@@passport3763He specific is congratulating the creator of the airflare which was Pablo back in the 90's. If your interested in learning who created the move please google it.
Most bboys have shit form and technique when it comes to moves like flairs and windmills or halos legs bent feet dragging even whe i did flairs and halos i did them legs way the hell out there and did it with out bending my legs or feet scraping the ground infound it easyer to do sevril flairs into halos with proper form vs half ass and loseong the momentum due to keeping legs bent and feet dragging
awesome to see a professional gymnast do airflare in his routine, i was expecting someday airflare would end up in the olympics since its a very acrobatic move and it fits in very well.
As an 80's/90's bboy & a gymnastics coach, the Air Flair was originated by bboy Pablo Flores of Soul Control. Any move adopted into gymnastics should be credited properly. Trac 2 of StarChild La Rock used gymnastics in his bboying so the 2 artistic forms of physical expression will continue to influence each other forever. Bboys will add flips and tumbling into routines and hopefully gymnastics will incorporate moves like 1990's on Pommel Horse or floor exercise.
i don't understand why everyone doesn't just enjoy the video... there are many aspects of breaking and gymnastics that can benefit both passions. Okay so gymnasts did some moves before breakers and breakers did some moves before gymnasts but we should be respecting each art and appreciating the sharing or ideas as it increases our expression. That is my view as a VERY basic gymnast and similarly basic breaker.
bboys did not "steal" flares because bboys know the origin of the flare move, and it was from a gymnast, we all know this and we respect the creator for it. what hurts me the most is these professional announcers and gymnasts are starting to use the airflare without knowing its roots and ackknowledging who did it first. PAULO NUNEZ was the first person and bboy to do the move. give respect where its due.
cool that gymnastics has something to learn from hip hop. Nice to see the move out there, just wish the announcers would have mentioned where it came from.
finally the bboy culture can be proud to give something in return to gymnastic discipline we were in debt with kurt thomas now we`re even. larga vida al bboying all around the world
@KyleHAHAHA Okay, what? Flairs (not "flares") were invented by/named after Kurt Thomas, a gymnast from the 1970s. I'm not sure why the accepted spelling of "air flare" isn't "air flair," but that's beside the point. Anyway, there is no gymnast named "Thomas Flair," although that is the name of his skill.
@BuddyAMP Indeed. It was the "flair" that Kurt Thomas put on circles. A "flare" is something you put on the side of the road next to a car accident, lol.
USA Gymnastics, this move came from bboying. Anyway, gymnasts learned it recently, bboys have very old footage of airflares, there's no way this guy could steal the credits.
I don't think anyone is trying to "steal credit". Bboys have certainly invented a lot of "gymnastic-like" moves in dancing, but a professional gymnast can learn any acrobatic, breakdancing element. Not every dancer can learn gymnastics movies. The fact is, these gymnasts are professional athletes who train 6-8 hours a day and compete internationally. With all due respect to street dancers, there is simply no comparison when it comes to potential and ability. Yes, bboys invented flares, airflares, and windmills, and yes gymnastics does copy these moves. But you'll notice that a gymnast will invariably perform the moves better overall (perfect toe point, legs straight) because they are scored also on form, not just difficulty. How many bboys point their toes during an airflare? Not many!
captainbryce1 You don't even know what you're talking about. Bboys invented flares? Yeah right, if you actually knew your facts you would've known that a gymnast by the name of Thomas Flair invented the flare. Gymnast compete internationally? So do bboys dumbass. Before you go replying on other people's comments, please make sure you get your facts straight and correct.
tom2000136 Hey asshole, yes I do know what I'm talking about. Kurt Thomas invented the "Thomas Flair" correct. However, while that was the original variant of the flare, it was bboys who popularized all of the different variations of flares (including the airflare) since then. And it was gymnastics that later incorporated these moves (spindle flares, windmills, airflares, etc) as part of floor routines. As far as bboying competition goes, it's fucking dancing battle idiot - it's not an international "sport". There is no single regulated "world championships" of breakdancing, and it ain't an Olympic event or anything you're likely to see on ESPN2. So stop trying to sound educated by arguing semantics. You know what I meant! I'm from NYC and I was born in the 70's so I know all about bboying. And I suggest YOU learn how to respond like an adult instead of an immature asshat before you go replying on other people's comments!
captainbryce1 Dude it is not about difficulty. It is about to officially introduce where does airflares come from. Bboys do admit some moves are come from gymnastic or other sports and culture in bboy documentaries. And u gotta know professional bboys in korea train 10 hours a day for real. Btw, who told u that perfect airflares need pointing toes? U must know that what a dancer cares most is originality, also for bboys, for this we can take it as a foundational move. But please, admit officially THIS MOVE IS FROM BBOYS.
captainbryce1 BTW BBOY IS AN ART, not a sport. We don't need to be on ESPN or Olympic games. We hv our own way to broadcast informations and we make our own events, just like other cultures. From what u said, U KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BBOYING!
@kalibeast Didn't know they were "flairs," that's interesting. To answer, bboys have mistaken "flairs" to be spelled as "flares," and since we created the move, the spelling as "airflare" just makes sense.
ya airflares are great...but bboys have been doing them for nearly 15 years...with dozens of variations of them....bboys give gymnast the recognition we took from them....i wonder if gymnast will do the same in turn,...
I thought I'd be happy to see the airflare in competition, but the announcers are saying people are learning it because of him. When people have been learning this move for a decade.
ya airflares are great...but bboys have been doing them for nearly 15 years...with dozens of variations of them..ive seen bboys do 4 and five in a row on ONE arm.......bboys give gymnast the recognition we took from them....i wonder if gymnast will do the same in turn,...
I would love to see gymnist try the One Handed Airflare, for reference checkout BBoy Cico. He in my opinion has the cleanest One Handed Airflare to Flare transition, and awesome consecutive 1.5 Airflares combos.
Well, we'll have proof that they don't! We have old school footage of airflares! So, it is not possible that they argue the move was made by them because airflare was allowed in gymnastics many years later! So we have the proof about who did it first!
ummm bboy rugburn ya theyve been doin airflares for a longer time and can do more than one at a time but have any of them ever had to go all out on two passes consisting of 6 moves right before with no pause? doubt it.
for shure the influence of gymnastics in bboying is known by everyone and also that flares were a gymnnastic thing first but the airflare was a real bboy thing and it should be seen as such...
We didn't "steal" flares from gymnastics because "Flares" came from kung-fu... at least the commentator still called it an airflare. I think the funniest part is the crowd reaction i bet if it was some random bboy hitting the brim doing cleaner airflares he wouldn't get that kinda of praise
It is not possible to compare the bboys with gymnastics they are totally different disciplines in addition if we are going to analyze a bit of whom it copies movements the flares were invented by a Russian gymnast not for bboys.
what do you mean bboys STOLE flares from gymnasts? yes bboys use a lot of flares but i'm very very sure that they respect where flare orginated from(kurt thomas). I believe gymnasts(especially morgan hamm) should respect where airflares came from an stop claiming that this is his move when this move is really bboy pablo flores'. fellow bboys in my place have been telling me where flares came from and we even call them THOMAS(not flares). So please stop saying bboys STOLE flares. ~PEACE
At least bboys respect were the move originated from by calling flares the same name gymnasts do. Where as gymnast have disregarded the history and creator of the move (Pablo flores) by calling airflares hamminators (which sounds wack by the way).
no, he didnt steal spindle flairs lmao. Those were created by a dude named Thomas Flair. Anyways the airflairs did come from bboys but its not stealing. Its art and those were better than any bboy ive ever seen
The commentators are stupid acting like he invented the move or something, great airflares but call me when he does the one handed airflare... watch?v=daVOwX6SJqQ
Big up to Bboys for inventing the air flare in 1998!
Funny thing, It was done at 1984 the first time!
Next Level even before that actually its an entire fighting style started in Brazil called Capoeira, the character Mugen in Samurai Champloo does it.
@@passport3763He specific is congratulating the creator of the airflare which was Pablo back in the 90's. If your interested in learning who created the move please google it.
Bbou Paulo R.I.P
@Bboy Powers Nah Kurt Thomas invented the "flare" in different parts of the world they call it "Thomas Flare"
Nice that bboys gave something in return. We borrowed the flare and they borrowed the airflare.
squeesh airflare was done by bboy pablo long time before Morgan did that.
@@KiraVisualKei 🤦♂️
@Bboy Powers ...
but our flares are nicer, this flares are like intermedium but some bboys can do some really clean high flares
Bboys who hate on him are hypocrites. Those were beautiful airflares.
Bboy Powers he’s a gymnast and not a bboy. He went out of his way to learn it, give him a little credit.
@Bboy Powers stop hating.
same as them they hate on us for borrowing the flares xD
Most bboys have shit form and technique when it comes to moves like flairs and windmills or halos legs bent feet dragging even whe i did flairs and halos i did them legs way the hell out there and did it with out bending my legs or feet scraping the ground infound it easyer to do sevril flairs into halos with proper form vs half ass and loseong the momentum due to keeping legs bent and feet dragging

Well well..
Awesome airflare! This is the most beautiful airflare I've ever seen.

With straight legs and arms? Idk...

Airflares are a bboy move yes, but it's amazing how clean his form is. Doesn't look out of place at all with the pointed toes and straight limbs.
take a look at bboy nazim's airflare, or punisher & tivodemon
Morgan Hamm is doing his airflare.

B-Boys invented the flare called "Air Flare".

Bboy Pocket... teach this guy.
Bboy Pockets wasn't even old enough.

Wow I can't believe that this move is now only getting into gymnastics. It's been done to death by bboy power heads for a decade now.

Air flare is so cool
I hope he went to bboy cypher sessions to learn it.. any bboy in that cypher would've been humbled
Watching in 2023 😅
I liked morgan better. As an inventive athlete and a person..
...just imagine how it would look on the Pommel Horse!
It is not possible to compare the bboys with gymnastics they are totally different disciplines in addition if we are going to analyze a bit of whom it copies movements

Hamminator ???
Please tell me its a joke , gymnastics want tou claim Airflare as their own move ???
Airflare is a original B-Boy Move
flips is not realy breakin and bboys are better at airflares and flares than gymnasts
it's the olympics who want to change the name to "hamminators"...gynastics are gonna call it that...we bboys will always say airflare lol
anyone can bite airtracks.. but can you bite elbow chair flares? HAHAHAHAH
These days American gymnasts starting to make russian gymnasts look bad
geez his stealing two moves from bboys airlfares and jumping flares
no, he didnt steal spindle flairs lmao. Those were created by a dude named Thomas Flair. Anyways the airflairs did come from bboys but its not stealing. Its art and those were better than any bboy ive ever seen
watch?v=0VABz7BCRk0&feature=related
this guy is better.. in airflares only though.. cos morgan is so good at gymnast stuff.. its ridiculous.
Pffft. Will be impressed when a gymnast does a real one hand. Not that they even know what that means.
@Sidewinder1O5 Well put. interesting story, airflare actually didn't evolve from a flare but from a windmill. ^_^ was informed by a zulu king himself.
Bboy,, Gymnists= Human Beings,, its all the same in the end,, just create
The commentators are stupid acting like he invented the move or something, great airflares but call me when he does the one handed airflare... watch?v=daVOwX6SJqQ
bboy cico is better... just saying xD
To be real he stole it from break dancers. We don't take!!!! We originate!!!!!
Bboys and Gimnasts are now even because bboys took flares to bboying and Gimnasts took airflares to gimnastic
bboys do better airflares lol
