      Since I heard figures of 300 thousand a couple of months ago, I think Katerina is talking about 50,000 casualties in this very latest offensive. I heard a CIA officer say on RUclips that the Russians do not notice casualties until they lose 500 thousand. So fifty thou more to go if that is correct. I also note they are using African and Napalese mercenaries.

      the Russians have definitely had at least 300,000 wounds in the war. That is everything, including the same guy hurting his arm and being taken to a field hospital or someone having minor burns. Approximately 50,000 is how many are actually KIA, buried in cemetaries. The Ukrainian side has something similar but theirs is worse because they really lack reserves. • @hosermcmoose
    @hosermcmoose 15 дней назад +11

    The 50,000 KIA figure is not an estimate, it's a minimum.
    50,000 Russia soldiers killed in action is what could be conclusively PROVEN using publicly available records. We know, however, that those publicly available records do not count all Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine. What we don't know is how much the 50,000 proven KIA is underestimating the numbers by.
    Best guess estimates are about 110,000 Russia soldiers killed and about 200,000 wounded. Ukraine, by contrast, has suffered somewhere around 50,000 to 60,000 KIA and maybe 150,000 wounded (attacking forces almost always suffer more loses than defending forces, and this war is no exception).
    The real question is whether Russia can keep having 50,000+ dead soldiers and 100,000+ seriously wounded soldiers per year, and how long can they keep that up. That is worse than the entire 10-year Afghan war every single year, and they'll need probably at least 10 to 15 more years of it to capture Kyiv (more like 100 to 150 years at the rate their going, but the "best case" for Russia is 10 years more of war at current rate of loses).

      the number of russian casualties (wounded and killed) was approximately 400k in the fall and winter of 2023, now its somewhat confirmed that the number of dead russian soldiers is somewhere between 120-150k, with the number wounded being around 300-380k. so the numbers are steadily increasing.

      All numbers about Russian losses are sourced from Ukraine or UK or US government, all of which have an interest to exaggerate the Russian losses for propaganda purposes. The only reasonable estimate comes from a Western financed Russian "NGO" which counts the war related funerals and obituaries in Russia. This estimate stands at 40k killed Russian soldiers. Ukrainian losses have been top secret during the entire war, and no Western politician or journalist was ever interested in finding out the number or publishing an estimate. Several months ago, the EU commission president Ursula von der Leyen said in live speech that "Russia and Ukraine each lost over 100k soldiers". That sentence was censored in the official video and printout of the speech, but the original was of course on RUclips already.

      @hosermcmoose 15 дней назад

      50K dead is the number that could be conclusively proven based on publicly available records. It isn't an "estimate" but a minimum.
      Best-guess estimate is that Russia has lost about 100,000 to 120,000 and Ukraine has lost about 50,000 to 60,000 dead, with about 200,000 to 250,000 wounded for Russia and 100,000 to 150,000 wounded for Ukraine. We might never know exact numbers, but it is clear that this is the bloodiest war since WWII and it is also clear that Russia is losing soldiers than Ukraine, as can be expected since storming a dug-in position always results in higher loses. Along those lines, a large proportion of Ukraine's loses came from their summer 2023 offensive when they tried to storm dug-in Russian positions.
      As an interesting example of this, Russia has lost a proven 300+ armoured vehicles (video evidence exists showing that many destroyed vehicles), each with perhaps 2 to 4 crew members, attempting to take the village of Novomykhailivka. So perhaps 900 dead and Russia hasn't captured the village yet.
      There were approximately 1,400 people living in that village before Russia's invasion in 2014.

The attrition is grinding down the morale of the Uks. Their morale is showing signs of cracking. With no relief for the Uk soldier on the ground this contributes to crushing their morale.

    It seems to be mostly soviet era equipment and vehicles being used and lost for the most part, the question is whether Russias cutting edge technology is effective or not, the last generation of NATO vehicles is just as vulnerable in this type of warfare. Drones especially are frighteningly effective and the next generation of armoured vehicles needs to be completely redesigned to cope. It seems poor population’s need to be reduced and war has always been the way. Russia can afford to throw poor people and soviet trash at the Ukrainians without really spending massive amounts, they must still have masses of next generation equipment in reserve or waiting to replace lost obsolete equipment. I watch the uncensored footage and it’s a particularly horrible war compared to any in recent years, it’s a meatgrinder on both sides like ww1. Both sides are merciless and effective but losing thousands of men a week regardless of propaganda. It’s a moonscape covered in decaying bodies and burned out vehicles and there’s no hiding from drones dropping granades and spotting artillery on your head. Horrible and terrifying war.

    50k of Russian losses is short by about 9x. When Ukraine reported around 375K Russian losses, US intelligence confirmed about 370K, if my memory is correct. Ukraine is now reporting over 450K. The front line is one aspect of the war in which Russia is currently taking small amounts of territory. More significantly, Russia is crushing Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and other terrorist-style activities. Ukraine has made significant gains in sinking ships in the Russian Black Sea fleet and downing multiple military aircraft assets. It is also making substantial advances in taking out military infrastructure.
