Very very true. One of a kind. But there were many times those guys tackled him, it just wasn't their video, and they were routine tackles ;) Regardless, he caught those HOFers slippin too and made em Pay! LONG LIVE THE BUS!!
I swear the Bus reminds me of an old friend of mine named Darnell. The biggest strongest mutha around, yet so nice and kind and when he was around you just felt safe around him. Very unusual presence to have when other Men feel safe. I would cry for that man too. He always smiled and when he did you smiled too. Damn I didn't know how lucky I was just to meet people like that. So, you can see why Jerome Bettis was so loved. The mentality of life is just as big as being a Legendary football player, and The Bus, was all of the above.

I’m from Detroit. My mom’s family is from Pittsburgh, where the Terrible Towels were considered essential home decor. My aunt and uncle, especially, turned me into a Steelers fan. I was 10 in 2006, and I can still remember sitting on their couch watching Roethlisberger take Nick Harper down by the ankle. Harper had just been stabbed the day before the game too. I was so pumped that Bettis, Polamalu, Ward and the rest of them came to my hometown to win the super bowl. I remember watching Bettis announce that the last stop was in Detroit. Miss those days, that team, and the time I had with Uncle Lonnie and Aunt Sandy. 💛🖤
When you think of Steelers football , defensive players usually come to mind first. But to this lifelong Steelers fan Jerome "The Bus" Bettis epitomized hard nosed Pittsburgh football. He had the fastest feet and great agility for such a big man. An icon for the team, and an awesome individual off the field as well. Man, I miss watching his celebrations after a big play. The current team sure could use a player of his caliber right about now!
This is a real Steeler. Both on and off the field. I wasn't old enough for his glory days, but my family always talked about him when we would talk Steelers.
Super Bowl XL was the first Super Bowl I remember watching when I was a little kid. I didn't know anything about the teams but my dad told me he was rooting for the Steelers because of Jerome Bettis, so that's what I went with too. After learning a bit more about him throughout the game and seeing the poetic ending to it all, I was hooked to football for life. I'll never forget that. I thank Jerome Bettis for instilling a love of football in me. Thanks for this video, it was very well done and brought back a lot of memories.
