Ngl I dont find SkyTrains to be loud at all. I never even realized it was an issue until I dived into transit communities and people were complaining lol. I find the sound to be relaxing!
I don't get how skytrain squeals on straight track. It's not shakingly loud like old NYC/Chicago/Philly el trackage, but it's the loudest of all gadgetbahns and driverless metro types
Overall great video and analysis. Some addendums are: - Up until the late 2000s, the Mark 1s and 2001 Mark 2s had different announcements for a few stations and did not make the next station “ding” - Most Mark 2.5 sets have WiFi now. There are probably two or three that are missing. Only about a third of the Mark 2 sets have WiFi. Look for a black disc on top of the trains, because that seems to be the WiFi device - Mark 2.5s served the Millennium Line in 2-car formation when the Evergreen Extension first opened, but now they VERY RARELY make appearances - Car 317 derailed outside Scott Road last year
I remember when there was a special livery on one set for the 20th anniversary 👌🏼 I’m also surprised that the 2002 version had 60 cars, but the 2009 version only had 48 🤔
i love your videos and learn so much about the trains i take often and find things that i would not think to look for i would love to see a video done on the canada line, it's one of my favourite trains i have taken they sound cool they look cool i just love them!! keep up the good work!!1 i know you spend a lot of time and effort into making these videos.
IMHO, the Kuala Lumpur's mark II train front looks cleaner and better than Canada's.... Idk the sky train mark II face is just weird. Luckily the face of mark III for both KL and SkyTrain are similar
8:07 dude the road traffic is louder in terms of raw decibels and duration. This example sounds the same as any elevated metro. I've ridden a traditional soviet metro train built by metrovagonmash, and people cannot talk at all while riding those. I've felt the ground shake as an nyc subway passed by. Skytrain is louder than other gadgetbahns and driverless metros but it doesn't compare with that, doesn't shake the ground
3:30 yeah skytrains are just a little too loud to ride with the windows open, and all trains are too loud for this in tunnels. Also, Pacific Northwest summers have gotten oppressive
I can still hear your swearing dude. If you really have the intention of covering it up you need to lower your voice and let the sound effect do the talking.

Why play music over the train sound when you are talking about the train sound and showing the example of the train sound?

Love it, when are you going to make one about Mk3?
Lovely history videos! 💕💕 Any chance you’ll be putting up the history of the mark 3 skytrain cars, if they even exist?

There was also a special livery painted on a 2001 Mark II for the 25th Anniversary.
Nice video, just thought I'd point out that "VVVF" is not "WVF", it's three "V"s followed by an "F" (variable voltage, variable frequency).

i came for the part that talked about the paintjobs, same with the mk I episode, but ended up watching the whole thing, very interesting
What happened with the SkyTrain at 15:02, car 323 with the smashed front facia?
Tree fell into the tracks
Nice summary, some half truths regarding LIM Propulsion units but close enough for yt. Cheers
You really need to lower the music volume

Bombardier did not acquire SNC-Lavalin. They acquired the UTDC assets from Lavalin. Link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Transportation
And now the Mark V won't even be numbered in the 500s, instead it will go to 6,000s???????
thought it was 4000s lol
