But if you have to go about an "unselect" the equal amount of edges of witch you have just selected, it´s not much of a timesaver is it?

Searched and found exactly what I needed.
Shame they don't have an "edge select" mode like Blender does.

How about selecting the edges of the text in the center but not the outer perimeter? You'd still have to unselect lots of edges.
Sketchup has a neat "select connected" feature. Nothing similar in Fusion?
[edit] Found the answer: long-click on one edge, a popup menu shows up, select contour from it. Now you can select an entire contour edge.

Just curious... why not just select the top face of that gear shape and add the Fillet command? It would select all the edges that are common with that face? Would it not?

That's a great comment. I'll have to test that 👍😊

Thank you so much. Just saved me HOURS of manually clicking on edges in my current project.

The selection filtering is helpful actually. It would be really nice if you could select the edge you want and have a "select similar" feature that runs through all the edges and finds all similar or exact edges. I think Blender has this for faces, edges and vertices and it looks to be extremely powerful and required for complex models. A lot of these edges I'm needing this for are created using the pattern tool so maybe this is something that can be piggybacked on with the pattern you create, because usually at the edge meeting point of 2 faces you are dealing with 2 edges literally on-top of each other too.

    ***** Great information as usual.
Can you model golf ball dimples in a cylinder head port?

Oh, thank you! My question wasn't exactly the same as Joe's, but I was still using the window-select to try and grab a bunch of edges and couldn't figure out how to get just the top ones. And then you showed me. Yay!

This is going to save me so much time. It also looks like there are a pile more applications for this. Thanks for sharing!

A great tip for models that are complicated and you want to design in a fillet or chamfer to show machinist what to do.

Lars, is a great tip, thanks for all you do! Your smartly named videos made this easy to find when I needed it, too.

Couldn't you just double click an edge and that will select a chain? Then you can do them all at once. I have tried this before and it seems to work.
Love the short videos, great information

I might need more coffee, but in this instance, I think you will run into issues every time it comes to an intersection

Is there a trick to select a bunch of geometry in CAM operations? Just selected over 120 circles by clicking them all individually because dragging on the screen seems to do nothing when selecting cut geometry

    • @cadcamstuff
      @cadcamstuff  5 лет назад

Depending on what you do. There are the select the same diameter as an option in drilling and boring operations

What about engraving? It’s time consuming selecting all the text lettering edges. Any workaround there?

i found unbelievably hard to select one! edge in chain selection instrument for 2d contour. It just continues on selecting five tangent contours around and I cant correctly deselect them. I find the most simple milling procedure to be the hardest, when it comes to edge selecting. In solidcam I can just uncheck tangency box while selecting and it works great, In cimatron I have the best in my opinion contour selecting, and in fusion it is just neverending pain

its really dumb that you have to do that just to select a chain of lines on a part. Solidworks UX is so much more intuitive unfortunately.
