Taylor Hawkins ended up being a great choice for the Foo Fighters in the end, but I'm really curious what could have happened if Dave Grohl and William Goldsmith had been able to work around their differences and have Goldsmith work in the band. He's a fantastic drummer, and it's a shame we never got to see his full potential with the Foos. I understand it may not have ended up working out for their sound in the end, but he's a killer drummer.
@@murray1978 I’ve seen SDRE four time. William is an incredible drummer and has no problem keeping time. I follow him on social media and he’s posted some of his practices. He can keep time.

I was only 3 years old when this song came out and don’t really remember it. Wish I was old enough to appreciate this kind of music back then. Most music that I remember from the 90s is all the pop that was on the radio.
There were so many amazing bands like this that never got the recognition they deserved. Hum, Failure, Sugar, Jesus and Mary Chain, Lemonheads, The Posies, Dinosaur Jr., so many unmined treasures of the 90s.

yall mentioning the drumming so well, just look at 1990s emo/hardcore/punk, it's all there. But, also SDRE was also a beacon for most bands, so chicken or egg i dunno 🤷♀
They say they're not an emo band, but you can clearly hear and see the emotion while they're playing I think its just because of how degrading the "emo" title has become
@@damesoumbi I can't imagine anyone would care if you simply became religious. No William Goldsmith was the drummer on the Foo Fighters first album. He's showing in this performance why he was one of the best drummers around in the 90's.
He joined after the first album (Grohl recorded all the album parts except one guitar track that Greg Dulli from the Afghan Whigs added on X-Static). Goldsmith played on Doll and the first part of Up in Arms before creative differences (Grohl recorded over a lot of his parts without his knowledge) drove Goldsmith off. It's a shame because Goldsmith is also a great drummer, even if his sound may not have been what Grohl was looking for.
The bassline for this song is absolutely phenomenal, Nate gave their songs so much depth
Great bassist, reminds me of Andy Rourke from The Smiths
he is in the convo for most underrated bass player of all time. nate, that is. but he did not play on how it feels...
This is one of the most beautiful songs all over the world

I've read that he can't keep time. He had to do hundreds of hours worth of takes for one song on TCATS.

Goldsmith is more of a visceral drummer and plays out of passion with great groove. Hawkins can just keep a beat on time. That’s pretty much it.
True
Great drummer
As hard as the drummer plays, surprised he doesn’t brake the sticks. Good performance.
Wicked drumming there
The drums in this mix are incredible! MTV always mixed 120 Minutes really well!
What a great tune a song you can really get into, even if your a 70's guy
That means a lot from us ignorant millennials
I saw this when it first aired. It was a game changer for me.
Nate looks like Nate from Foo Fighters!
Well yeah since he is Nate from Foo Fighters.
Marshall D. Dierte Yes. He actually left Foo Fighters and went back to SDRE. Watch the Netflix doc on FFs. He was torn.
:D
