Permethrin solution applied to your lower half clothing will prevent the ticks getting too friendly. You may find that you get more condensation on/in your down sleeping bag from being inside the bivvy bag, yourself being the generator of the condensation!

Yet another very informative video Hazy. Glad to see you take Delta Pegs, I`ve been using them for 20yrs. I also have eight stainless Deltas. Sadly the chap who invented them Rob Orr died a few years ago. Fortunately his wife has carried on the business, Dorothy, such a lovely lady. Best pegs by a mile in normal ground conditions. Cheers Pal !

I have the tick tools, they go in the bits and pieces pouch, worst I've had is an annoying itch after pulling one out, more annoying when I find them on my dog.
I don't think I'd go with the blow up motor especially now you said it takes a minute and a half, the pump sack only takes a few goes, can do it in half the time and it doubles as a dry bag for your extra clothes or a pillow as well.
I don't have a bivvy bag but would consider one for prolonged rain, synthetic sleeping bag only, wouldn't risk having down.
I highly recommend the Grayl Geopress water purifier, no need to carry a separate filter and water bottle. It takes the manky fluoride taste out of tap water which shows how good it is, expensive but worth every penny and will last years.
I bought a bumbag last summer as well, use it to carry the monocular, phone goes in the top pocket of my pack.
For this summer I'm thinking of going extra light with the Pathfinder bottle pouch so no need for a pack when out just for the day. £35, worth a look.

@@blackdogwildtrails3123 yeh that part of her videos does get a bit OTT at times and her intro is as long as some people’s total videos! 😳😂 .... but suppose that’s her ‘schtick’ and it does appeal to a lot of people ... On the other hand she’s shared some incredible places and travels with us all and it’s obvious she puts a lot of time / care into both cinema photography and production. Consequently her finished videos are awesome to watch for that and that’s why she’s probably one of Britain’s leading backpacking and hiking vloggers .... ATB

Best tip I got for the WHW was take a pack of Berocca or other non branded effervescent vitamin tablets. Easy way to get more vitamins in ye and a nice flavoursome treat in the mornings.
Also watch put for the pub in Kinlochleven. There's a minimum spend for card and no cash machine in town so I er, had to buy 4 pints of Guinness... 👀

Thanks for reminding me to take my tick tool, which I ve never used.I was told by a doctor to make sure you twist it the right way , clockwise , other wise it breaks off and infects you . I m on the Cleveland Way soon.Proper ultralight. No need for cooking gear, never used it or found a need for it on any big walks such as Pennine Way .There s always a pub or a cafe or something handy every 10 miles or so and I can do without water or food for ten miles. My base weight 2.5 kgs lol Can t believe all that stuff you drag along with you but you re young and strong and can handle over 10 kgs with ease..I ve never thought about hiking poles but you need at least one for that big Lansham thing.Mines a Terra Nova Laser Pulse 1.. 500 gram double skin. I don t need any room because I don t cook. A pro plus in the morning gets me going till a pit stop

I often go to the army surplus store in preston and have had some amazing deals. Next on my list is a bergen. They look real quality kit. But ive had so many superb quality items from there. Anthony the owner even gave me a pair of MTP combat trousers for free simply because of my past business with them. He'd even ordered them in especially as they didnt have my size in stock at the time. A couple of months later i got a call to tell me theyd tracked some down (brand new as well). When i went to buy them he said 'just put em in your bag'. I was gobsmacked. Modern retailers just dont do things like that. Or so i thought. So anyone in the preston/lancs area looking for some decent kit and some really great deals i thoroughly recommend feltons off deepdale road. Anthony and his son Scott are also two top blokes.

In saying that, I can't resist.... Beinglas farm at Inverannan is a 'must' stop though although they don't have a proper drying room the pub is essential, especially after the last few miles of the long stretch up the side of Loch Lomond which can be so boggy to the point the path is flowing water. It's brutal as much as it is beautiful. The main area to worry about ticks is Glencoe especially nr the Kingshouse Hotel where the deer are practically tame, so loads of ticks. Stay Hazey! 🍄

I'm gonna do LEJOG next year. I'm ex army so I'm experienced enough. I don't know why, maybe I'm just an idiot but I really wanna do opposite to everybody else... I wanna take a glamping kit! I wanna be the first person to glamp lejog without dying carrying the kit. I'll bring a trekking trolley and just put up with the extra weight as and when I can't use the trolley. I have an ultralite kit, however, spending two months in a 1 man tent isn't my idea of fun when you've got a marathon to crack on with every day. And so, despite my trek partner's bitching I'm thinking I might mix it up and see what happens... worst case, I'll get my missus to meet me with my ultralite kit and swap it out if necessary...

and another great no nonsense informative video.
being a more fair weather casual outdoorsman, i probably wont need quite as much kit.
however, many thanks for the very useful tips and info!
i really appreciate what you do,
    kind regards.

love all the gear.... you gotta be careful with those hand warmers though. I have heard of them melting the inside of your sleeping bag or quilt.

Cracking gear reviews, I’m doing the WHW later this year with a few of my mates, never thought to take a bivvy to stick your sleeping bag in, will definitely be doing that👍.

If I could get time off bloody work me and my mate want to do the WHW. I even bought the pretents soloist in anticipation. Some good tips here. What about grub though?? Dry stuff or pub grub. Fingers crossed we get it done this year mate. 👍

Sorting my stuff out for C2c in a few weeks. Like you I'm not going ultralight as a 12day wild camp you need to look after yourself and decent strong gear is essential. Still debating lanshan 1 or tarp & bivvy. Would prefer the latter for its versatility but the lanshan is so light. Going to have to carry rations too as eating out is going to be sporadic at the moment but parking near halfway so can resupply at that point.
