to a raspberry pi and configure it accordingly with openVPN server at home it can connect to.
Earl Zausmer 540i, Richard Clark/Speakerwerks Grand National, and a few more back in the day that these vehicles could not even be in the same block in Sound Quality arena.
Cant your reporters get any more information from these people? Are they even interested in this story because holy shit was this underwritten and underplanned. No questions with any technical details at all...I mean cmon I know most people dont care but without that info the video seems very empty and informationless
Not sure what he is trying to say about the audio out on iOS devices. They put out the same digital stream as most any other Hi Res player, the only exception being DSD which is output as DoP, but with so little actual digital content available on DSD, its not really a deal breaker for most. iOS devices easily plug in to a high quality DAC like a Chord, or a Mytek or even a PS Audio. While the quality of the install is amazing, the digital side of the system doesnt strike me as the best. I also question the Durability of Vacuum Tubes in a mobile audio install. i am sure that the vibrations in while on the road will not help the tubes sound better, or help the filaments last longer.
Btw: the Client is the “Napster Guy” (you figure out who that could be)!!!! I have seen this 2 years ago while the car was in the early stages of the build, at the time “Ai Designs” was one of the first companies to use a giant 3D printer to print car parts! Impressive!!!
Thats exactly right. His name is Sean Parker. He is worth about 2.5 billion. He invested heavily in spotify to help it grow, and he is on the board of Spotify. Hence why he is using spotify connect.
If you are looking for the best sounding systems while Steve builds great and impressive systems he wouldnt be the person I'd immediately think of for this. Scott buwalda would be the first person I'd call
Pretty sure we all know a guy who could this in less than half the time. The next model revamp will be out before that’s even done. 6 terabytes when the customer likes Spotify.
"Best Car Audio System" streams off Spotify. 🤦♂️ A system is only as good as the weakest link. Would be the same as putting supermarket fuel in a formula one car.
A video about a high end audio system with half of it spent trying to explain (not very well) how VPN's and routers work. Where is the rest of the video?
What is the point of a Super sound system if you are using spotify? Also why so much complexity to sinc your playlist when spotify already does that? and its very simple...
upload the full interview please, 6 minutes is wayy too short for this kind of thing.
what this guy said
"Was that it?" 🤷♀️
Where's the rest!?
Ai Has a video on their channel about this build with a little but more info: ruclips.net/video/V9GXh9rHWug/видео.html
6 minutes was to long for this crap. 2 years, get out of here
Maybe not the *BEST* sounding system in the world, but solid component choices and the install work is killer! 💪
aye what’s up watchjrgo 👋
a high end car audio build and no tech specs and detail? that quick look of the diagram wasn't helpful at all, just made me wanted to know more of what's actually in the system. like what did they use to tune the system? what DSP if there is one? active 3 way or passive? since they seem really high end maybe even custom built crossovers? we'll never know. not even a total system RMS just for the show off points. c'mon now

malvarez1991 It’s always hard to judge how nerdy to get. We can do a follow-up with more detail. Anything else you want to know?
THE DRIVE upload the full interview !
AI Design is notoriously secretive sometimes. Particularly with defense systems and cannonball cars....
THE DRIVE maybe an article by mr Roy would be fitting
David Steinhour The R8 Blackbird..... :)
This video is definitely lacking detail......
Joel Foreman right! this whole video is like the intro to what the video should’ve been
It told me enough. They got the rides right.
So what you’re saying is, this isn’t the best video ever done on any channel, you know it?
its nice. may be the best he has ever seen. passive crossovers? no time alignment? not a modem its a vpn.... lol. also the longest explanation of cellular roaming.
ctrhenry It's an ad basically, he talked alot but explained nothing.
Passive? 10,000 hours and not even active..... I would never have guessed.
I'm sure it sounds incredible though, but I'm unimpressed with that detail.
I am more then 100% certain their are far better systems out there!
If money was no objection I would stuff a pair of Focal Grande Utopia EM Evo in my car. Would top this setup by far.
INSTINCTXIV False
marksapollo Like what
Nice input

This is almost more impressive from a networking and IT standpoint than the audio technology side.
you just gotta love when just the labor for the audio installation cost more than the vehicle, and all audio equipment combined...
A+ marketing bull$hit
Bullshit*
How did they get all the video footage of the Cadillacs if they are ok opposite sides of the country? Did they ship them to NY just for this video?
secret222 or maybe they just did the interview right before they shipped them out
Wow, this audiophile car sound system is truly a masterpiece! The attention to detail and craftsmanship are evident in every aspect of its design. You can see it on the car blueprint. They used tru amps, scanspeak revelators speakers.
Scanspeak 12mu mids, Scanspeak 6600 aircirc full format tweeters, 22w revelator woofers. Pretty standard stuff for higher-end builders who are willing to tap into home HIFI drivers.
Not even Utopias.....
I can't wait till the SMD Escalade is done!🔥
It will probably sound better for 10% the $$$
LOL, the owner has 6 TB of high res music onboard yet listens to Spotify? *facepalm*
armorgeddon It’s Spotify Connect. It uses the Spotify org system to call high res audio files from the cloud.
Oh ok, that makes more sense then. Thanks for clarifying!
THE DRIVE which are still only 320 kbps. At that point an iPhone with an aux cord doesn’t even hinder quality
Spotify calls 320 kbps high res audio? Anyway, I would've gone without any propietary stuff like Spotify and used Music Player Daemon or one of the products which are based on that.
you really didn't watch the video or pay attention, did you?
0:05 wow what a modest statement from a super humble person...
I love that somebody is getting a $10k sound system installed in their Marauder.
Installing a high end computer that could use TIDAL Masters seems like a better idea.
I agree. Tidal masters would give a much better sound then anything Spotify could put out
It's called a DAC, not a media controller. The music coming from the iPhone is a compressed file, nothing to do with the signal.
So all of that and no audio demo?
I'm no sound genius but for everyone saying he didn't specify components, I understand it's probably because it's such a short video, highlighting and detailing the brands he uses and explaining why theyre the best would prob take too long and go over MOST people's heads. He did show the blueprint which showed exactly what he used to those audiophiles with a keen eye. All y'all had to do was press pause.
Component selection was on point. Claiming it as the best sounding, though, is a very bold statement.
Doesn’t even have a @soundmanca iPod dash kit. Pffft
Now we're talking
where is russell when u need him
russell probably has a better sounding system in his geo metro...
What 3D printer did you use? 3D Systems 3D printer?
I freaking glee'd when the video started!!
How old is the actual interview? Going to the naim website, the NDS is already discontinued.
Anyone know what software is being used to generate the audio diagrams? I need something like that to help me layout a full 12V DC system.
What do they use the stratasys for?
THE DRIVE: Very nicely done, interview. Matt: Great 'as detailed as one could expect' explanations of the parts you were able to cover. I learned a lot. Thank you all.
What he's saying probably sounds better than the actual system
What was the head unit used?
Those door panels alone probably took 100 hours of design. Give us more!
I can tell you this is a man that has NEVER been to a car audio competition or he would have never said it was the best LOL Not even close to being the best buddy !!!!! Very good even above average but most would not consider it eceptinal or even great.
Stopped watching after Spotify was mentioned
What, you thought they were going to install a vinyl player in the back?
Well you're a bit of a dingus,
You can add your own music files to your spotify library at home, which can then be streamed, lossless from any device.
And at 320kbps ogg vorbis, you're not gonna hear the difference anyway.
codcdbp yup
I design loudspeakers, my stereo speakers and amp at home would set you back around 10 grand for the gear plus another couple in room treatment and tuning if you were to buy it from a store.
I can't tell the difference between cd and Spotify HQ once they're running at the same volume through the same DAC.

cant wait to see the rest, this is amazing work, thank you!
milaadf amazing but no where near “best”

I don't think the audio source is the impressive thing, but the soundproofing, fabrication of all the parts holding the speakers, the setup, etc.

2 years? My audio shop here locally could knock that out in 2 weeks lol
What! No Demo?
This project in Matt Schaeffer Hands. Would have been Out of this world
So by the time you finished this car what you did was already out dated?
Nice build though.
Like why is this 6 minutes?

Please,

Also, I nearly threw up when I saw you were doing DC > AC conversions and running audio gear off it.
That's great, but we definitely need more. Just the sound dampening work must have taken forever.
Track id at the start?
No demo?
From what I'm hearing, you can play high-resolution music files stored on a computer or compatible media device using your phone as the remote through Spotify Connect?
I use Roon, Tidal, and a Synology NAS with VPN
The music playing?
Did you say 3 years?
Spotify is not lossless. So why would you feed it in this system?
JL Audio W7 ftw! I love my pair of 13.5's
I WANT TO KNOW MOREEE!!! This is such a tease!

Rich person spends hundreds of thousands of $$$ for best audio system....... Streams compressed music at 160kbps hahah!
amishterrorist17 Spotify is actually 320 ogg
At least it's not off RUclips lol
6tb of lossless music. Spotify to control it. Not source it.
Its Sean parkers cars... The guy who made napster... Go figure
Justin C. Tidal does 4 times more than Spotify
Why not Tidal?
gotta admit, those JL subs in this build hurt me the most. "no expense spared..." except for the only two subs in this build lol.
"Best system ever"

I also question the Durability of Vacuum Tubes in a mobile audio install. i am sure that the vibrations in while on the road will not help the tubes sound better, or help the filaments last longer.
Im glad he went into detail. Geez mayb we r not allowed to know
Anyone else drooling?
No... Just me?
OK, good talk 🤤
Btw: the Client is the “Napster Guy” (you figure out who that could be)!!!! I have seen this 2 years ago while the car was in the early stages of the build, at the time “Ai Designs” was one of the first companies to use a giant 3D printer to print car parts! Impressive!!!
Ding Ding Ding lol at 5:08 you can clearly see their names on the screen haha
Thats exactly right. His name is Sean Parker. He is worth about 2.5 billion. He invested heavily in spotify to help it grow, and he is on the board of Spotify. Hence why he is using spotify connect.
Matthew Smith “to think that we had Napster back in the day thanks to this guy and his buddies”
very cool interview
I'm a big fan of JL audio for bass, but 2x 10W7 in an a no expense build? Seams odd. Throw in a few 12 or 13w6's IMO. Heck, even a 13W7
I wanna work there
2 nice one’s.
Navigator black lable will be great with this kind of stuff inside.
I love that they are identical
That owner is at such a no fucks given level, he wants his perfect car, but also travels between coasts, so let's get 2
Car Battery can't provide high fidelity sound. But great job!!!!
Who is the person this was done for? I’m assuming a rapper or maybe NFL or NBA PLAYER, or perhaps a movie star? Maybe a business mogul? Just curious
DownassMusic Wrong, Napster’s Sean Parker
"its not even a router, its a VPN"
like its some mythical technology...
Made by people that have never heard of Steve Meade
If you are looking for the best sounding systems while Steve builds great and impressive systems he wouldnt be the person I'd immediately think of for this. Scott buwalda would be the first person I'd call
Steve does nice installs but anything he's done is far from high end.
Steve Meade... hahahahaha. No...
Doug aka SoundmanCA I'd say. Pretty impressive stuff 😏
Ambiguous Dreams Yes he does. Can’t stand him because of that.
Pretty sure we all know a guy who could this in less than half the time. The next model revamp will be out before that’s even done. 6 terabytes when the customer likes Spotify.
Today I learned no one has ever played Spotify through some 10W7s before, lol
Oh,, please,, more vids like this,,, and longer too,, so nice to see oldschool thinking amongst all weight-reduction-go-faster-videos,, 👍😍
Hybrid Audio Technologies' CEO Scott Bulwalda's car holds the record score in SQ!
Spotify?
Why gm don't work with thes guys install bigger better touch screen systems in some gm cars trucks and crossovers
Sad that it was put in a Cadillac. I wonder if the preserved the plastic leather.
No specs?
Hello can I work there lol
I need my honda to be like that 😍
"Best Car Audio System" streams off Spotify. 🤦♂️
A system is only as good as the weakest link. Would be the same as putting supermarket fuel in a formula one car.
A video about a high end audio system with half of it spent trying to explain (not very well) how VPN's and routers work. Where is the rest of the video?
Amazing.
Is this lyor Cohen's builds?
This guy does NOT know what he is talking about.
Either that, or he's NOT going into detail on purpose.
Any way I can have the last 6:48 of my life back? What a disappointment. There has to be a longer/more in depth version right?
He always was clever! I know, i watched him grow up!
What is the point of a Super sound system if you are using spotify? Also why so much complexity to sinc your playlist when spotify already does that? and its very simple...
Mayweather??
