INGREDIENTS:
Green gram -1 cup, roasted and split
Water-1 Cup
Steamed All Purpose Flour -2 cup
Rice flour -1 cup
Salt - pinch
Low fat oil, as required
Coconut -1/2 cup, freshly scraped
Jaggery - 200 Grams
Cardamom Powder- 1 Tsp

Why is this recipe the Jaffna way? This recipe was not even invented there. Tamils from other regions in Sri Lanka mostly make mothagam this way as well, so what makes you say 'idu Yaalpaanam murai'.
Piramila yes ,Place of origin:India, Region or state:Maharashtra-India, Japan, I am well aware of that , even though it origin was india we sri lankan were neighbors of india loved this recipe & wanted to try it out & down the road we started to make it our own way in terms of recipes , when it comes to cooking everyone has there way of making certain recipes , Different region makes it different ways , In jaffna this is how we make it & since my parents are from jaffna this is the way i learned so for me this is how we make it in jaffna,. I don't know about other region or state how they make it.

I disagree, because people like you make this distinction, people feel divided in Sri Lanka. In fact, if this method was only done in the region you mentioned, I'll totally agree but this is not the case. Tamils in Sri Lanka don't merely live in Jaffna, like some people think. Try to find facts on certain information first, in this case this food item, before you give information about it in public.
