I wish we had more areas like this. It's very dangerous to be a pedestrian in the US, with pedestrian deaths climbing every year. Most of our cities are designed that you really can't get anywhere without a car, and traffic in a lot of the cities is horrid on top of that. It's mostly due to our backwards zoning laws. Politicians are all focused on silly nonsense rather than fixing basic things that are easily agreed upon--like infrastructure.

Years ago we nearly had a head on collision with American tourists driving on wrong side of the road, the wrong way on a one way street, through our town at night. They ignored many signs. Instead of decent road map they had massive land map of the UK open in their car. I politely advised them to learn street signs and how to read a map.

Two years ago I had a man from wales who crashed into me and my child because he was driving on the wrong side of the road. Head on collision. It was a one way street at night time. Everyone was thankfully okay but my car was not. I understood the man was not from my area and I hugged him and told him I was glad he was okay.
