Don't know if you've heard this before, but when spamton is talking about mike in his shop he says "KRIS!!! DON'T BELIEVE [[Anything You See On TV!]] THE MAN'S A CRIMINAL, I TELL YOU! A CRIMINAL!!" Maybe he's reffering to Tenna not Mike, telling us that Tenna is spreading misinformation about Mike. He also mentions CRTS and how you don't need them.
Yeah, Spamton's speech quirks definitely fooled us all. I think the bracketed text in [[Anything You See On TV!]] is supposed to replace "Tenna", so he wanted to say "don't believe Tenna!".
Hmm, it makes me remember line on the neo fight *LET'S TURN THOSE [Shmoes and Daves] INTO [Rosen Graves] *THOSE [Cathode Screens] INTO [Cathode Screams] It seems like spamton wants revenge, which fits in really good with this theory
My theory for now is Tenna is a mob boss because it fits the enemies that were shown off on the Detarune site (which look like mobsters) and that would certainly make Tenna a criminal. Also media about the mafia and such are pretty dang popular so it would fit pretty well into a television themed dark world. As a last point mobs and royalty do share the trait of both having a lot of underlings to do their dirty work so it does fit into what we've seen from the other chapters.
I'm seeing a lot of mafia/Noir related themes with what we've seen from the sweepstakes. Maybe Tenna and Mike were from rival gangs. And Mike, Spamtons friend, got whacked?
1:20 Okay... sounds plausible... My idea is that Mike is still "HE'S A CRIMINAL, I TELL YOU, A CRIMINAL!", but he used to be Spamton's friend until a certain someone came to power. 1:42 I still think Mike is the TV, myself... but a TV can do little but give off static without a 2:40 Or at least, he might be the smile. Some people thought Mike might be the secret boss, and I can understand that idea better now. After all, the secret bosses have all been about finding freedom in captivity. 3:33 I always saw that as "He's too strong to care about Spamton's revenge, much less being affected by it" but this time it might just be that Mike WAS his friend and he still cares about him despite hating him. 4:10 Yeahhhh this is going off the rails now. I'm pretty sure "cathode" is like calling a sofa a seat. Not naming them outright, but instead calling them what they metaphorically are.
I really hope they dont release chapters 3, 4, and 5 at the same time. I think that would be way too overwhelming. I'd rather get one chapter a month when 3, 4, and 5 are done.
If Tenna is going to be a character in the game (which seems very likely), it would be funny if they somehow made it so that every single time their name is mentioned the sentence is structured in a way so that there's the word "and" in front of the name (so that they're essentially always called "antenna") You know, a funny little dialogue quirk. Could also tie into a sort of inferiority complex, always being number two and stuff like that
Oh WAIT, This quirk could actually fit in a speculation that i've heard, where Tenna could be someone that controls the TV guy, since its an antenna that makes a TV work and etc, Making the others say "[Tv guy] and Tenna"
I don't know who else will agree, but toby is the type of guy who makes the fandom think about "mike" for one year, to the introduce "Tenna" to change people's minds to then show in the game that Mike is the antagonist. Toby would definetly do that
i mean it happened when chapter 2 was in development where we all were made to believe kris was going to kill everyone and were then proven entirely wrong by queen
@@noscopespiderThat was for the ending sequence though, Toby fooling people into thinking tenna was the main antagonist would be like Toby pretending Queen wasn’t the main antagonist by replacing her with someone named “puter” or something only for Queen to be the main antagonist for chapter 2. I have heavy doubts mike is the main antagonist, in fact, Toby could’ve just made the cycle to just be a random character namedrop by the secret bosses.
I think the whole Cathode thing might be a little less complicated than people are making it out to be. I think when Spamton says "ARE YOU PART OF THAT [cathode]'S CREW?", with the context that Tenna may have done something to Mike, him calling us the "cathode's crew" might just be him assuming we WORK for Tenna, thus making it seem like we're asking who Mike is to go after him or something, and Spamton's just trying to not give info away. That is, IF Mike and Tenna aren't the same person. I can totally see Mike's full name being "Mike Tenna V (as in "the fifth")" or something, which would make his initials "M. T. V", which would be a nice pun. Not to mention it's slightly reinforced by the fact these initials kind of can be seen in the green room in the Doors and the shape of the antennas on the TVs
When his text is bracketed, [text], it's not the actual word he's saying and instead something related to his feeling/true sentence. I think that the person's name is "Tenna", and [Cathode] was Spamton's broken English keeping him from saying something offensive. I think he was probably meaning something like "That asshole's crew", but due to Tenna being the asshole, his broken English filters his swears by calling Tenna a [Cathode] instead.
that actually could make sense but from what i seen he usually cencors things by saying [!?@#] (or other stuff like that) ((you can prove me wrong tho)) but still its a nice theory
thank you, it's honestly spamton's defining character traits that some of his speech is being replaced and that he's not exactly the most sane darkner around, so it's really weird that people are taking his words, especially the bracketed words, so literally. [cathode] and [boob tube] are obviously just nicknames or "close enough" words to what he actually meant - we're not even sure if tenna is the actual name since I'm not sure if square brackets are allowed in URLs & it's short for antenna - it could be a cute name shortening pun or it could be spamton being insane again. i do think that tenna is the name, but we don't know for sure.
I agree with think Spamton is talking about Tenna in both instances but I have another theory, since a “boob tube” is a TV set I think that implies that this “Cathode crew” with have multiple leading officers one of which being Tenna representing the antennas on a CRT TV and there will probably be one for like the box part with the screen and probably some other people as well
Yeah, this seems like the most likely answer. Mike is implied to have been Spamton's friend but who knows what lead to their split We just need to know how much we got right and what roles do these characters play lol ( are they the main antagonist, important side characters or something else? )
I think Spamton saying, "that cathode's crew" isn't about "cathode's crew" being a group name, but rather Spamton referring to the TV character (tenna imo, just based on the antennas in the tv) as a cathode, like a slur or insult or something. Pretty sure Spamton thinks Tenna is a ring leader here, and they hurt Mike somehow. My current theory: Mike helped Spamton be a big shot. Mike stopped helping Spamton for whatever reason. Whether Tenna is actually to blame or not, Spamton blames Tenna for this. Wouldn't be surprised is Mike was running a pyramid scheme or something, but it's also important to note that we saw a clear parallel to exactly how Mike left Spamton at the end of the sweepstakes in how Spamton G Spamton left Spamton A Spamton. Idk, it's a lot to think about lol
I think Mike was his business partner, not the one who made him powerful, since that was probably gaster, when whatever happened to Mike happened, spamton fell, my theory is that Mike was the one to get him to contact gaster, and when Mike disappeared, his deal with gaster did too
TENNA COULD BE THE TV WHICH MEANS HES REFERRING TO TENNA WHEN HE SAYS CATHODE ALSO THE WORD “THAT” WOULD SIGNAL HES TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING IN POSSESSION OF SOMEONE THAT CATHODE’S CREW = TENNA’S CREW WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO REALIZES THIS?!?!? … sorry… just got a bit annoyed for a second i should be good now
You forgot to mention that tenna comes from antenna which crts and satellite dishes have (unless cibles alrdy mentioned it idk I'm commenting b4 watching)
Wowie, what an original theory😮 No but seriously, can’t blame you for thinking the same as almost everyone else, Toby pretty much spelled this one out for us😂 Great video❤
I'm just excited for the new dark world area. It's very obvious now that it'll be TV related, not just because of Spamton and Mike, but because of the new character and room reveals. Lots of motifs relating to weather forecasts, western/noir/etc movies, stages, etc.
The impression I got was that Mike and Spamton were business partners and Tenna is the tv/crt/Cathode-Ray Tube character responsible for their separation and loss of business, and between the previewed gangster-type enemies and Spamton's response to inquiries about Mike, I suspect he's going to be a sort of mob boss who might still have it out for Spamton and/or Mike. Also I'm almost 80% sure Mike is going to be representative of radio adverts and this whole beef between the three is building up to a "Video killed the radio star" punchline.
Hey so i just realised that this is not the first time spamton refers to tv as cathode in particular. In the non wierd neo batle he says he’s gonna and i quote “turn those schmoes and dave’s into rosen graves, those cathode screens into cathode screams” showing a desire for revenge long before we learned it was not mike
Yeah. Mike was probably a radio advertiser/producer, and spamton was his business partner, spamming advertisements for his products in internet. However, Tenna, some TV gang/business's leader, destroyed Mike's business, and Mike disappeared/runned away, probably planning for a come back against his crew or something in the future, or just hiding. Scamton couldn't do anything to save or help mike, and probably ended up as a victim too, being turned intp a puppet under Tenna's control. In order to get his revenge, he tried to get hold of the neo power, but couldn't use it as he wished, since he continued to be only a puppet.
My interpretation was that Spamton is using "That [cathode]" as an alias for Tenna. So, "That [cathode]'s crew" means "Tenna's crew". Spamton seems to have a habit of referring to people with aliases he comes up with
I felt like "CATHODE CREW" is meant to be a call out for the team that made "The Mike Game" (a fangame where Mike is the TV person) or just people making fanon Mike content, especially with the "You know nothing about Mike, leave him out of this"
Yeah, like chapter 2 was full of lore and the sweepstakes are full of lore. But I guest that he has had a bad experience with Undertale/Deltarune theorys.
I don't think "that cathode's crew" is supposed to imply cathode is a name of a person, I think it's supposed to be a noun to refer to Tenna. For example, if Spamton instead referred to Tenna as an idiot, he'd say "that idiot's crew". After all, if Tenna is SUPPOSED to be a CRT TV, or an An-tenna like I think, then it would make sense to describe him as a cathode, being shortened from cathode-ray-tube TV
It's a good theory, but I personally don't think it's true, I still think Mike's the TV, and I have a few points to "prove" or whatever. My main point being is that Cathode is in brackets, this usually means Spamton is subbing in a word in the use of another. So I think Spamton saying "THAT [ Cathode ]'S CREW", is just a creative insult. Why would this Cathode's name be in brackets while Kris' isn't? It's just doesn't add up if you ask me. As for Tenna, I DO think that's Mike's gang. "The Tenna Crew". ( Tenna being a play on the antenna of a old TV ) I also thought I could be Mike's second name, like, his full name being Mike Tenna, but that doesn't seem as plausible as the first option. I would go on, but I don't want to spook people with a large wall of text. Great video regardless!
The problem is that doesn't make sense when you consider his reaction to someone asking about Mike. Why would he get upset that someone near Mike is asking about Mike? Cathode could be a sub for Tenna since it fits part of the same thing and could be an insult if you consider Tenna is on top of the TV but bound to it. Calling Tenna by their prison is insulting them. It also puts them in a similar spot to Kris and the Player fitting with the theme. Really the point of Mike and Tenna are to bait us away from the major focus of the chapter. Toby has done this constantly by relying on us over analyzing things all through Deltarune. Mike, Tenna, and [Cathode] are all a distraction.
Mike and Tenna are clearly two different person. Spamton hates Tenna and wants him to pays for everything, but want to spare Mike. He also mentions "CRTS" just before Mike. Meaning that CRTS is not Mike. Regarding the "Cathode crew", Spamton thinks they want information on Mike. It wouldn't make sense if the "Cathode crew" worked for Mike.
Well Spamton always calls Noelle "that [[HOCHI MAMA]]" so that's not really valid proof. Like maybe he calls her that because he remembers how she was the only one reading his spam emails and feels emotional => cowers her name in brackets. So he might feel hatred towards Tenna, so he cowers his name in brackets! Makes sense right?
@@Buglin_Burger7878 I don't think I understand your argument, Spamton would get upset cuz he hates Mike, no? And him saying "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MIKE", is Spamton once again reiterating that Mike can't be trusted. He's no big shot, he's a crook. Also I doubt Toby is throwing us off, Jevil, the secret boss of chapter 1, name dropped Queen from chapter 2, a whole 2 years before the second chapter came out. And now Spamton, the secret boss of chapter 2, keeps bringing up Mike, and how we can't trust him. So I doubt Mike is a red herring.
Finally, everyone's been calling me crazy cuz I've been saying that Mike doesn't sound like he's gonna be that bad of a guy. When you attack spamton neo instead of cutting his strings, he asks Mike if he's getting this. Now idk about you, but if I had an enemy and didn't want anything to do with him, I wouldn't ask that person if they were capturing everything I was doing, and after the sweepstakes it was kinda the last bit of info I needed to think that maybe we got some things wrong here. Of course, I could still be wrong but hey, what do I know. I'm just some random dude who likes a 5 ft puppet with a funny nose and Tourette syndrome, knock on wood.
Is Mike TV a reference to Charlie and the chocolate factory by any chance? He dresses up in cowboy gear like we see the main protagonists. Theres probably more parallels to draw but can't think of any more
My guess is that "cathode" is just a derogatory nickname Spamton came up with for Tenna. They're the same person. I of course might be totally wrong, we'll just have to wait and see
I agree with some points of this but I think this is the most likely outcome. I think mike is the one that made spamton a [BIG SHOT] giving him support of how to be sucessful. Something happens which causes spamton to leave. This is further stated by all the conformation of him having to do with advertizing with his cungerdero. But where would you go if you quit the show buisness?, the internet. Which would explain why he uses both internet and tv phrases in his bracket text. Spamton refuses to even enowlege Mikes existence as shown in the tweet and the secret page. Additionally in the secret page is the fact he would never pay back his crimes most likely of him being a higher power. So this leads to mike most likely using people to achieve his goal of something higher, freedom. Tenna and the CRT TV references most likely leed to the weatherpeople in one of the secret pages. In a way he would be doing what gaster is doing in the expirment with him being able to have things predetirmine via scripts. This also can support the Chess theroy of him being the rook. The pawn infront of the rook has to move for the rook to move so it would corrlate to mike using people like pawns so he can achieve his own goals. But a rook in chess is mostly a definsive peice so he could be using people for the benfit for everyone else. That took a long time lmao have a good day thanks for reading.
"WE DON'T NEED FRIENDS" "WE DON'T NEED ANY [Man, woman or child] [At half price!]" As in:We don't need any cheap friends "WE DON'T NEED [Mike]" As in:Mike is one of those cheap friends, we especially don't need him "DON'T BELIEVE [Anything you see on TV], THAT MAN'S A CRIMINAL!" As in:That man on TV (at the end of chapter 2) is a criminal, in other words you could say he's a crook... My-crook sounds like Mike-rook So far we have The King (Cha 1) -> The Queen (Cha 2) and next up, in order of importance in chess: The Rook (Cha 3)
how i've always seen mike as the TV: "ARE YOU GETTING THIS [Mike]!?" during the violence ending of NEO, its as if Mike was metaphorically there recording or something. whats one way to view a recording? a TV
a theory i have (based on yours) is that mike and spamton used to be friends, and tenna was this like sleazy dude, but maybe he offered mike a deal he couldn't refuse, so mike started working with him maybe they have a talk show/gameshow called "Mike N Tenna" (eh? ehhhhh?) -i'm sorry- anyways, spamton (rightfully) feels betrayed, and that probably sends him deeper into insanity (i mean we don't know if this was BEFORE he got the weird calls or not) or maybe mike just got mercd lol
Idk If you like chess theory + the superbosses predicting main bosses theory or not but there are 2 rooks on one side and spamton has given us information on 2 characters, 1 named tenna and 1 named Mike
I think that tenna is the main villain for sure... and i believe she is most likely female. i think their first name will be anne or something like that, with Tenna as a last name. then boom: Anne Tenna. Antenna. retro tvs. it makes sense. and i think all of the previously seen stuff for chapter 3 represents Tv, the weathermen, the shadow people seem like characters in a crime thriller, it all makes sense, even a greenroom is defined as a place that actors relax when not on stage. just like the one from the sweepstakes. o_o
mike is from a 1997 commercial advertising big shot soda. that same year, a mail protection service named maps stopped mail abusement. edit: maybe spamton saw mike on tv.
My ears bleed every time you pronounce cathode ca-THode instead of CATH-ode Edit: finished the video, it was like being beaten with a lead pipe, you said cathode so much. Ps cathode, boob tube and tenna being terms that refer to the same person is an absolute no brainer
i think mike would likely be a telephone. tvs likely outclassed phones back then and who knows it could mean something i don't know much about crt television though so here's a small theory perhaps it's an innuendo on tvs harming phones, i thought of the reception of crt televisions making the telephones lose connection. but i don't know if this is possible, there's also a chance it could've been radiation. so here's a theory, perhaps mike tried to help him on the phone, but that damned crt tv made mike lose connection and never talk to em again
1:48 In the scean of the spamton value network when they say I'll the ways they'll destroy their tv they say "I'll destroy my tv for it's horrible crimes" Note I could have the exact quote a bit of.
Considering there is clearly a 1920's mafia theme with the TV's, the suits the fun gang gets fighting the shadowmen and the latter's appearance, the cathode's crew might be some sort of entertainment mafia and they took Mike as a revenge to Spamton for something he might've done.
Oh boy.. I remembered something... My grandma used to work for Philipps. So for her wedding with my granddad, they gave her a new TV model. It worked for 60 years. When it was begining to not work properly,it would randomly change channels every 2 seconds... Totally unrelated lol
I think Tenna is the leader of the gang and Mike is an abused made fun of member he,ll probably be like Lancer and Stop us but slowly become a good guy
it's not gonna be a man with a television head it's gonna be a tv anTENNA (as head) with with a tv as a body, holy shit we've been confusing mike with Tenna this whole time
new theory: the gd in ciblesgd stands for ground dog this would explain the grey and brown representing stone and dirt and also grey dog and brown dog i am a genius
Cathode isn't one person, he says 'cathode crew'. That's a group, like the sweet cap'n cakes was a crew. Tenna and the cathode crew are clearly seperate, Tenna is probably like queen or king and is the main boss of the world and the cathode crew are minions. It seems incredibly simple.
THAT Cathode. He said THAT Cathode's crew. Not "The Cathode's Crew". You're implying that "the cathode" is someone that isn't Mike, even though it seems pretty obvious that he was using "cathode" as a descriptor for Mike.
Im pretty sure spamton said [Cathode’s Crew] to reference Tenna’s crew and not someone named Cathode. Like how he calls Swatch and the Swatchlings [Easels] and Jevil [Clown around Town]
"KRIS!!! DON'T BELIEVE ][Anything You See On Tv]] THE MAN'S A CRIMINAL, A CRIMINAL! "SOON THE QUEEN WILL RETURN" Yep, Mike will be a funny antagonist for chapter 3 just like Queen was.
I heard that the person who asked who Mike is worked on some Mike=TV content, which makes them apart of “[Cathode]’S CREW”. I thought it was debunking Mike as a TV. Edit: Okay, yeah. They work on Deltatropolis, so that confirms that for ya.
SHAKING LIKE A CHIHUAHUA this guy gets it. mike and spamton were close and tenna (one person, the TV) hurt mike somehow, which hurt spamton. spamton wants to make people pay for what happened to him but feels that mike is the only one deserving of his mercy ("EVERYONE EXCEPT"). I feel like Tenna is also likely the leader of whatever "crew" spamton is referring to, "that cathode's crew" as in tenna's crew that he leads. the thing that has me stumped is who the main boss of chapter 3 will be with all this information taken into consideration. knowing all this, youd think that maybe mike would be the secret boss of ch3, but...attacking and beating jevil makes him mention queen, the main boss of ch2, while attacking and beating spamton makes him mention mike. going by that youd assume mike would be the main boss of ch3, which is what i thought before the sweepstakes, but now im just confused, tenna definitely seems like a better fit for a main antagonist to a chapter from what we know so far. There's also the idea that the one who hurt spamton is a gameshow host based on that one line in snowgrave, and the main boss of chapter 3 being a gameshow host seems pretty fitting. I guess we'll just have to wait and see and i am SO excited to see what toby has in store for us. The way we were all so sure we had spamton's story straight (this is all coming from someone who went HARD in the mike being the bad guy theory, i made fan designs and had this whole headcanon timeline and everything) only for a wrench to be thrown in by the introduction of another character we didnt realize existed, recontextualizing every lead we had to spamtons backstory, is so interesting to me. Anyway this video made me feel really validated lmao, this is pretty much exactly my thoughts but I was starting to worry id been spending too much time in the mike deltarune enjoyer corner of the fandom and seeing things that werent there lmao
Spamton states in the reply: "ARE YOU A PART OF **THAT** [[Cathode]]'s CREW??" He was referring to someone as Cathode, most likely Tenna as the leader of this said 'crew' It's like saying "Are you one of THAT 4$$hole's crew?". What i'm saying is that it might be a way to call to Tenna, a Cathode, an adjective. So in my personal pov, Spamton's referring to Tenna's crew as the cathode's crew also love your videos :D
Some Diolauge From Spamton NEO WE'LL TURN THOSE [ schmoes and daves] INTO [rosen graves] AND THOSE [cathode screens] INTO [cathode screams] He calls them "Cathode Screens"
OK GUYS SO CRAZY THOUGHT THAT'S KINDA UNRELATED Mike...as in a michrophone...? Idk the other new characters in this video seem to be named after TV stuff.
I had the idea that Mike was an addison and spamtons closest friend just for variety in fan art ideas. Seeing this ,it could be more realistic than I imagined
I kinda assumed that uh, Spamton was calling Tenna a cathode. Like how you’d say “that idiot!” But instead he said “that cathode!” Becuase Tenna is a TV/related to TV’s
i'm not completely sure about this, but by "cathode's crew" spamton might actually mean the people who work on the metropolis au, a fanmade chapter 3, because the person who asked the question works on it. the mike in that au is a tv.
The TV can't be Mike. Spamton said "we don't need [Easels] or [CRT's], we don't need any [ man woman or child] at half price, we don't need Mike." This implies that Mike and Kris's TV must be separate. It does raise question about why spamton talks about the CRT and its significance, but the main bullet point is Mike and the Dreemurs TV are different.
If Mike was hurt by this 'tenna' , an idea that just stayed in my head was that mike could be the secret boss of the next chapter. Dont know why i thought of this , i dont think it'll be actually true but yk. But something im somewhat sure about is that tenna might be the main boss ( like Spade King and Queen ) of the next chapter! I mean jevil hinted at chapter 2 having a 'queen' charecter ( most likely the one from chapter 2 ) so whose to say spamton cant do the same?
I don't think there's necessarily a "Cathode's crew", I think Spamton was simply calling the TV guy names. The way he phrases "that [Cathode]" and "that damn [Boub tube]" makes it sound like insults.
Cathode- shorthand for the CRT TV Crew- a group of some kind Cathode's Crew- A group organized under a CRT TV Come on, it's not that hard. Further, it's not just 'Cathode's Crew', he calls it 'that [Cathode]'s Crew', meaning that Cathode is definitely not a name, or was at least not meant as such in this case.
Guys, hear me out You know how spamton was installed by a kid using a computer in the librarby in 1997 right? What if the kid's name was Mike and the person helping spamton out was just the kid in the internet clicking his spam emails and accepting it over and over again (which is why there are alot of virovirokuns aka viruses) and then when the kid has to go via to another place or he just stopped using the computer with viruses, the "man" helping spamton vanished as well and with noone clicking/helping spamton, his business crashed.
anTENNA As in, the antenna of the TV, as most CRT TVs had antennas ONTOP of them; and what do we see in deltarune? A CRT-esqe TV that has an ANTENNA on top of it. Very, very, interesting indeed.
Sorry for being so short!

damn how tall are you??
Deltarune is building a story about how the media has usurped the power of govt and royalty. Mark my words Lightners.
heh... that's what she said
im just gona note that during the spamton neo fight spamton says "we'll turn those CATHODE screens into CATHODE [screams]
Yes that was my first thought. Funnilly enough it definitly worked because the fandom thought he was a bad guy for quite awhile
Yeah, Spamton's speech quirks definitely fooled us all. I think the bracketed text in [[Anything You See On TV!]] is supposed to replace "Tenna", so he wanted to say "don't believe Tenna!".
Is 'Cathode' not just what Spamton calls Tenna? Similar to how he never uses Noelle's name when speaking about her?
Or Berdly, just calling him Frozen Chicken.
Yeah I thought it was just a silly Spamton nickname. Nothing more to it.
Probably not because there aren’t brackets around their name
That* [Cathode]. It makes sense that Spamton thinks of us not as a member of the crew, but rather one of Tenna’s goons
Yeah that’s what I thought as well
Hmm, it makes me remember line on the neo fight
*LET'S TURN THOSE [Shmoes and Daves] INTO [Rosen Graves]
*THOSE [Cathode Screens] INTO [Cathode Screams]
It seems like spamton wants revenge, which fits in really good with this theory
My theory for now is Tenna is a mob boss because it fits the enemies that were shown off on the Detarune site (which look like mobsters) and that would certainly make Tenna a criminal. Also media about the mafia and such are pretty dang popular so it would fit pretty well into a television themed dark world. As a last point mobs and royalty do share the trait of both having a lot of underlings to do their dirty work so it does fit into what we've seen from the other chapters.
Tenna reminds me of antenna (which a tv also has)
This was probably done un purpose but i find it nice
I'm seeing a lot of mafia/Noir related themes with what we've seen from the sweepstakes.
Maybe Tenna and Mike were from rival gangs. And Mike, Spamtons friend, got whacked?
I just realized tenna is an abbreviation of antenna! That could be a plot point

Okay... sounds plausible...
My idea is that Mike is still "HE'S A CRIMINAL, I TELL YOU, A CRIMINAL!", but he used to be Spamton's friend until a certain someone came to power.

Yeahhhh this is going off the rails now.
I'm pretty sure "cathode" is like calling a sofa a seat. Not naming them outright, but instead calling them what they metaphorically are.
Or..... Spamton could just be calling Tenna a cathode.
I really hope they dont release chapters 3, 4, and 5 at the same time. I think that would be way too overwhelming. I'd rather get one chapter a month when 3, 4, and 5 are done.
cant believe mike was spamton's boyfriend the entire time. the plot thickens
If Tenna is going to be a character in the game (which seems very likely), it would be funny if they somehow made it so that every single time their name is mentioned the sentence is structured in a way so that there's the word "and" in front of the name (so that they're essentially always called "antenna")
You know, a funny little dialogue quirk. Could also tie into a sort of inferiority complex, always being number two and stuff like that
with the mob aspect chapter three's enemies might have she could be referred to as aunt tenna
Im sure their first name is Ann. There’s like no way it isn’t

@@noscopespider wat
Not to mention it's slightly reinforced by the fact these initials kind of can be seen in the green room in the Doors and the shape of the antennas on the TVs
i agree with you and also HOLY SHIT HI SEEK
Tenna the 5th as in, a bishop name
TV
When his text is bracketed, [text], it's not the actual word he's saying and instead something related to his feeling/true sentence.
I think that the person's name is "Tenna", and [Cathode] was Spamton's broken English keeping him from saying something offensive.
I think he was probably meaning something like "That asshole's crew", but due to Tenna being the asshole, his broken English filters his swears by calling Tenna a [Cathode] instead.
that actually could make sense
but from what i seen he usually cencors things by saying [!?@#] (or other stuff like that) ((you can prove me wrong tho)) but still its a nice theory
thank you, it's honestly spamton's defining character traits that some of his speech is being replaced and that he's not exactly the most sane darkner around, so it's really weird that people are taking his words, especially the bracketed words, so literally.
No, I think those are just ads that start with a similar sound.
I agree, the fact Cathode was in brackets, but other names like Kris aren't is telling in my opinion. I still think Mike is the TV.
definitely
I agree with think Spamton is talking about Tenna in both instances but I have another theory, since a “boob tube” is a TV set I think that implies that this “Cathode crew” with have multiple leading officers one of which being Tenna representing the antennas on a CRT TV and there will probably be one for like the box part with the screen and probably some other people as well
Yeah, this seems like the most likely answer. Mike is implied to have been Spamton's friend but who knows what lead to their split
We just need to know how much we got right and what roles do these characters play lol ( are they the main antagonist, important side characters or something else? )
good video. (also its pronounced cath-ode not cuh-thode)
I think Mike was his business partner, not the one who made him powerful, since that was probably gaster, when whatever happened to Mike happened, spamton fell, my theory is that Mike was the one to get him to contact gaster, and when Mike disappeared, his deal with gaster did too
I think it was Tenna to blame, and that Mike is a good person. (Maybe a K_K like personality?)
WE’LL TURN THOSE [Schmoes] AND [Daves] INTO [Rosen Graves]
THOSE [Cathode Screens] INTO [Cathode Screams]
-Spamton neo
TENNA COULD BE THE TV
WHICH MEANS HES REFERRING TO TENNA WHEN HE SAYS CATHODE
ALSO THE WORD “THAT” WOULD SIGNAL HES TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING IN POSSESSION OF SOMEONE
THAT CATHODE’S CREW = TENNA’S CREW
WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO REALIZES THIS?!?!?
…
sorry… just got a bit annoyed for a second
i should be good now
Don't worry I thought that too
Yeah I’m not sure how they missed the mark, clearly tenna is the TV, their name literally is short for antenna
he just... mentioned that?
You forgot to mention that tenna comes from antenna which crts and satellite dishes have (unless cibles alrdy mentioned it idk I'm commenting b4 watching)
This is what he said though
Wowie, what an original theory😮 No but seriously, can’t blame you for thinking the same as almost everyone else, Toby pretty much spelled this one out for us😂 Great video❤
I'm just excited for the new dark world area. It's very obvious now that it'll be TV related, not just because of Spamton and Mike, but because of the new character and room reveals. Lots of motifs relating to weather forecasts, western/noir/etc movies, stages, etc.
Calling it now, Tenna is going to be another part the card family, specifically Lancer's Aunt Tenna. The puns have returned.
Genius
The impression I got was that Mike and Spamton were business partners and Tenna is the tv/crt/Cathode-Ray Tube character responsible for their separation and loss of business, and between the previewed gangster-type enemies and Spamton's response to inquiries about Mike, I suspect he's going to be a sort of mob boss who might still have it out for Spamton and/or Mike.
Also I'm almost 80% sure Mike is going to be representative of radio adverts and this whole beef between the three is building up to a "Video killed the radio star" punchline.
and then internet killed TV...
tenna
antenna
aunt tenna
And me! Uncle Grandpa!
N. Tenna
In order to get his revenge, he tried to get hold of the neo power, but couldn't use it as he wished, since he continued to be only a puppet.
tenna... ANtenna
My interpretation was that Spamton is using "That [cathode]" as an alias for Tenna. So, "That [cathode]'s crew" means "Tenna's crew". Spamton seems to have a habit of referring to people with aliases he comes up with
I felt like "CATHODE CREW" is meant to be a call out for the team that made "The Mike Game" (a fangame where Mike is the TV person) or just people making fanon Mike content, especially with the "You know nothing about Mike, leave him out of this"
Where is matpat when we need him damnit
Still salty and refuses to do deltarune/undertale theories after Toby Fox called him out on twitter for not crediting people he uses game footage for
After the drama mat prob wont do anything related to toby fox games
This is what we get for making fun of him every time he makes a theory
Edit: yooo I was here before this commenter blew up
Yeah, like chapter 2 was full of lore and the sweepstakes are full of lore. But I guest that he has had a bad experience with Undertale/Deltarune theorys.
@@arturriverola *Insert Sans is Ness here*
I don't think "that cathode's crew" is supposed to imply cathode is a name of a person, I think it's supposed to be a noun to refer to Tenna.
( Tenna being a play on the antenna of a old TV )
I also thought I could be Mike's second name, like, his full name being Mike Tenna, but that doesn't seem as plausible as the first option.
@@Buglin_Burger7878 I don't think I understand your argument,
Spamton would get upset cuz he hates Mike, no?
And him saying "YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT MIKE", is Spamton once again reiterating that Mike can't be trusted. He's no big shot, he's a crook.
Also I doubt Toby is throwing us off,
Jevil, the secret boss of chapter 1, name dropped Queen from chapter 2, a whole 2 years before the second chapter came out.
Theres probably more parallels to draw but can't think of any more
Tenna? Anne Tenna?? 😮
My guess is that "cathode" is just a derogatory nickname Spamton came up with for Tenna. They're the same person. I of course might be totally wrong, we'll just have to wait and see
glad you mentioned “cathode’s crew” from when we discussed it in deltarune status update
Maybe Mike is the TV and Tenna is Antenna controling the broadcast. (And by this controling mike.)
Ca-thode, not cuthode
Wait... Didn't Spamton Neo said in his battle - "We turn THOSE [Cathode Screens] INTO [Cathode Screams]"? That could be related to Cathode Crew
"WE DON'T NEED FRIENDS"
"WE DON'T NEED ANY [Man, woman or child] [At half price!]"
As in:We don't need any cheap friends
"WE DON'T NEED [Mike]"
As in:Mike is one of those cheap friends, we especially don't need him
"DON'T BELIEVE [Anything you see on TV], THAT MAN'S A CRIMINAL!"
As in:That man on TV (at the end of chapter 2) is a criminal, in other words you could say he's a crook... My-crook sounds like Mike-rook
So far we have The King (Cha 1) -> The Queen (Cha 2) and next up, in order of importance in chess: The Rook (Cha 3)
how i've always seen mike as the TV: "ARE YOU GETTING THIS [Mike]!?" during the violence ending of NEO, its as if Mike was metaphorically there recording or something. whats one way to view a recording? a TV
every time you pronounce cathode incorrectly it kills me a little inside
a theory i have (based on yours) is that mike and spamton used to be friends, and tenna was this like sleazy dude, but maybe he offered mike a deal he couldn't refuse, so mike started working with him
maybe they have a talk show/gameshow called "Mike N Tenna" (eh? ehhhhh?) -i'm sorry-
anyways, spamton (rightfully) feels betrayed, and that probably sends him deeper into insanity (i mean we don't know if this was BEFORE he got the weird calls or not)
or maybe mike just got mercd lol
My ears bleed every time you pronounce cathode ca-THode instead of CATH-ode
Edit: finished the video, it was like being beaten with a lead pipe, you said cathode so much.
Ps cathode, boob tube and tenna being terms that refer to the same person is an absolute no brainer
Mike: *exists*
The Knight: Am i a joke to you?
Deltarune Community: Indeed.
i think mike would likely be a telephone. tvs likely outclassed phones back then and who knows it could mean something
i don't know much about crt television though so here's a small theory
perhaps it's an innuendo on tvs harming phones, i thought of the reception of crt televisions making the telephones lose connection. but i don't know if this is possible, there's also a chance it could've been radiation.
so here's a theory, perhaps mike tried to help him on the phone, but that damned crt tv made mike lose connection and never talk to em again

In the scean of the spamton value network when they say I'll the ways they'll destroy their tv they say
"I'll destroy my tv for it's horrible crimes"
Note I could have the exact quote a bit of.
I think Tenna is the leader of the gang and Mike is an abused made fun of member he,ll probably be like Lancer and
Stop us but slowly become a good guy
it's not gonna be a man with a television head it's gonna be a tv anTENNA (as head) with with a tv as a body, holy shit we've been confusing mike with Tenna this whole time

Considering the QnA responses to "do you like men" and "what do you think about mlm", mike didn't have to be only his "best friend"
Oh yeah they definitely kissed
Cathode isn't one person, he says 'cathode crew'. That's a group, like the sweet cap'n cakes was a crew. Tenna and the cathode crew are clearly seperate, Tenna is probably like queen or king and is the main boss of the world and the cathode crew are minions. It seems incredibly simple.
THAT Cathode. He said THAT Cathode's crew. Not "The Cathode's Crew". You're implying that "the cathode" is someone that isn't Mike, even though it seems pretty obvious that he was using "cathode" as a descriptor for Mike.
We still don't know if Mike is the Cathode in question and Spamton implies he isn't.
the Cath in Cathode is said like it is in Kathy. so it's CATH-ode.
Just a small note: the A in "cathode" is pronounced like the A in "cat," and the emphasis on on the first syllable.
Im like 100% sure that Tenna’s first name is Ann
Tenna could be a shorter version of antenna on a TV
Im pretty sure spamton said [Cathode’s Crew] to reference Tenna’s crew and not someone named Cathode. Like how he calls Swatch and the Swatchlings [Easels] and Jevil [Clown around Town]
Tenna is very likely the leader, because the name is very similar to antenna, and I think that just clicks well
The spamton sweepstakes are not canon.
I feel like "tenna" is short for antenna
Imagine the smile in the tv is one of the titans and it just means that the roaring is aproaching or whatever its called
"KRIS!!! DON'T BELIEVE ][Anything You See On Tv]] THE MAN'S A CRIMINAL, A CRIMINAL!
"SOON THE QUEEN WILL RETURN"
Yep, Mike will be a funny antagonist for chapter 3 just like Queen was.
Crazy thing that's been on my mind what if tenna is Puzzlevision
Spamton states in the reply: "ARE YOU A PART OF **THAT** [[Cathode]]'s CREW??"
He was referring to someone as Cathode, most likely Tenna as the leader of this said 'crew'
It's like saying "Are you one of THAT 4$$hole's crew?". What i'm saying is that it might be a way to call to Tenna, a Cathode, an adjective. So in my personal pov, Spamton's referring to Tenna's crew as the cathode's crew
also love your videos :D
Bro I just turned off the tv and this got uploaded
I think I should run for my life
Some Diolauge From Spamton NEO
WE'LL TURN THOSE [ schmoes and daves] INTO [rosen graves] AND THOSE [cathode screens] INTO [cathode screams]
He calls them "Cathode Screens"
OK GUYS SO CRAZY THOUGHT THAT'S KINDA UNRELATED
Mike...as in a michrophone...?
Everyone theorizes about Mike, but I just thought Mike was the guy from the Big Shot soda ad from 1997.
Usually this stuff doesnt bother me but cathode is pronounced with a hard "a".
C "AH!" thode raytube.
Sorry lol.
LMAO can you believe some people don't know who MIKE IS LOOOLZ he's Tony Hawks brother. MIKE HAWK
Please..... why did you use an A.I. uspcaler on the pixel art of the TV for the thumbnail... it looks so... bad....
I don't think there's necessarily a "Cathode's crew", I think Spamton was simply calling the TV guy names. The way he phrases "that [Cathode]" and "that damn [Boub tube]" makes it sound like insults.
but HEY thats just a theory, A UNDERTALE THEORY. thanks for watching
YOUR NAME IS DEODORANT NOW
*CiblesGDeodorant*
Cathode- shorthand for the CRT TV
Crew- a group of some kind
Cathode's Crew- A group organized under a CRT TV
Come on, it's not that hard. Further, it's not just 'Cathode's Crew', he calls it 'that [Cathode]'s Crew', meaning that Cathode is definitely not a name, or was at least not meant as such in this case.
just fyi, "cathode" is pronounced "CATH-ode", not "cuh-THODE"
mike is spamton before he met gaster
Guys, hear me out
You know how spamton was installed by a kid using a computer in the librarby in 1997 right?
What if the kid's name was Mike and the person helping spamton out was just the kid in the internet clicking his spam emails and accepting it over and over again (which is why there are alot of virovirokuns aka viruses) and then when the kid has to go via to another place or he just stopped using the computer with viruses, the "man" helping spamton vanished as well and with noone clicking/helping spamton, his business crashed.
anTENNA
As in, the antenna of the TV, as most CRT TVs had antennas ONTOP of them; and what do we see in deltarune? A CRT-esqe TV that has an ANTENNA on top of it.
Very, very, interesting indeed.
Why do you think tenna and the and the cathode crew (pronounced CA-TH-ODE btw) are different? Why can't tenna just be the leader?
