    We had an exchange student from the US here a few years ago who wanted to go really fast on the Autobahn for once. We took him in a car that really does go 300 and drove to a good stretch where you can go that fast.
    The scene was very similar to your clip. Until 180 he was quite happy, at 230 he said it really was enough, beyond 250 he was begging for mercy...
    I don't think he wet himself, but sure came close...
    Not that we were "used to" driving that fast either, but we didn't let that show.. ;)

      @@MrTorbz I've done speeds way beyond that on bikes, and driving cars, but mostly on racetracks / closed off roads.
      You never get "used to" driving that fast on public roads, because there are lots of other people / factors around that are totally unpredictable, especially on a bike where you are so easily overlooked.

      For Americans that's 186 mph, which is also about the top speed for high speed rail in Europe.

    • @stuborn-complaining-german
      @stuborn-complaining-german 2 года назад +93

      Yes, all the fastest conventional high speed trains (TGV, ICE, Shinkansen,...) have a maximum speed of around 320 km/h in regular operation. They can only go that fast on sections of the tracks rated for such speeds, so the limit is actually the tracks. The trains themselves could go way faster.
      The current speed record is held by the french TGV at 574.8 km/h, that's about 357 mph !!!
      So if you want to go really fast while relaxing and looking out the window... take the train!

      We do not like our drinks to be watered down and we pay for a 0,5l drink and not a glas full of ice with a little bit of liquid. One day US Americans realize that they are getting ripped off with all that ice in the glasses I think the tradition of free refills came from someone who complained about a half empty glas. Just try it when you are back home. Get a normal drink with ice and an empty glas, now pour the drink into the empty glas without the ice and you see how much you really get for your money. 😉

      May I ask what your reason was to move to germany? I'm considering moving to america.
      I personally made a different experience with the police and the Polizei. The police in german is pretty distanced, cold*. I feel like they are pretty unfriendly too and do their jobs as if they just wanna get done with every case asap, as if people were some kind of paper work. I ran into a police officer in america. I did only once but this police officer actually cared about me, I could tell. He was being very friendly and just made it obvious that he seriously wanted to help me.
      Not sure if that's just a cultural thing but imo german police officers are not very sympathic

    Myself and a couple of buddies backpacked Europe in 2017. When we got to Berlin it was 90 degrees F, (32.2 C) and was the start of June. A heat wave. As we made it to our small hotel room, we were dripping in sweat. There was no AC so you would sweat right away after a shower. We couldn't even open the window because of the mosquitos. But ill never forget my buddy rushing over to the Fridge and getting what he thought was water. Took a massive sip and then started to choke/gag. Turns out, most of Europe drinks sparkling water as their go-to instead of tap water. They call it "Still Water" and you have to ask for Still water or you will get sparkling. Nothing worse than thinking your gonna have some ice cold water after walking miles all day, only to have it be sparkling water. I was laughing pretty hard tho. • @jamesbowling9293
      @jamesbowling9293 2 года назад

      I mostly agree with your statements about standard of living and neighborhoods, but simply put: Most of the neighborhoods you'll find that are that bad, and I live near a few of them myself, are generally that way because of the people that live in them. They don't respect the neighborhood in the traditional way most do here. To them it's just a shitty cheap place, or maybe even the only place, to live and it won't get better until they themselves care about the neighborhood as well. The roads do suck. Fuck the people behind that, and we hate it too. And honestly when you consider our nations lack of export goods our economy stays alive pretty well and when it suffers like right now it is, it's usually the gov'ts fault for doing some dumb shit. Most other nations that are close to us in GDP have a lot more export goods and better international trade. Considering though, that we don't do enough exporting and the fact that the poorest of our poor still live a better life with higher quality of living than many people throughout the entire world, I would say we're not doing too bad. I mean point in case, Being homeless here generally means sleeping on a friends couch or going to a shelter. The majority of homeless throughout the country only go without food a day or two at a time, something I do intentionally fairly often because I'm a tight-ass with money. In my city there are often "homeless" people pan-handling outside of a walmart, yet when I worked there the manager and I would go offer them jobs and they would say no. And poverty here really is your own fault, with the exception of certain individuals in certain circumstances. There's always a way to make money in this bitch. I myself have been unemployed for a year consecutively in the past and still managed to do just fine on my own without turning to crime. Even crime like tax evasion or operating a business without a license etc, perfectly legal and still made enough to keep my head above water and not have to work in shitty ass factories. Hell I had a buddy whose dad's back was crushed by an I beam and couldn't work in the traditional sense so he started up his own small business and did fine(as well as receiving disability pay). It's more about willpower and motivation than lack of opportunity, especially now with the free marketing you can get for yourself on social media. There's plenty of room for improvement in our workforce don't get me wrong. Low end jobs are almost always worse here than in any other first world country. Most European's I believe can get leave for almost any valid reasoning from better paid and longer lasting maternity leave all the way to your kid needing something small. Here though if your kid has a mild emergency at school and you have to leave work to deal with it, low end jobs very well may fire you for that. I believe Europeans often get twice as much vacation time as we do as well. Actual holidays I believe they get off for, as for us its only the really big ones, and often the case not even because a lot of our workforce is in the service industry which doesn't close down for most holidays. Healthcare system sucks, most would say because there isn't much gov't healthcare that's good but in my opinion its actually the fault of health insurance companies that make healthcare so unobtainable for most. And another thing, the United States is fucking HUGE. Maps don't do its scale justice. Because of this we have a lot of diversity both financially and culturally. The point, Just because you experience Southern California does not mean you've experienced Northern California, let alone the rest of the US. States here can easily be just as jarring as going to other countries throughout Europe, in some cases even more so. I live 30 minutes away from a metropolis city in a rural area, if I drive down there, everything is different. Different state technically so different traffic laws and regulations, slightly different economy, higher cost of living yet oddly enough similar wages. If I go another hour south of that, completely different story, rural area again but yet completely different culture and cost of living than both the metropolis area and my home area. hour and a half of driving, three different cultures vaguely, and three different economies. Now imagine how much different it is all the way on the other side of the country. 2 days of drive time non stop in distance. The whole of the US is hard to judge unless you've been to all of it. Really big place with lots of ethnic and economic diversity. Hell for the last few years cost of living has been going up in my hometown alone at a faster rate because people from the metropolis south of me want cheaper cost of living. I'm sure that happens in Europe too but its kind of my point. They come here only 30 minutes away to get a cheaper cost of living, yet get out of it a better quality of living. 30 minutes away and they get both cheaper and better quality of living. The US is not the same everywhere. Sorry this was so big.

      Honestly the walking bit has become less common here in Sweden since I was a kid in the 80s. Crime has gone up (a bit), traffic has gone up a lot and parenting is different today. When I was a kid in first grade (!) I had never _heard_ of anyone getting a ride to school! It was not a thing that existed...
      Now if you live in a some parts of some citites, kids are not even allowed to walk by themselves before 4th grade. Where I live there are no such rules, but still kids get driven to and from school. We do the same thing, at least in winter but now the kids are 8 and 10 years old, they do go by themselves more and more.

      Many places in us kids walk to school and very safe. Unfortunately media pushes only the bad and so people assume all America is like the worst seen often in big cities. Which is far from truth. The same with all places in the world. It all depends on where you live. America is huge. So likely their surprise is due to the situation where they live in the country not a reflection of the norm.

    This video is funnier than part one! 😂 Cause as an American, I can actually relate to the American in this vid, mostly on the driving (I freak out & my already bad anxiety goes through the roof if someone goes 80 mph) & the air conditioning (I live in California, if I don’t have it I’ll die). Tbh honest I thought Germany actually had Air conditioning lol, guess not everywhere. Cheers from the good ol’ USA! 🇺🇸❤️🇩🇪

Hate the gun part though; though I can see where it comes from. I knew I wasn't in American anymore when I first arrived for the first time at the airport in Germany and the polizi were carry around rifles on their back. I did double take. I would love driving the auto bahn, they have speed but also strong rules to ensure safe driving. Either way, I wonder what the German perspective on Russia is right now.

    • @dannylojkovic5205
      @dannylojkovic5205 2 года назад

      It seems very mixed. Some want the war to end immediately and have Ukraine cede territory, and others want to keep backing Ukraine until Russia gives up. I don’t live in Germany but I read their news and talk to Germans on the internet. It’s interesting in Europe the far-right and the left to far-left tends to be more sympathetic to Russia. In the US it seems that the far-right is sympathetic to Russia, but our left and far-left can’t stand Russia. The anti-Americanism seems to be based largely in US foreign policy since the Cold War, as well as the US having troops in Germany and other parts of Europe via NATO. Because of that, some Germans want to get America off their back and seem to think moving closer to Russia would be more beneficial. If Russia were a stable democracy that’d seem like a better idea, but considering it, you know… isn’t and it seems like that’s fairly short sighted
