  • Should pastors stay away from politics? I understand the notion, but is that possible? What if there’s so much progressive propaganda that lies seem like the truth, and then pastors teach morality based on faulty information? Today we read some headlines from the last ten days where the truth has been revealed, and the moral implications are stunning.

I’m a sophomore in highschool, I’m homeschooled, and I’m currently enrolled at a local community college, and I was never really exposed to the evil of the world before I started going there. Most everyone there went to public school, and they seem to believe everything they’re told. Luckily we have a Christian club here, and people meet every day and get into conversations about today’s issues with other students. I even got into an argument with a Muslim last semester about how God could be just if He needed His Son to die for everyone’s sins. If everyone just said to the non-believers: “Jesus loves you, no matter what you do,” and didn’t explain how they’re living in sin, none of these people would be saved. Thank you John for providing people with the ammunition needed to challenge the World’s evils. I love the podcast, please keep it up.

Sunday morning is the only opportunity that some uninformed people get to hear the truth of what’s actually going on around us in the world. If a pastor is not addressing the obvious evil all around us and how Christians should be responding to this evil, then they’re not much of a pastor.

John, I am a Pastor of a small rural church in MN. I feel I am a man who sees the signs of the times. I struggle with how much to share at times. I would never tell anyone how vote, or who to support, but my church knows I will talk about politics. I will gladly point out who is or is NOT acting in accordance with God's Word. Thank You for all you do.

Our current situation here in Cleveland is: We hear from the pulpit every Sunday basically this message “You are loved. Be nice.” Nothing at all is mentioned about end times, or the war in Israel. When Roe v. Wade was overturned we were literally encouraged to not celebrate too much because people around us may be hurting. We are so thankful for you and pastors like Jack Hibbs and David Jeremiah. P.S. Our Sunday School class, on the other hand, tells the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. So thankful for that!

In order to understand and discern the signs of the times one must know what's happening in politics. "Although I *[Daniel]* heard, I did not understand. Then I said, “My lord, what shall be the end of these things?” And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand." (Daniel12:8-10)
There are things people of God will come to understand that not one Biblical prophet understood 2,000+ years ago! Because those things will only be understood at "the time of the end"! Obviously the wise will know what's happening politically. The Book of Revelation is all about the coming political Beast System. With the spiritual gift of discernment we can see all that is unfolding leading up to that Beast System! This should definitely be spoken about in our churches!

I’ve noticed this with a lot of churches. Sunday morning is reserved for a salvation message, or maybe Christian living, something along those lines.
Sunday school or Wednesday night service is very different.

    • @angelaford944
      @angelaford944 5 месяцев назад +2

@brandonkeller478 He does not teach that at all! He has a video. I have seen him say that good works can not save you, but faith without work is dead. Meaning that the Gospel has the power to regenerate the heart. Your faith in what you believe and professing it will lead to a transformed life. However, it still isn't you doing it. It is the Holy Spirit that dwells in you that regenerates and changes the heart. It is because America and Western culture have presented a soft gospel and easy believeism that because you said a sinners prayer one time, you are now saved. First off, the sinners prayer isn't even in the Bible. What it actually says is that by confessing with your mouth and truly believing in your heart that Jesus died and was raised on the third day by God that a you shall be saved. James 2:26 talks about this. It doesn't mean that we will be perfect, but a transformation of a person who has faith will be evident. People act as if the disciples and apostles didn't have a transformative life because of Jesus. Maybe you just don't like Voddie because he is biblical. He is convicting. If that's the case, it isn't him convicting you. That's the Holy Spirit. Stop baring false witness against a true teacher when there are several false teachers you could be calling out, and I will start Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, Mike Todd, Steven Furdick, Bill Johnson, Kevin Copleand, Jesse Duplantis, Beth Moore, ... if any of these are your real teachers, you might want to pray and read your word. Have a blessed day!

In my experience, one of my biggest issues with the church up here in Canada, is they are to afraid of push back from secular society. That dictates sermons and especially live streamed sermons, because the pastor's would rather avoid the controversy. To God the path is narrow. I'd rather see our pastors and leaders take a stand, and let the chaff seperate itself from the wheat. The church as a whole needs the fire of the gospel underneath it. This lukewarm nonsense is getting us nowhere. Persecution of the Christians is growing ever strong. We in the west have never really experienced that. We need to take a good hard look at Jesus, and Paul etc, and plant our feet on the rock. Loving our neighbour is being honest about what the Bible teaches, not watering down, or apologizing for the character or Jesus. Keep preachin the Good Word, John!

Non-Christians expect the church to be tolerant. They expect us to live by the only scriptures they can quote.. "don't judge" or "turn the other cheek".
In my belief, the church has become far too tolerant. We have allowed darkness to infiltrate the pews AND the pulpits. You're correct in that the church must stand up and teach end times and the consequences of sin in regards to the end times

First time listening to your podcast, came over after seeing you on Alisa Childer’s podcast- instantly a fan!
Thank you so much for this message. I have been researching a lot into this Marxist-Woke stuff and where it’s coming from, and when I express concern about morality or society, I am continually told by well-meaning Christians that I shouldn’t be “political.” I am so frustrated by this.
First, George and did some studies on political activity between conservative Christians and more liberal, progressive Christians, and guess who is more politically active? The liberal Christians, not the conservatives! Yes some small level of Christian Nationalism exists, and we should absolutely condemn it and be concerned about it. But from a purely statistical perspective, the “Christians” that are more politically involved are not the conversation ones nor the one promoting Christian nationalism. Any citizen has a right to be involved in political as much or as little as they want to, and their worldview does lot and should not disqualify them from this. The whole “it’s not Christian to be political” is a ploy to keep conservative Christians out of the political arena. And we largely have, and then we wonder why every major institution has been taken over by Woke ideology. No, conservative Christians themselves (not pastors) need to politically involved. We need to get back in the game. Not because we want some Christian white theocracy. No, but simply because in our representative government, we have a right to have a say in how our society operates. We still need to operate within the democratic process and procedures that our Constitution and laws outline, but there is no reason to not be involved or represented simply because we have certain religious beliefs. Christians, stop believing this lie that you are somehow behaving “unchristian” to be involved in politics. If anything, my drive towards politics is exactly because I love people. I know many of this communist-Woke policies will hurt and destroy my lives. I am not trying to mandate a Christian worldview on everyone, but because I love my neighbor, I fight for policies that I think we actually help them. They may disagree, but they are doing the same- they are fighting for policies that they think will help humanity. Why should I be excluded from the debate, simply because I have different ideas about which policies help and which do not?
Second, I noticed that Joy Reid said that Iowa was “overpopulated” by white Christians. She said that Iowa is 60-something percent white Christian when the nation as a whole is only 40-something percent white Christian. Well Mississippi is 39.08% black, but the black population of US as a whole is only 14.6%. Does that mean that Mississippi is “overpopulated” by black people? I doubt she would phrase it like that. States have different demographics, duh. The shouldn’t be penalized for that.
Third, Biden recently held a rally at Mount Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, S.C. If white Christians supporting Trump is somehow “white Christian Nationalism,” then why is no one calling this event evidence of “black Christian Nationalism?” If conservative Christians should not be involved in politics, then why is ok for liberal Christian to be involved, even holding a one-sided political rally from the pulpit of a church!? This just goes to show that the concerns about Christians involved in politics is a lie. When people say that, what they really means is that they don’t want conservative Christians being involved in politics. It’s a lie to keep conservative Christians out of the conversation. Stop believeing this lie.
Looking forward to reading your book!

We switched churches in Oct 2020 after talking with our then-lead pastor and realizing he would not waiver from his stance of obeying the government when it came to masking in church; he and the elders pretty much forced all the leaders (elders, worship team, youth group leaders, etc.) to be "united" in wearing masks--not understanding that that put some of us in a catch-22, those of us who wanted to honor our pastors and yet were convicted not to wear masks because the narrative behind masking was based on lies & propaganda. He never spoke from the pulpit about what was going on in society at that time, and we have heard from friends who still attend that church that the pastors there STILL do not address anything that is going on in society--even though their flock has to go out and do life in said society 95% of the time; but no, no shepherding from the pulpit in that church. It's unfathomable to me.

We went through the same thing at around the same time. I never felt 100% at our previous church, whereas the pastor always preached feel-good sermons, never addressing sin. But through attending freedom rallies at Arizona's Capitol during the lockdowns, we met some awesome new freedom -loving, truth-convicted friends and were subsequently guided to Trinity Church with pastor Mark Driscoll where we're currently thriving!

A few of us left the church in Edmonton, Alberta we'd been at from between 5 and 30 years in 2021.
The theology was slipping, big time; more concern with kowtowing to 'minorities' and declaring treaty land rights statements before services; lack of Biblical doctrines taught, more fluff on Sundays; and what broke the camel's back for me, not permitted to sing in the Choir unless one had 2 shots.
I know there are many folks feeling depressed, humiliated, rejected, angry, abandoned and spiteful because (some of) the Church stopped being the Church.
      Happy ending...
We have landed in an amazing fellowship and are being given so much Truth in sermons, children's time, songs, and Life Groups, we feel like refugees who have found home.
Glad you were strong enough to move on.

Another big “what if” for pastors who refuse to speak on politics or morality - what if people are confused or torn by the ideas they hear from the culture? What if they have questions?? If they don’t get clarity and Biblical worldview from their pastor, they WILL look for answers elsewhere. Trust me 😕 People will find answers and be told what to think if they aren’t being taught how to think Biblically about everything.

I am fully on board with all that you're saying. In 26:13 minute 26, you give the biblical definition of a prophet. I have always heard it's not so much about future telling it's about seeing the world around them and being able to Interpret
and speak about it through a super natural empowered way. In Ephesians four, there is distinction in these callings, basically the caveats that you gave. I agree that there should be some overlap in the calling where prophets (lower case p) can do some evangelism and vis versa. I appreciate the grace you give for people to follow their calling but also need to be aware of the things around them. Just wanted to throw that verse out there and let you know I appreciate all your content!

Not a Christian thing to say, but every time I hear Joy Reid speak it is incredibly infuriating. She is such a divisive person who has so many racist views, I’ll say it nicely; it’s despicable.

With everything happening around us, those who dont see the enemy moving through the church, school, and politics, are destined to fall to the enemy. Be led by the Holy Spirit and do not perish due to lack of knowledge. Dont be blinded that its just "politics". Open your eyes to see and your ears to hear. Thats how we know how to pray. God bless!

Im a genuine human being and I must say now is the time to have conversations with your "enemy". Have those difficult discussions with your family and neighbors. Always stay calm and keep love in your heart when doing so. Jesus wanted us to do this, not for us to "worship" him. There once was a nation riddled with propaganda and corruption from the media that the people voted in someone to "save them". This person told them he believed in the lord and would save them from immigrants and "weak men". That person was Hitler. History is ryming and as a human I genuinely recommend having genuine conversations again. Propaganda is meant to dehumanize people and upset you. If your media is doing that then its not informing you, its controling you.

Isaiah 9:6-7 is a statement that has political implications
Revelation 5:9-10, 19:16 same, have political implications
Matthew 2:3 King Herod seems to understand this-why would he be troubled if Jesus was just coming to be Lord of your heart?
Luke 1:52 Mary seems to understand this, as well.

I appreciate you bringing the point of God's lines in the sand of worshipping the other gods, and what comes from it. We kinda get what we deserve... as painful as it is.
Also think of Daniel praying and thanking God that He sets up kings, and He brings down kings. There is a comfort in that, He'll bring the ungodly ones down after there time is done.

Whuht eeif! Whuht eeif! Whuht eeif! Whuht eeif AiHeuh! Great song. You put it very nicely, but yeah, we do have to stand up for truth, and sometimes all it takes is just standing up for it to stop the scourge of stupidity rolling across our nation. Are you sure you don't want every Sunday to be MAGA Sunday?? I'm just kidding of course... I do happen to support MAGA politically, and that's because A. Jesus hasn't come back yet, so how can we expect him to be president and B. What other option do we have? We have a guy in Trump who will stand up for freedom, free speech, religious freedom, etc. Yes, you're right, the GOP will take us to hell way slower than the Left, but that's just the case. It's politics baby. It's money. It's dirty, nasty things we don't want to know about (see the bribing of Kari Lake if you haven't heard about it yet), so I totally agree with you. I kind of feel that the world is just built to take us to the 2nd coming of Christ eventually -- it's just programmed in.
You've already talked about this, but a thing that's starting to take over churches is the homosexual agenda (drag, trans, non-binary included). And I think there's a difference between showing love while saying come to church and let me show you about Jesus and outright saying God supports living a gay lifestyle. On a side-note: Paul says to treat the sin of the people we minister to / speak with as very dangerous, so there also have to be boundaries for helping people openly in bondage to sin.
But you're right -- we're at the point where we have to stop playing nice-nice and "I'm staying out of politics" and instead get our hands dirty a little. We have a little something called a republic (if we can keep it); it's an instrument our founding fathers gave us so we can worship freely (unlike in England at the time). Martin Luther started the Protestant Church by openly rebelling with his 95 Theses. Christian pilgrims came to America for freedom to practice Christianity the way they wanted to do it! America (or the colonies) was originally started to escape tyranny -- not create it! Politics start locally, and so do a lot of our freedoms. But the national stage trickles down, and you can see an obvious push with Leftist agenda in businesses and media after having a Leftist President in office.
Plus you mentioned abortion. That's a local issue now, but it could become a national one again (and no candidates for President are pushing for true pro-life policies). Desantis signed a heartbeat bill which still allows exceptions for rape, incest, life of the mother, and even if the child is diagnosed with some sort of life-debilitating illness -- and you still get 6 weeks! It sounds like Trump wants a post-15-week ban but said he'd negotiate to make both sides happy. Can we say some sort of a ban is better than not having one at all? Yes. Is it truly pro-life and what we're after? No. All that to say politics and politicians (like you said) are not the answer. Even in the Bible it says not to trust in powerful people because they eventually die or retire, and their policies go with them! Getting involved in politics is like do you want changes to happen to your life yes or no. We get a say. I don't expect Jesus to reign on Earth until he actually does.

Would you want people to prohibit you from changing your mind or your stance on something you may have believed or felt five years ago, based on five years' less experience and knowledge? People change; our minds can be changed, depending on what we have learned about a subject; our hearts can change, our values can change. Few of us understood how "politics" would interfere with and damage our daily lives, inside and outside the church, so you'll forgive Cooper if he said something a few years ago and has since changed his mind based on the culture wars.
And I put politics in quotes, because most of what we're dealing with in society is not political but rather moral in nature.

I get it goverment can do bad things and there can be overreach. But you are sometimes acting as if God somewhere stated that disobeying authority is our right.
