The Irish Rovers were a Canadian band made up of Irish immigrants, and they played mainly traditional Irish folk music with a bit of country and pop thrown in, as well as lots of humour (very funny guys, especially their rotund lead singer Jimmy Ferguson). Their biggest hit was The Unicorn in the late 60s, and they had a popular comedy/variety TV show in Canada in the 70s. By 1980, their career was flagging, and they made a radical left turn musically by recording this song in a more rockabilly/country-rock style, with production by Jack Richardson, The Guess Who's producer. It revived their career, and for a while they shortened their name to The Rovers.

So true, my friends and I were partying, and we saw our buddy running from the cops, throwing beers from the case he was holding, and the cops were tripping over them. He got away, and the next day, the beers were still in the street. That was 25 years ago, but it feels like last week. I was in a van with a girl who turned out to be the district attorney's daughter. Needless to say, I ended up making phone calls from the police station that night. What a party!!!!! My mother yelled at me for an hour, my dad on the other hand wanted to hear every detail. LOL!

These guy's do some amazing songs that are worth a deep dive...not just party tunes. The Unicorn is #1 for them on the charts, Drunken Sailor ( sea shanty...shanty is a style thats up- tempo )then there's Drunken Scotsman ( the wife's fave , she's distantly related to the red head with the beard in the band)on stage they play music that western( Canadian/American's can relate to) all members can speak read and write Gaelic ( Irish dialect, there's several dialect's) and off stage they often play old tunes in a language that was once banned by the English...BTW it was encouraged to bring kids to their shows for the sing- alongs!!!

Brad, seeing as you and Lex are part Scottish, I am curious to know if bag pipes(the Scottish national instrument) give you guys goose bumps/chicken skin like they do me. If you have never listened to them before, Amazing Grace with over 200 bagpipes; live in Berlin is an awesome place to start. I think we're distantly related, I'm part English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, And German, the rest is three different kinds of Native American and French, that's as much as I know, (no DNA test yet) We're all mutts ! Love you guys Thanx, Here's a link to Amazing Grace:~ ruclips.net/video/xKQULTTnaI8/видео.html

More like old school rock & roll to me. But I like it. It's just good fun music!

Great reaction. You need to check out Unicorn from the Irish Rovers. It features the other singer and is another funny song.

If you're coming up with a Party Playlist, you have to add Party on the Patio by ZZ Top. I think it's a law... (If not, it should be.)
