Curved monitor just feel better even by watching it from a video haha It does gives an immersion and is more pleasing to the eye in terms of both aesthetics and support.
A salient explanation of the advantages of each kind of monitor. I'm most likely going to be purchasing a flat monitor as making maps and analyzing images are a large part of my workload.
Did people actually watch this whole video? People are saying this video pushed the curved monitor but i saw the exact opposite. Thanks for the video. Helped me choose a flat monitor.
i was looking for a monitor and i mainly need it for editing but of course will use it for some gaming. Most likely story games, because the only game i play competitive is SmashBros. Im glad to hear that curved seems to be the best choice, because i love curved screens but wasn´t sure about the benefits the Monitors have. Great Video
Thanks for helping the peeps in the comments, i also got a few questions: Shouldnt curved be ALSO better for competitive games? Curved gives you a wider FOV, so you can literally see enemies better and faster than someone with a flat monitor, right? And i suppose it makes more sense buying a curved 2k 165hz Monitor 27' inch than a curved 1080P 27 inch 240Hz due to 2k having the better pixel ratio on 27 inches, right? Im thinking of upgrading my 'old' 24 inch flat screen with 144hz.
It depends on the game. On a 16:9 24-27 inch monitor, it's pretty useless unless it has an ultra aggressive curve like Samsung's 1000R monitors, since at normal viewing distances, flat screens of those sizes occupy most of your peripheral vision anyway. Most curved monitors are also VA Panels which has an inherently slower response time and higher input lag than IPS panels, but better contrast. And unless you're buying mid-tier or better ($500+) comes with pretty bad smearing as well. Curved monitors also tend to be ultrawide (21:9) only ones I see putting out 16:9 curved are INNOCN, AOC, Spectre, and Samsung. I definitely do not recommend Ultrawide for MOBAs, and some shooters (I believe Valorant, is an example? Not sure) just cut the missing vertical FOV, so it's basically just a 4k image cut in half which they say is to prevent a competitive advantage.
@@DarkEnigma1115 Thanks for the help, but i already decided on a curved 27' 1440P / 170Hz IPS Monitor from Asus. Got it for 456€ which is 486 USD. Excellent monitor so far.
There is a ton of misinformation in this video about flat vs currved monitors. Pixels have a limited viewing angle and there is distortion when you are not viewing 90 degrees / perpendicular to the monitor surface.... when viewing a small monitor from a distance, the angle to the bottom sides and corners is small... but when viewing a large gisplay up close, you could be viewing the sides or corners of you disp[lay at 45degree off perpendicular, so a flat monitor would appear more distorted in this case... the entire display surface should be equal distance from your eyes, so large monitors that take up a lot of your FOV should be curved in both directions, side to side and up and down, like a globe... but those aren't available yet.
Yep, this video definitely helped me. Curved monitors are better for single player games while the flat monitors are better for competitive fps games like Call of Duty. But what about the 32 inch curved monitors? Isn’t that a mixture of both? I play a lot of Call of Duty, but I also want that extra immersion.
I disagree with that. The most important thing 3 factors are size, resolution, and refresh rate. If you have a larger monitor than a competitor, at a higher resolution, which refreshes faster, you would be much harder to flank, simply because you see more area, and more clearly. Take a 27" monitor at 1440p vs your opponent who has a 24" monitor at 1080p. You clearly have an advantage, bigger screen, so things are bigger, and higher resolution means you see more area. 3 monitors for racing/driving games. The one directly in front of you for looking out the front window of the vehicle. Who wants to look out, for example, only the left window. Flight sims, same thing, otherwise, I would also use head tracking or eye tracking so that when you turn your head slightly, the view on the monitor simulates you looking round like in real life. The most immersive would be 3 monitors WITH headtracking (webcam required but the headtracking software is free and there are tutorials on youtube to show you how to set it up) headtracknoir... google it.

@@kurtwagner16 This is just our opinion, which is not particularly based on these two monitors. Even if its a 16:9 curved, the same thing holds true for them as well.
a 16:9 aspect ratio is a 16:9 aspect ratio and curved or flat is irrelevant. You're confusing ultrawide with normal HD and once you try an ultrawide monitor you would never willingly go back to a 16:9 monitor again. Trust me on that one bro, its the BOMB. Racers, shooters, RPG's it doesnt matter, 21:9 will eventually take over the world. Movies with no black bars at the bottom and top, to simulate 21:9 because your screen IS 21:9..... think about it.
Dude you say "Curved" but most of the time you are talking about ULTRA WIDE Monitors! Which is not the same! Technicaly an ultra-wide display could also be flat. But 99% are curved. Ultra-Wide has an Aspect-Ratio of 21:9 . But there are MANY MANY 16:9 Curved displays. which, if it has R1000 curve, is PERFECT for the human eye! So it doesn't get better than this. Curved can be amazing for watching movies and TV shows as it can completely utilize the screen ratio. Same can't be said about flat ones as they often have black bars surrounding the viewing area.
Aspect ratio and distance to the screen has more impact than curved or flat.. if youre 80 feet, from a 21 inch screen how you going to notice the screen is curved? If you like to get up close and personal, like me, the most important thing is aspect ratio, and 21:9 is better than 16:9 when it comes to movies, cuz no black bars, like you get with 16:9 at the bottom and top. I like my curved 34" 3440x1440 at 21:9, cuz no black bars at bottom and top, and thats through a streaming service or the Blue Ray drive in my PC. 99% dont have black bars. 21:9 rules.... and yes its curved.

wrong, thats resolutions, which seems to confuse you. 1440 is the scrren heidtht, not width, compared to 1080p for example 1920x1080p have the same aspect ratio as a 2560x1440p at 16:9, but the 2560x1440p has a much wider viewing area due to the higher resolution.
the 800 pound gorilla in the room folks!! you have these curved ultra wide monitors, some 49 inches long, but no not at 16:9 instead they shrink your vertical size in favor of the horizontal. NOT GOOD. NOT GOOD AT ALL. Curved screens tend to catch background light reflections and enhance them on your screen not to your benefit. productivity? forget about it!!
a 49" monitor allows you to have far more screen space, on one screen, which can be divided by 3, than three screens that make up the total screen space, such as 3x 27" monitors without bars (screen edges) taking up and/or blocking view, but 3x 27" is generally far cheaper for a REASON. IMO no 49" monitor is worth a crap unless its at least 1440p. You can get (ini Australian dollars) 49" monitors at 1080p for less than $800, but a 1440p woould cost you nearly $1600. You get what you pay for, and unless you have specific uses for that much monitor, probably are not worth it. Itd be far cheaper for me to put two x 2560x1440 (16:9) next to my 3440x1440 (21:9) than to just buy one $1600 monitor at 1440p. 34" ultrawide $600. two times 2560x144p 27"at $248 each. But that isnt the same as having 1x49" monitor at 1440p. Walk into your favorite shop and look at those monitors and you'll probably say "Wow"
So which is better? I’m a curve type of person also looking for like a good budget 165 or 240 hz I was going for GIGABYTE G32QC or ASUS TUF Gaming if theirs a better one would you recommend?
Wrong!! try gaming on a curved 34" 3440x1440 ultrawide and youll never go back to 27" flatscreen again, at least not willingly.
The most immersive would be 3 monitors WITH headtracking (webcam required but the headtracking software is free and there are tutorials on youtube to show you how to set it up)
headtracknoir... google it.
I use flat one cuz curved ones are mostly VA panels. I prefer IPS so i prefer flat one's
curved or flat, VA panels are cheaper, period, and for a reason. You get what you pay for.
Curved monitors are better for single person use. Also not much of a price difference makes curved display even more attractive
eh. ill stick with flat. curved just looks odd
Thanks for this. More useful then the last video i watched
Glad you have found it useful.
Would curved be good for watching 18+ video than flat?
Have you considered VR?
@@Techfluencer i don’t like something wrapping around my head.
@@Properganda5.0lmao
VR is freaking hilarious,. and its pretty darn good for certain games too. Even just watching prime video VR is amazing. youtube 360 is freaking AWESOME. The first thing I did when I got VR, was ride a rollercoaster in Canada, then I watched two guys jump out of a plane with wingsuits, then I watched t2o guys climb the Matterhorn is Switzerland.....
18+ didnt occur to me till later, but its pretty funny.
flat looks so boring....definitely i will buy curved 34´
Whatever floats your boat!
a curved 34" ultrawides craps all over anything 27", period. Make sure its at least 1440p though cuz 1440 craps all over anything 1080p.
A bought out opinion is not good advice lol
The aspect ratio of a curved monitor is just not for me
It can get a little overwhelming at first, but they are often amazing for open world games and screen demanding tasks.
this video is just absolutely stupid. Its not a good comparison. They compare an ultrawide curved Monitor (probably 21:9) against a 16:9 standard flat monitor. You can get get a curved 16:9 monitor with your desired aspect ratio with no problem.
This video was more of an ad for the monitors
i play shooting games like valorant, should i get a curved or flat?
You should go with a flat monitor.
My exact question
Dude you say "Curved" but most of the time you are talking about ULTRA WIDE Monitors! Which is not the same! Technicaly an ultra-wide display could also be flat. But 99% are curved. Ultra-Wide has an Aspect-Ratio of 21:9 . But there are MANY MANY 16:9 Curved displays. which, if it has R1000 curve, is PERFECT for the human eye! So it doesn't get better than this.
You should get your stuff right dude!
Thanks for your feedback!
There are curved monitors with 240hz, 1ms response time. wat u talking bruh
While curved monitor do offer higher refresh rates, they are more appropriate for single player, story driven titles compared to flat ones.
@@Techfluencer why you just focusing on UW? There are 24,27" curved. Tbh I've seen some top players with 24'27 curved monitors
hes just talking about ULTRAWIDE vs flat 16:9 panels ... my class teacher would say, 6 didnt understand the topic.
I dont like sitting close to the screen, can i sit further back and still enjoy a curved screen?
Yes, you can.
Be sure to go with a bigger one.
@@Techfluencer thank you, I really appreciate the feedback
After a certain distance, you cant tell if a screen is curved. Look at a mountain in the distance, from so far away it looks flat. all you see are jagged edges, when you get close you realise that its HUGE.
@@bangyahead1 I get what you're saying but I'm not sure it applies to monitors lol. A mountain isn't projecting an image through a flat surface, and also I'm not gonna be viewing my monitor from off in the distance lol.
Flat monitor is good for gaming Like , velorant , GTA 5 , Battleground Etc
Seems very one sided for a review
Thanks for your feedback.
What type do you prefer?
@@Techfluencer I don't know, that's why I'm looking up these types of videos
@@Trapinnewyork44 If you often play single-player, story-driven games then a curved monitor will offer you amazing immersion.
For regular use and competitive gaming, you should stick with a flat panel.

Thanks for the video, ill stick to buying flat monitors :)
Curved monitors are they good for business?
They work just fine for whatever use you have in mind.
which one is better curved or flat for games like ea fc 25 when it will be out, warzone, fortnite and story mode games ? 27 or 24 inch?
For story mode, we recommend curved and as big of a screen you can get for maximum immersiveness.
For competitive games, go with flat and 24 inch should be enough.
@@Techfluencer yes but the problem is I play all types of games competitive and story modes and I thought of 27inch but idk flat or curved I just need monitor for ps5 not for pc
27" at 1440 will always be superior to 24" at 1080p. Try it, you'll never go back. curved or flat is irrelevant. (having said that I've gotten to where I like a curved monitor, thanks to my 34" ultrawide at 3440x1440 and FC 24 looks awesome on it)
@@bangyahead1 i actually bought 27 but when I'm watching RUclips on console and video doesn't have 1440p or event sometimes when it has the screen is pixeleted and not clear

What do u recommend I want a good curved screen but I only have limited budget?
You can check out some curved monitors from Gigabyte and MSI, they have good ones in an affordable range.
The second thing you can do is look for refurbished or used ones from your local marketplace. Be sure to inspect and look for dead spots.
And lastly, you can just save up and go for the one that makes most sense to you.

electriQ 49SUWD144FSHQ-V3 49" QLED Full HD 144Hz Super UltraWide Curved Monitor

Which can you recommend the Samsung Odyssey g7 or the lg 27gp850 b?
me personally would recommend the odyssey, its what im getting for my brothers birthday next month
I got the G7 at Christmas last year, its peak performance and since its made by Samsung its premium AF. Feels great and I'd never change it, also had the LG model before and it just doesn't feel as good
G7 is 200€more expensive

would curved be good for watching movies and tv shows than flat ???
Curved can be amazing for watching movies and TV shows as it can completely utilize the screen ratio.
Same can't be said about flat ones as they often have black bars surrounding the viewing area.
@@Techfluencer ok thanks
@@Ganganadhi You're welcome.

@@Techfluencer Maybe get a better script writer too. You cant compare apples and oranges. What you can compare are the why's of why your monitors are equal to or better than the competitors.
Curved monitors are not good in first person shooter games like CSGO.
disagrees, if the center of your screen is 27" from your face, then the corners are 28 to 29 inches from your face on a flat screen, depending on the size of the monitor,, of course.
if the screen is curved, then the corners are less far from your face than they would be on a flat screen.
perception is everything......
i don’t know about that but when I tested it, I didn’t like it, and preferred the flat screen.

@@bangyahead1 ah love it when someone tries to tell me how I’m supposed to feel about something
lets talk about the VERTICAL viewing area you LOST going for the ultra wide CURVE. yeah good luck with that, unless youre playing flight simulator or a driving game or shooting from a takn your windhshield style view will not be ideal, which is why this review is total BS
wrong, thats resolutions, which seems to confuse you. 1440 is the scrren heidtht, not width, compared to 1080p for example 1920x1080p have the same aspect ratio as a 2560x1440p at 16:9, but the 2560x1440p has a much wider viewing area due to the higher resolution.
In rl curved looks bad
It does have some perk!
Wrong!!
Cummerata Landing
the 800 pound gorilla in the room folks!! you have these curved ultra wide monitors, some 49 inches long, but no not at 16:9 instead they shrink your vertical size in favor of the horizontal. NOT GOOD. NOT GOOD AT ALL. Curved screens tend to catch background light reflections and enhance them on your screen not to your benefit. productivity? forget about it!!
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
a 49" monitor allows you to have far more screen space, on one screen, which can be divided by 3, than three screens that make up the total screen space, such as 3x 27" monitors without bars (screen edges) taking up and/or blocking view, but 3x 27" is generally far cheaper for a REASON.
