I disagree with the assessment of Caine's novel not being as good as the film. I just read the novel and I thought that it was better than the film in a lot of ways. Phyllis was even more of a creep in it ( she was nuts ) and the ending was more satisfyingly fatalistic.
I don’t know about better, but it adds to one’s appreciation for the book. I agree with the narrator that the movie’s ending is better than the book, however. I listened to it on RUclips last year.
