It was almost for the better that the Wings' playoff streak ended this year. Otherwise this moment can't occur. If the last game in a building is in the playoffs you won't always know when the last game will be. This way it was definitively the last game and it got the sendoff it deserved.
The Joe is the only arena i know in my 42 years on this earth and having been away from Detroit for the Navy and now employment reasons, the games I got to make when I was younger and my final game at the joe which was my wife's first game so many years ago will be a memory I will forever cherish. This year isn't so much about "The Streak" as it is about the chapter we close and the new one that will open next season. Thanks for the memories Joe!
Although I'm a Habs fan, I'm a hockey fan. This was definitely an emotional night for them and I wish the Red Wings the best! And so long, Joe Louis arena!
unfortunately that has been so. The recording seems like it has been enhanced a bit since the start of last season, but it will never give off the same feelings and vibes that the real one at JLA did. Glad we at least got 5 final blasts of the old horn before moving to LCA.
“last minute of play in this period”-Bud Lynch... was lucky enough to be there that night for the final game in The Joe...i also now own the seat I sat in for that game...Good Times Great Memories...GO WINGS!
Over the years...I've seen probably 700 games in that building. The new arena is going to be absolutely fantastic, but, I'm going to have many fond memories of the Joe. Being in the stands...the night of June 7th 1997 to watch the Red Wings clinch game 4 over the Flyers to win the Stanley Cup will always be tops on the list.
Glad I took the ten hour car ride to make it here back in December. Sad to see another amazing NHL arena go. Nothing better than the old stadiums. This place will be missed.
I've been to the Garden twice. They re-did the place in 2014 and it is pretty much brand new now. I know it is technically the oldest arena, but it feels nothing like an old arena when you're there.
My Grandfather and my father had the Olympia, Dad and I had the Joe, now my son and I have LCA. I miss Joe Louis Arena but so thankful for the memories of that era.
The Little Caesars Arena will NEVER BE AS LOUD as he Joe Louis arena. And this is coming from a Rangers fan. MSG isn't like it was it use to be since the renovation.
I have all the respect for the fans standing for the Joe im a bolts fan but the Joe has to be one of the best arenas of all time and Little Ceasers will never replace it
Coming from a die hard chicago Blackhawks fan. I’m gonna miss the Joe Louis Arena. I miss the Hawks playing the Red Wings all the time, now that the wings are in the eastern conference(which is beyond stupid) they don’t play there as much. But I will miss the memories and all the great players that have played in a red wings uniform while playing in the Joe against the Hawks!
Isn't there anything that could have been done to continue playing there, now that the Joe is dead Madison Square Garden is the only arena in the league that isn't named after a corporation.
F Dannn Madison Square Garden is a company in a way. They own The Forum in Los Angeles. Speaking of The Forum, I was there for the final home game of the Kings before they moved to Staples Center, very similar ending.
F Dannn I thought the same thing. They could have renovated it like Nassau Coliseum on Long Island and use it as a second arena. But they are past the point of saving it
Little Caesars Arena is a beautiful complex. The vision the Illitch family and District Detroit has for the city is phenomenal! I had the fortunate opportunity some may call this "luck" (as a hockey player since 4 years old and Red Wings fan forever) to be a structural Ironwork foreman on the Little Caesars arena. I hadn' been nor seen the finished product and the last time I put eyes on the arena was when it was just an Iron structure and looking at the prints in my print shack. Until I took my son Duran to his first Wings game vs Sabers and Raymond Lucas scored in OT. 2 words, Absolutely Amazing! What the District Detroit has done makes this the nicest hockey arena I personally have ever seen! We all love the Joe also
I'll tell you when they played the show must go on. There was not a dry eye in the house. To some it was an arena To us the fans of the Red Wings it was home.
I dunno why but I think it would have been a classy move to do a handshake line. I know it's not a playoff game but it's the last game at the Joe. best of luck to the wings and gonna miss the Joe. -preds fan.
Old school, great building.
I like the fact that the Joe didn't change their arena name to any sponsors over the years
Norm Bolduc Now they are moving to the Little Caesars Arena
The new arena isn't really a sponsor considering the family owns it
i thought the same thing Norm
The Illich family owns Little Cesars.

I was at this game. Hearing that horn go off as many times as it did and for so long gave and still gives me the chills. Miss this place.

Not a Red Wings fan, but I'm gonna miss The Joe.
tiladx im a sens fan and agreed
I'm a stars fan and I agree
As a yotes fan same. I luckily got to tour and go to the yotes wings game there in 2017
Watching this makes me want to bring the JLA goal horn back even more...
Little did we know those five blasts would be the last...
unfortunately that has been so. The recording seems like it has been enhanced a bit since the start of last season, but it will never give off the same feelings and vibes that the real one at JLA did. Glad we at least got 5 final blasts of the old horn before moving to LCA.
It’s BACK
"The Joe" will be missed! A lot of great memories here that will forever be a part of Detroit history! GREAT use of the goal horn at 2:30 as well!

NME3 MSG is left as the oldest stadium in the NHL now.
I've been to the Garden twice. They re-did the place in 2014 and it is pretty much brand new now. I know it is technically the oldest arena, but it feels nothing like an old arena when you're there.
Not a Red Wings fan, but this is emotional for sure.
Farewell Joe Louis Arena, you will be missed
It sounded like the joe was crying when the last horn blast played
My Grandfather and my father had the Olympia, Dad and I had the Joe, now my son and I have LCA. I miss Joe Louis Arena but so thankful for the memories of that era.

More than just the last game at the Joe. It was a farewell of 25 years of playoff hockey. Howe and Illich had passed recently before that as well.
Miss it so much already.😢
Rest easy Joe. You did great.
Goosbumps
proud to say i was at that game
Same

Thank You Old Friends
*cries in Pontiac Silverdome*
Happy that I was there for the last game at the Joe.
Honestly this is so sad
Coming from a lightning fan
I have all the respect for the fans standing for the Joe im a bolts fan but the Joe has to be one of the best arenas of all time and Little Ceasers will never replace it
It is sad (coming from a Rangers fan)
A moment of history.

I wish I could have been to Chicago Stadium. I asked a friend what it was like, he replied, "It's like the Joe."
I miss that old place.
rip joe we love you

I dont know if you have ever been there, but it is beyond renovation. Ive been to a bunch of games at JLA, and i was at this game, its bitter sweet
@@MiPolska-em3ty Why was it beyond renovation?

I skated on that ice when I was a kid, in between 1st n 2nd period
glad I got to play on that ice!
I miss having a real goal horn
Even as a devils fan it's great to see the Wings win their last game at the Joe
I saw my first wings game as a little guy in the Joe and I’ll never forgive myself for not trying to see the last one there.
this is Zbergs team now. time to bring a new streak to the LCA
I dunno why but I think it would have been a classy move to do a handshake line. I know it's not a playoff game but it's the last game at the Joe. best of luck to the wings and gonna miss the Joe. -preds fan.
And the end of our beautiful goal horn
This was dedicated to Gordie Howe and Mike Ilitch, whose legacies have been carried to Little Caesars Arena.
Been there 17 times and even a Stanley Cup final game
I wish Mike got to see this. RIP Joe
Ken Daniels and mick with the top tier send off.
Goodbye Joe Louis I and most of the michiganders will miss you. R.I.P Joe Louis ☹️🙁😕😞😔😖😥😢😰😓😪🙏🙏
I’m a lifelong hockey player and my first date with the girl that I love was at a wings game in that building. means more to me than anyone
Love Ken Daniel's analogy of it all

They're auctioning off pieces from the Joe. Tearing it down, in a while, now they play at LCA by the Fox theatre 😒

My wife of 10 years and I had our first kiss in the memorabilia store when we started dating at 15 years old.
Welcome the new little ceasers areana
It was touching, despite hockey being the 4th soon to be 5th wheel of all sports in America (MLS Rising)
Sincerely, a Hardcore Football Fan
