The entire Six Degrees was a master piece that doesn't get enough credit. The drumming on this record was probably one of Portnoy's most finest works of all. The entire band was phenomenal on this record!
One of my favorite DT songs. MP's drum parts are insane. I actually love the whole 6 Degrees album, and one of the many reasons is that keyboards sound like keyboards, not like some treated guitars, as too often happens.
One Dream Theaters best in their catalog mad respect for this track one of their best songs love it I am so glad that Mike Portony is back DT one of the greatest bands period
I think it's rather inspired by Rush's "Natural Science". Riff, composition, vocals with effects (in studio version) and lyrics' topic. It doesn't sound like Aenima for me, it has completly different atmosphere. Dream Theater was inspired of Rush many times.
LOOOL! so im watchin the vid, right? Well so im surfin the web too; switchin bcak and forth between pages. Anyways so towards the end of the song i click a link and apparently there was an ad that autoplayed and i didn't know about, so im watchin the end of this song and the ad is playing behind it, so..... for some reason i thought the ad was one of the dialogue excerpts DT have in a lot of their songs..... and i was confused why they would put something about body wash in their song lol
We can clearly hear that Labrie still had problems with his voice... :( Hopefuly it became normal again. In the 2011 version, at High Voltage, I think that he sings it perfectly, but Portnoy is missing :(
After the "Live Scenes From New York" gig his voice was almost completely destroyed. That live took place on August of year 2000. So, it's quite obvious why he sounded that way...
Shame the mix is so bad. Did Labrie not have lung damage at this time which made him lose his voice? I heard that from somewhere, hence why his voice got progressively better later on..
Brilliant song -- probably my favourite of the DT spectrum. But LaBrie is singing flat. Even as a choir boy as a kid from 6-12 we were taught to sing slightly sharp. Isn't anyone talking to him about this? He gets it right in the choruses but in places he's way flat.
A canção é ótima, uma das minhas preferidas da banda, mas essa edição de vídeo tá uma merda, no solo do Rudess foca no Portnoy e no Petrucci, pessima edição
Wish I could unhear this... admittedly Labrie is hit-and-miss, and obviously that night he really missed by a whole lot - but the rest of the band seems to have caught the bug, even Portnoy and Petrucci sound wooden. And the mix - truly awful! What a disservice to such a great song.

immortalsoloist I fucking agree 100%! 😃🤘🔥👊
Abs agree with you
@immortalsoloist, I agree
agree, best record of portnoy
by far their best album. the experimentation, ambience, complexity, melodies, lyrics. everything was totally on point, especially this song
My favorite Dream Theater Song.
Stephen Daniel Yeah! I think that this song is pretty underrated...
Stephen Daniel one of my favorite DT songs as well totally underrated needs more recognition
If i play drum,i feel very long and hard.
this song is awesome. good favorite
I like the bass on the song Panic Attack.

This is a Real Master piece of the progressive in the history!!!
How can you say this is the best?!?! ALL OF THEIR SONGS ARE THEIR BEST :)
lnghrndude02 Well I don't like The Dance Of Eternity personally. Except that, I agree with you :)
I see you made this comment 11 years ago... sadly that isn't the case anymore haha

Great performance, shame the mixing doesn't do it justice.
truth
Something with the RUclips video.
The DVD sounds much better
this is badass..never thought that this is crazy untill recently i play it alot, they had badass brains in their heads, back then...
3:02 dead serious John Petrucci. and does anyone think rudess looks stoned in the first shots
Many such cases!
Why is Dave Grohl playing the keyboard?
why not? he made a nice guest appearance
5:39 Anybody else hear 46 and 2 by Tool? Love this song, love this band, love Tool.
Colin Moser Yeah, some similar. I love the atmosphere that Tool and Dream Theater creates successfully
According to Mike Portnoy, AEnima was one of the albums which inspired the SDoIT writing process.

Maybe they should add some body wash samples 😂
Lol 😂
BEST SONG IN DT'S ENTIRE CAREER.
For sure one of the best, that petrucci solo is golden
We can clearly hear that Labrie still had problems with his voice... :(
Hopefuly it became normal again. In the 2011 version, at High Voltage, I think that he sings it perfectly, but Portnoy is missing :(
Yeah, his voice is awful, my god.
that year James voice recovered
James was a beast in 2011-2014
Damn the show 2 days before i was born!
I could be your father.
Great Nice Sound Drums ... ... ... 😎
The incident happened at the very end of '94, He said he felt "normal" around 2002 and then fully recovered after the six degrees tour. :)
What do you have to say now in 21 century: it’s theater as an art of the show or performance possible? 😕
This is so old... Even Rudess still had his hair.
2002 to be precise. ;)
It’s a wig guys 😂
Old but gold :)
LIFE-TO-SAVE-LIFE
Jordan Rudess hair was awesome!
@crazychris93 Yes! and one of the most epic and amazing endings ever! So progressive
They play it so differently now, at least for Jordan
I was there! :)
Back when Ruddess had hair and Petrucci's arms looked normal.. Still phenomenal though
and when they still had Mike Portnoy on drums... I think Jordan was wearing a wig
3:02 Oh god, that stare really scared me for some reason :d
Are you justifiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied!!!!!!! :) Awesome!
and nobody dared to dislike the video either ;)
11:12 best DT unison ever
This show kick ass!!!!!
woah jordan ruddess actually had hair
neolitchic Yeah I thought he was someone else for a few seconds
Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but it's a wig
just brilliant song
I just found out that Marco Minnemann is good at playing the keyboard
🥰🥰
Great Sound ... ... ... 😎
This is DREAM THEATER
3:04 MY BOY TWEAKIN
When did LaBrie get his major vocal damage? Is it perhaps why his singing is a bit off?
After the "Live Scenes From New York" gig his voice was almost completely destroyed. That live took place on August of year 2000. So, it's quite obvious why he sounded that way...
December 29, 1994, couple of weeks before the Awake tour.
Snarling pig sounds different here. Higher pitched and more robotic.
old school one, the one that jordan uses in korg oasys demonstration is amazing
My favourite version of the pig
Fantastic!
that would be metropolis part 1, or change of seasons, or maybe even six degrees of inner turbulence. octavarium maybe too.
WOW! So Epic song ! O.o
3:04 LOLOLOLOLO That killed me.
Its sickening to see how amazing they are!
Agreed!
this sounds like pink floyd...mighty song, like from another planet
@3:04 Petrucci is Epic
amazing,,,, :)
Mon fils qui aime ce groupe
Horrible camera work!, but gotta love the song!!!
8:02 EPICNESS JORDAN
Pretty sure Myung him at 01:34
@crazychris93 It is my 3rd favorite song of all time =)
i dunno if its because its an older video, but they all look so tired in this video lol. sounds great though.
Some one died by the death stare 3:01
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
So, Myung didnt play this song?? I cant see him :(
Btw, AWESOME performance. PERFECT LaBrie
Perfect Labrie? He sucks in this performance
The bass lines of this song are amazing. But the cutting director totally underestimated jonh myung
its so much better than the studio version.
he got it right before they recorded six degrees. i think.
Well, it's from 2002, and maybe it was later in the concert that night
Shame even back then James’s vocal’s live are still off key, because Six Degrees was an amazing album cover to cover.
What do you have to say now in 21 century: it’s theater as an art of the show or performance possible? 😕
T_T me emocionando demais aqui
💪🏻
Jordan with this visual looks like Nickelback's singer :/ .
"Look at this Prog-iPad"
Shame the mix is so bad. Did Labrie not have lung damage at this time which made him lose his voice? I heard that from somewhere, hence why his voice got progressively better later on..
He ruptured his vocal cord in 1994
Dennis Miltenburg He had his voice injuried after Metropolis Pt.2 Tour too...which he almost lost his voice completely
Oh yeah I almost forgot that, thanks :p. I need to read Lifting Shadows again hahaha.
bass sound come in somewhere! bad camera work
When Petrucci had short hair and was skinny.
Where is Myung?
9:32 LaBrie face
What happened to Jordan's hair?
Why do LaBrie’s vocals have to be flat for most of the song…
The opening voice over was off.
si

Admit it, you only like this song because of the keyboard intro ;)
Portnoy and petrucci seem to be focused / bored in this presentation ?!
7:48
Sound like it was mixed with a Nokia 3310
james' singing is off! i dont think he can hear himself in certain parts cuz he doesnt sound good at all
Wired song
95
Portnoy.... Drumming and singing... Is he really human?????????
Mangini does it better.
2011 version is way better! Labrie sings better there
A canção é ótima, uma das minhas preferidas da banda, mas essa edição de vídeo tá uma merda, no solo do Rudess foca no Portnoy e no Petrucci, pessima edição
