Diana Kaarina gave a very touching performance of "On My Own." I think I liked it so much because it was restrained at the beginning and she waited to really focus her tone and come out with her guns blazing until the bridge. She then reins it in again so that the fortissimo on ""A world that's full of happiness that I have never known" hits you with full effect. In other words, she left herself somewhere to go and room to grow.
Love how Eponine keeps pulling Marius back every time he tries to leave to find help. "I'm fine. Really. Just please don't leave me again!" YEEEEEEESS!!!! FINALLY!!! A version where they kiss while she's still alive!
Gavroche is the youngest child of the Thenardiers, whom they kicked out on the streets of London after leaving their tavern. He went to see them occasionally but had no relationship with any of them, even his sisters.
The film obviously didn't cover everything that was in the book. In the book, Madam Thenadier had a son- Gavroche- whom she absolutely hated. She pretty much threw him out on the street because she didn't want to deal with him, and he took care of himself. If you pay attention to the scene right after A Little Fall of Rain, the shot pointedly switches to Gavroche, who is crying. Also, when they are shown among the dead, they are lying side by side.
Gavroche has to younger brothers who aren't even named who were also kicked out and he ends up finding and caring for them and doesn't even know their his brothers. They show that in the non-musical movie. And in the book but not in the musical. They also don't show that Eponine has a younger sister (Azelma) in the musical.
Diana really enunciates everything doesn't she... I guess that it's not a bad thing... I mean you understand her every word... but... sometimes it sounds funky.
Question 1: why do so many performances take Javert offstage for "ALFoR" if they're just going to bring him back on for "The First Attack"? Granted, his presence would be a bit distracting for "ALFoR," but still . . . Question 2: in this video, Javert clearly gets tied up with his coat on, yet when he comes on in the next segment, he's still tied up but not wearing his coat. Assuming this were real life, would the students untie him, take his coat off, and tie him up again?

This Eponine needs to learn to act and she was rushing thru the song. And this Marius acts like it's another day. Where is the emotion? I guess I'm just stuck on Michael Ball and Lea Salonga's performance. THAT was something to remember.

It was good but Samantha barks and Gareth gates have much more chemistry! And this Marius doesn't look in pain at all! :/
