Doing my first oil change today. I'm at 20 hours. Also swapping out the rear coil. Got a softer one from Racetech as I ride more gnarly single track and hard enduro. I know the Stark isn't really built for that as it's on the heavy side compared to my gas bikes, but I still love to play in that stuff.
I’ve read that the oil is supposed to be changed after 5 hours for the break in, in the manual. They also say that it should be replaced every 40 hours afterwards, in the service intervals chapter. Maybe they expect it to be like that after the break in and that’s why they tell the owner to do a first oil change so soon. (I haven’t ordered a Varg yet because I’d like to hear some users reviews first, bur the main reason I have a strong interest for it is, incidentally, the supposed little maintenance required).
Thanks for the video! Sometimes manufacturers will install oils with special additive packages for break in - wonder if Stark did the same? Perhaps the new Valvoline gear oil you installed will come out looking better on the next oil change!
Is that little amount of oil all of the gear oil capacity??? It seems to be very little, even for cooling purpose of the gear. Thanks for your videos, waiting for my Varg to be delivered.
@@bwhaskell Have you changed yours after the first 5hr service? I'm thinking it should be done more often then they say. Its super easy and takes such a small amount of oil i'm thinking why not?
Storm Bee only takes 300 ml ( cc ) so the volume looks about right ; as for that gunk that came out ... Maybe another owner could post something based on their experience but really?
Did you happen to change oil again, i just did my first service same exact oil quality milky but not like cooling leak I’ve seen before. Curious if 2nd oil change was cleaner
Have you contacted Stark and asked rheir technical team? That would be the proper answer. Then we would jnow if they put a special oil in the bike for first fill?
Might want to flush it out a few times. That oil is clearly contaminated. Looks like when my brothers water pump seal went out on his rm80. You could send the oil out for analysis I’d bet money there is water in it.
I actually thought about that and went back and flushed it out a few times until it came out clean. I think if a little water got in it would have veen from washing it but still not sure that's what it is. My guess is assembly lube and such. I'll change it again after a few rides and see how it looks.
Doubt it. Its sealed pretty well. I'd think feom power washing maybe but the car has an o'ring and fits pretty snug. Nowhere else for water to get in really.
Not suprising the oil volume is so low. You just need some gear lubrication. There's no clutch slipping, gear dog legs slamming together or shift components. The color of the oil is suprising. As mentioned in the video, maybe there's some additive? Hard to believe that came from the gears alone. Any ideas on whether this oil touches the motor? Almost looks like contaminates from brushes, though i assume this is a brushless motor?
@@913outdoorsWhen is the next change interval? I recall something like 500 hours, correct? Be interesting to see if the oil is any better. Also, in the Varg official video, I think the tech rinsed the gear box with extra oil before refilling. Might consider spinning up the rear wheel on the stand and doing a second oil change to ensure all the particles are removed.

Yes for sure! Well, the 60hp setting pulls harder than my 450. The 80hp setting is just hilarious. Its fun to play around with but difficult to ride. I usually just hit 55hp and leave it be. Feels perfect there for me.
@@opencurtains9323 probably same as any as far as chassis/suspension. Just depends on how often they are cleaned and lubed. The motor should be in a lot better shape than a gas bike. @913outdoors thanks for the adult reply , not some smart ass reply, I would try one, but sticking with gas and the sound of a 2 or 4 stroke, keep it on 2
@@shawnhorne9296 No worries! I love my gas bikes too. But having a home track its really nice to ride without neighbors even knowing! We have about 20 miles of trail that gets close to some houses in parts and I can ride freely without anyone complaining about the noise. The quiet bikes will open a lot of doors that have been closed for years because of noise. But I totally get it! Gas bikes do sound cool 😎. The silent riding has its charm for sure. @@913outdoors I agree with the quietness. I have about 20 miles of single track on my property too and it's pretty cool to come up on deer, bear, owls and moose because of the lack of noise.
@shawnhorne9296 Everyone says the same thing until they ride one. When I go to the track, I'll let anyone ride mine, and they always come back awe struck.
