@NovaPrime Productions The movie is great but the series is better. Also in the original comics Frank Castle is a US Marine, not an FBI Agent, so actually the series got it right. I just think Jon B is better for the role
People seem to not realize how amazing Thomas Jane is as an actor, and how well he portrayed this version. People have to remember that at this point, he watched his wife and son murdered in front of his very eyes, while he was helpless to do anything about it. Through out the entire movie, he is crushed and seething, and all he sees is red. He has one objective and that's kill everyone. Yet, he's calm and collected while he interacts with everyone. Even when he's torturing someone. He shows his intensity during certain situations, but other situations he lets it wash over him. I like to use these examples all the time with this character, and actor. Mel Gibson's character in Lethal Weapon went through a similar scenario. Same emotional trauma as Frank Castle. Both, have tried to commit suicide, but with Castle it was one and done, realizing his purpose to achieve his goal, not caring if he came back or not, and he doesn't purposely put himself into a situation, unless he knows he can win. Gibson's character is more "crazier" and suicidal, throwing himself into situations not really planning them out in the process, or caring what kind of outcome happens. When Jane and his character is listening to this guy play his death threat, he as Frank knows that this guy is gunning for him, yet.. he calmly lets him finish, knowing there are innocent civilians in harms way.. He leaves them out of his business and takes care of him down the road. Literally. You can't read his emotions during this time, because he's so calm about it.. yet, he's fully aware of the situation, knowing at any moment this guy could open fire on him and not care about the innocent people in the diner. Christian Bale and his version of Batman is in a similar boat as Mel and Jane. The only difference is, he shows his anger and intensity a lot more openly through out the movies, and seeing your enemies emotions can always be used against you. Albeit, he's more collected in his thoughts than Mel's character.. but this is what makes Jane and his portrayal far more interesting to watch.
For one reason or another, i just seen this comment... I started laughin like hell cause i instantly saw Johnny Cash writin this and actin it out!!! Oh the imagination can take us to many places lol...
"I can hear what you're thinkin' All your doubts and fears And if you look in my eyes in time you'll find, The reason I'm here And in time all things shall pass away In time you may come back someday. To live once more Or die once more But in time your time will be no more"
Eric Monaco I wish they would do another Punisher film but I'm excited for the Netflix series i liked this one a little bit more than I did Punisher: War Zone
Mark Collie is a consummate Hack for sure, a genius, he commiserates the true song writer's spirit, conveys it very well! I only wish, this song was longer, love this song!
Mark Collie actually portrayed Johnny Cash in a TV short called "I Still Miss Someone". It is up here on youtube if you search for it. He does look the part.
Such an iconic film and scene, thats extremely underrated. With an amazing Cast, Storyline, Soundtrack, and messages I still have no clue why this gets so much hate, but all I know this is extremely under-rated and deserves so much more credit. An intense and comedic film, thats really worth watching. Legendary! ""Si vis pacem, para bellum - If you want peace, prepare for war."
this one of the best scenes in the movie. he reminds like a mixture of el mariachi and johnny cash. war zone has fierce action-scenes but it doesn´t have memorable moments like this. nice song by the way...
I first watched this a couple of weeks ago and can safely say that this scene was the best, as 1) I'm a muso, and 2) I'm a Johnny Cash fan, and 3) I had the "holy ghost shit" look on my face as Mark aka. Harry just nails the Cash look. Not just that, but this song sounds like it could have come from Johnny's pen.
this song is perfect for the movie ( it was made for it, i know, but still... ) with those lyrics mark collie says everything i was just surprised that frank hadn't realised what was coming next
I think this scene is kinda classic; I mean a guy comes into a practically empty diner & starts playing a song to a lone customer; the guys at the counter are like "What the-?….. that was weird!"; I actually really like the song, even considering it's the prelude to the assassination attempt next scene
this film is an under rated gem. way better than your standard action shlock should be. it has it all, great action sequences, interesting characters, comedic timing, excellent editing.
Probably one of the best songs used for a movie that I've seen because the song(although short) is very dark just like the Punisher. one of my all time favorite movie songs ^_^
when he said " im gonna sing it at your funnerel" the expression on his face was jus like " well that just gives me more ofa reasson to live now dont it? muhahha" HAH
Mark Collie's a pretty good actor. He can take these little villain parts and make them entertaining; I liked what he did with that little role in "Fire Down Below" (silly movie, but fun hillbilly villains :P), and he was memorable here. Nice clip. :-)
Wow, this is a great song, and such a great part of the movie. I am sorry to detract anything from Stevenson fans, but this man right here is the REAL Punisher.
I'd be scared shitless if someone just came out of nowhere like that and sang that song to me with that same exact tone of voice and gesture... tellin me they wrote it for me and they'll sing it at my funeral? haha...
You know your days are numbered, Count them one by one, Like notches in the handle of an outlaw's gun. You can outrun the devil, if you try, But you'll never outrun the hands of time.
@silentsmokeNIN The name of the movie you're referring to is "I Still Miss Someone"(he also co-wrote the screenplay with the film's director John Lloyd Miller),which captures a moment in time during Cash's darkest years of the mid 1960s. Then again this is according to wikipedia,so take the aforementioned information for what it's worth.
I love this movie it's sad but heroic and eventhough the punisher is a punisher and not a hero he still did the right thing and it was for his FAMILY his BEUTIFUL BEUTIFUL FAMILY 😢😢😇😇😢
it will take a while, but people will realize how great this movie was. This was one of the best scenes in the movie
This comment is 13 years old. RUclips is a time capsule.
One of the greatest movies of all time for sure
I thought it was great when it came out. Now, it's iconic.
I watched this movie when I was so young. I always loved this version so much more than the T.V series
I loved it when I was a kid, as an adult and a filmmaker myself, this movie is GOAT! THE GOAT!
20 years later and it's still better than anything Marvel has released since 2004
I loved Mark Collie's character and was real sad he died so quickly. He was like Johnny Cash as a hit man.
And a DnD Dirgesinger!
Yeah, this was my favorite part of the movie
He got it worse in the welcome back frank comic
Hitmen always have swag.
He got robbed for time but got a more memorable screen time than Travolta.
This song is still living in my head rent free even to this day
That's theft. I pay it rent to stay in my head
This movie is 99 percent gold and great haters hate though
Triple A Or maybe you're a trolling dick. And the movie is actually pretty good.
@NovaPrime Productions The movie is great but the series is better. Also in the original comics Frank Castle is a US Marine, not an FBI Agent, so actually the series got it right. I just think Jon B is better for the role
@@nsg1224 But the series doesn’t have Harry Heck

Wow!
A little over-thought
That song is still one of the most hauntingly beautiful things I've ever heard, and makes this the second-best scene in the whole movie.
what´s the first one to you?
@@GritzMentality Everything that happened after the "Not Vengeance Punishment" monologue. So the whole 3rd act of the movie
Still my favorite scene in the movie.. both actors absolutely crushed that scene...
It's as if Johnny Cash gave up music and became a villain
For one reason or another, i just seen this comment... I started laughin like hell cause i instantly saw Johnny Cash writin this and actin it out!!! Oh the imagination can take us to many places lol...
Who is he ?
Its not a johnny cash song
I can dig it.
I’ve always thought the same thing!
This movie has flaws, sure.
But it's underrated as hell
Loved how they played this song in the movie
"I can hear what you're thinkin'
All your doubts and fears
And if you look in my eyes in time you'll find,
The reason I'm here
And in time all things shall pass away
In time you may come back someday.
To live once more
Or die once more
But in time your time will be no more"
❤ Awesome song.
This is my favorite Mark Collie song and the best scene from the movie.
This scene was so damn great. So intense. Love the movie. Thomas Jane was *perfect* in his role, I think.
Such an underrated song.
Very underrated movie
Well the punisher is an underrated Superhero
Eric Monaco I wish they would do another Punisher film but I'm excited for the Netflix series i liked this one a little bit more than I did Punisher: War Zone
The Punisher is an anti-hero, not a superhero.
Mark Collie is a consummate Hack for sure, a genius, he commiserates the true song writer's spirit, conveys it very well! I only wish, this song was longer, love this song!
best part of the movie
I want this sung at my funeral
this guy played his role like a badass ASWM!!
Thomas Jane as Punisher or Mark Collie as Harry Heck
+Eric Monaco (The Unstable Fan) BOTH
I like how the whole time Frank Castle has a look in his eye, like he's suspecting no-nonsense from the get-go.
Harry Heck should get his own movie
I agree. The fact that he dies only a few minutes later was a waste of character
We need a prequel 😂
Late to this I know, I have thought of an idea. Not sure if marvel or Mark would agree
The killer song Bird... or something like that.
This movie is a masterpiece.

I love guitar solos like that that song is awesome
He should have left after the song, would have been more creepy/cool.
Thats what i was thinking
+Owen Ent there should be made a full song out of this... someone hsould do it
+Shadow Heart
I think they have a full version of this song on iTunes.
+billythekid21able They have a full version on RUclips. it's not as good.
@@becausereasons9777 not good? Wtf are you smoking? It's great, but this acoustic version has a dark and gritty tone behind it.
imo the best Marvel Film
this is the best movie based on a comic book ever, no compitition
best soundtrack in movie history too
2024 and still is the best punisher

I'm 24, and still couldnt find a better movie Scene than this!!!
I love that song in this scene and in the trailer.
This is my favorite song/scene in this movie :)
This is the theme that plays on The Punisher DVD when the main menu starts up. I love this movie, it rocks!
This is why "The Punisher" is one of my favorite movies of all time.
@crazzydrummer66 "you know your days are numbered, count them one by one...like the notches in the handle of an outlaw's gun"
