I bought a Gibson Standard SG last week and got $500 off brand new in a guitar center. They had it marked down from $1799 to $1399 and when I asked if there was any wiggle room they gave me another $100 off. Cardinal red burst, set up great, really loving it so far.

I just got my first SG. Im no pro, so, I got an Epiphone SG Modern with out of phase and coil tap. I cannot put it down.

I always liked the SG Tribute, I had one of those as a backup for my '68 SG. They used to call it SG Special Faded. But nowadays it comes with a maple neck and I really can't get used to it. It feels very stiff and weird for an SG. And these guitars tend to have very sharp fretboard edges, so I prefer a guitar with a neck binding.
I also like the new SG Special, since I am a big fan of P90 SGs. But I don't get why they messed up the positioning of the Bridge Pickup. It is much too close to the bridge, in comparison to actual vintage SG Specials or CS models. Even the Epiphone version is more close to vintage spec, than this one. It looks really weird.
A friend of mine has one of these new SG Standards with the Maestro Vibrola. It is really similar to the former '61 reissue. I had one of these. It sounds absolutely great and the pickups are phenomenal.

Very very much like my sg tribute, walnut finish with the maple neck. Didn't think the maple neck was anything that mattered, but, play this one more than 3 other SGs I have. I will address the fret edges, as I play the crap out of it.

The standard Tribute sg is Gibsons best by far its the closest to the old School Sgs of the late 1960's and early 70's no bells and whistles just straight up Sg power like the old School Sgs where..I paid $1,300 for mine and worth it about the only Gibson that's worth the price tags..my all time favorite Sg is the 2021 Epiphone modern figured Sgs no sg comes close..I'm very fortunate to own both Gibson and Epiphone..

The Gibson standard Tribute Sg is 98% the same guitar as the Gibson standard Sg

The Tribute SG has a maple neck and the Standard SG has mahogany neck.

I know what the specs are on all of them and last time I checked a neck is more than 2 percent of a guitar. Your post does not state that you were referring to any particular part of the guitar so take a hike.

If it's made by Gibson? It's not right for me.
I have sold all of my Gibson gear. And I'm glad I have.
Gibson is a toxic company & And is a prefect example; of everything wrong with Manufacturing here in the good ol' USA.
