About Love and London:
I'm Jess, I've lived in London for many years, and this channel is a London travel guide for anyone visiting the city that wants to experience it like you live here. Beyond talking about the usual London attractions, I show you some of the cooler things to do in London, that most travel guides don't mention. Watch my videos and you'll feel like you've got a Londoner friend telling you the best kept secrets in the city.
Mentioned in the video:
Bageriet (Covent Garden)
St. John Bakery (Neal's Yard)
Hackney Gelato (Seven Dials Market)
Cafe de Nata (Soho, Hammersmith, Kensington)
Crumbs and Doilies (Soho)
Cutter and Squidge (Soho)
Naked Dough (Camden Market)
Mamason's Dirty Ice Cream (Camden and Soho)
I was there for my birthday a week ago and I fell in LOVE! I never felt so much at home I never wanted to leave. I recommend tourists to ditch the touristy fancy restaurants and go support local family owned businesses plus the food taste way better.
I'm from Kensington and Chelsea in London originally.
You're absolutely correct.
Baker here! Just wanted to let you know the donut was fried not baked! It's actually the other way around where fried donuts are airy and light and baked donuts tend to be more cakey and dense!
I always pop in crumbs and dollies when I'm in London, reminds me when I use to deliver cakes around England and Wales.
They are the best!
Can you just get a slice of cake?
Just added London to my 2021 trip since my European vacation was cancelled this year! I’m neurotic and research tons before I travel. Your videos are so helpful! Thank you!
Well you've got over 200 videos on this channel to watch for your research, so enjoy ;)
Jess, I love your videos! We’re in London often but not as often as I would like.
Your videos give me a little fill of London that I miss when I’m not there! Thank you! Keep doing it well! ❤️
Oh and Cafe de Nata 🤯😍
Aw thank you so much Nicole
Love that you always bring tupperwares with you, no waste!
Absolutely!
I am going to London for the first time this May and I have binged so many of your videos, but this one may be my favorite! I work at a bakery in the USA and looking at this made me think WOW, I have to try everything... twice!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Erin ❤️❤️

Thanks for watching Dharamveer!!
Hi Jess, that was brilliant, they looked absolutely delicious, I just hope you didn't eat all of those in one day, if you did well done. I hope you walked between them. Great fun. Must go I'm ravenous I have to find something to eat. Looking forward to your next video soon.
The "Naked Dough" appeared on a really cool show on netflix about restaurants in Manchester. If I'm not mistaken the series is: A million pound menu
Ahh no way! That's cool. Haven't watched that show.
such a nice video, omg you made me miss London!!!!
Awww :)
So amazing!
Our favourite one was mamasons - perfect to try philipino dessert

Thanks for watching Laurie!
innit mate. greetings from Vancouver, Canada. 1st time checking out your channel, will be tuning in :)
I'm English but haven't lived there for about 10 years. I'm amazed at whats available nowadays.. Migration has some benefits!
Being an old chef I know doughnuts are deep fried... Living down in the south of Spain we're denied fresh cream. I remember chocolate eclairs, which is a choux bun filled with unsweetened whipped cream and topped with chocolate. If you visit the UK you've one of these... Love the video. It reminds us brits the lovely things on our doorstep...
looks good!😋
Loved the man walking behind you with the kart haha. Taking notes for my next trip to London! Cheers!
Fab!
My favourite ice cream is pistachio gelato from GROM in Piccadilly
Update, we spent far too long at the Soho branch of Cafe Nato - simply amazing find and many thanks, we loved them. They were interested when I told them that it was thanks to your RUclips channel that we found them.
Glad you enjoyed :)
We’re visiting tomorrow and love the idea of some/most of these 👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Beautifully shot. Great work.
Thanks for watching!
Can't wait to come to London next summer I'm gonna have a great time there 🙂
Yes you are! :D
The hot chocolate from Bageriet is really good! At Christmas time they put warming spices in it too 😍
Lovely!!
Thanks, really helpful to see these :)
Thanks for watching!
Everything looked delish! That donut is definitely fried 🥰🥰 adding St. John Bakery to my Itinerary
Fab! If you have the 3-Day London Itinerary it's in Day 2 :)
And the factory bakery is in day 1!
@@loveandlondon i did purchase your itinerary so happy that i don't have to plan out my trip.
Oh. My. God. Beats my usual mint Aero bar any day. Now I know where to go when I come back this year! Great video as always, thanks!
haha! thanks so much!
I haven't had a mint aero in 20 years.
just new in UK and I can't wait to try all of the pastries and desserts!!
Enjoy!
Please don't get the wrong idea here but as a swede I can confidently say we do not pronounce bageriet that way! It's just the Swedish word for bakery. Regardless of how much this mispronounciation made me giggle I really appreciate the video containing both Swedish and Filipino food culture, since I'm half Filipino myself! Maybe I can finally get to try some Filipino flavors when I come visit next week? 🍦💕
Lol well I'm not swedish so!
Love Mamason’s Bilog and their Halo-Halo!
mmmm yummy indeed
We are going in May. I research things to death but forgot about sweets! Thanks for reminding me ... my husband is a sweet-treat addict. Love your videos
HAha well happy I could help! Thanks Terri

Yes! Thanks for watching.
It would be great to see a video on the Top places for Breakfast in London!
I'll add it to the list!
Loved those sweet treats! Could you please make a video on some really good vegetarian or Indian restaurants in London?
Hey! I already have a vegetarian video: ruclips.net/video/yHdk-QDiB3I/видео.html&t and I have a ton of veggie-friendly options plus some great Indian options in the 3-Day London Itinerary: loveandlondon.com/3-day-london-itinerary

Hi Jess thank you so much for your useful videos. Could you make a video about restaurants and bakeries who offer gluten and dairy free food. Love from Egypt ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Amal! I have a video about vegan food spots (including donuts!) for you already: ruclips.net/video/DwAPm2UtLAw/видео.html&t Also in my 3-Day London Itinerary, I've marked off which food spots are GF-friendly and vegan friendly : loveandlondon.com/3-day-london-itinerary
Need to go and taste that ice cream in pandesal by mommason looks so yummy !!!!!! Pilipino desserts are very and truly delicious!!! The ube yum! And halo halo too
Wow Jess thanks! I been living just next to the mamasons for more than a year and half, still didn't try it. Will do it soon thou😊

Donuts are life lol @love and london
I wish you'd do an updated video on bakeries/sweets.
This is still quite relevant! And we have updated recommendations for EVERYTHING in London in our guides: shop.loveandlondon.com/
Jess, it takes me 30 to 40min to finish your videos! Every tip I pause your video, save on TripAdvisor, research walking distance, etc! Your expertise is very appreciated 😁

Thanks for the recommendation. In Mamasons as we speak, eating Bilog.
😋 delicious 🤤...
I'll be staying in Hackney on my next trip so I'll definitely be checking out the gelato, interested to see if it's as good as Ferrara's in NYC.
Enjoy
Thank you for featuring Mamasons. I am a Filipino😊
Ah very cool Mitch!
@@loveandlondon hope I can see you personally while I am here😊

Crosstown Donuts! And Cronuts are way too sweet but DKA’s at the same bakery are awesome.
Yes I love crosstown's vegan ones!
Yum Yum...
That crunch 5:34 love me some pastel de Belém (or pastel de nata)
Mmmm
Crumbs and doilies! I follow cupcake Jemma!
nice!!
Yes ube (purple yam) is delicious! Mamason's Dirty Ice Cream should open a location in San Diego!
:):)
I love Bread Ahead doughnuts at Borough Market
Yeah! They're good too!
Chin Chin Labs is a good place for ice cream, and Peggy Porschen for sweet desserts like cake and cupcakes
Not a fan of Peggy but yes Chin Chin labs!
I'm just wondering if sunlight is ever there in London. For how many months its there?
I liked this video the second that I saw that you brought your own Tupperware. 😅 💛
Hahahah thanks Aileen! Couldn't let all of that goodness go to waste!
What about Greggs and Marks and Spencer sweet treats ? Such as Yum yums and jam doughnuts !
Hmmm they aren't as good as the freshly made things as mentioned in this video. I also try to encourage everyone to visit and support small businesses :)
I'm definitely saving these on my Google Maps just in case I ever get the chance to visit this beautiful city.
Some are a part of the 3-Day London Itinerary, which includes a digital map for your phone: loveandlondon.com/3-day-london-itinerary
Your so cool Jess x
Am coming to London next Thursday with my daughter Jess. She is 18. You want to meet for lunch . Rob
I'll taste the filipino dessert, it seems delicious 😋
It really is :) thanks for watching Bety!
Ice cream in February, you really do like your treats! That must have been some sugar rush, you have to work out to keep that slim eating all that! By the way the Tupperware was to make us think you didn't eat all of the food, we know the truth ;). Love your vids even though I am a local.
Hahah I did actually bring them home and I had some very happy housemates :)
Hello 👋🏻, I have a layover in London in March for 17 hours arriving around 4 and leaving 9 am the next day. I really want to see Big Ben and anything around there. But I am stressing on how to get there. Do you have any advice? I was thinking of taking the Express train but then I don’t know how to get to central London.
Use Google Maps to figure it out
Looking at this in February 2023 and seeing your post is 3 years ago, so regarding March 2020… did you make it to London before lockdown?!
Argh. We’ve seen all the museums and landmarks twice so it looks like our two weeks in London this Spring will be spent on a sugar high. Thank you???
haha you're welcomeeeeeeee
You are definitely a Londoner …..best city in the world
It's pretty damn great
Hey, I am going to Uk Soon, could you drop some hints about the prices ?
Watch my how to budget video for some help: ruclips.net/video/j59AG3hcUGI/видео.html&t
@@loveandlondon Thanks, for sharing with us
lovely vlog. did u actually eat more than two bites on each thing? 😂🤦🏻♀️ would have been nice to see inside each bakery
I didn't, but I brought it all home and ate the leftovers lol! yeah it can be hard to film inside sometimes so we can't always do it but we try!
Filipino here. Don't care much for ube. LOL Love pandesal though.
These types of "donuts" are actually Bolas de Berlim a typical portuguese sweet just like Pastel de Nata
From a different channel and on another video I hear that British bread is really good, better than the bread in the States. Is this true?
Not sure, I never bought fresh bread in the US, I sometimes do here.
I had ube ice cream when I was in the Philippines and it was delicious. I wonder if that shop does halo halo, really recommend it for a hot summer's day.
I think it might but I can't be sure!
Lovely sweety
Oh I felt for you... that was getting very cloying. One yummy treat a day is probably the limit for most people :).
haha yes! Thanks Karl
10:23 Pure savagery! Like a true London dessert-warrior, Jess sports the confectionary blood of her foes as a warning to future treats that they better be good.
Only way to do it, so good.
Thanks for watching!
How about the prices of the items that you bought
Best to ignore prices in London. You’d never eat anything if you worried about the price!
Dam u had me eating that Danish pastry - the crunching sound - def gonna go there this years visit ( I go to london every year as from there ) love your positivity on london .
Nom nom enjoy ;)
Will you pls mind , there are many diabetics watching this , try to balance your reel with some sugar free dlights as well.
Probably not one for our "sweet treats" videos but we recommend tons of non-sweets across our videos!
We diabetics are envious.
I love your stuff Jess but I was hoping that you wouldn't notice Bageriet I love that shop eevn if it is responsible for quite a few inches on my waistline over the years. Al joking asside anyone looking to visit The Smoke should watch Jess she is 100% right IHO and I have lived and or worked in London for over 30 years XXX
haha thanks Sean!!
too bad i dont eat sweet.....but coffeee
What? They don’t have any pie in London?
I didn't cover every single sweet in London! Lol. But pies here are mostly savoury, eaten as lunch or dinner.
You might enjoy A Pie Party weekends. at Victoria Park Market. Try the whiskey pecan or biscoff pie. Now I’m hungry!
hi there jessica
tori is my name
i love desserts
so are you a coffee drinker?
i am.
i hope we can be friends
bye now
Does she not like eating? Lol after one bite she was full? Girl I would be eating everything honey oh lord
I ate like 10 sweets in 4 hours!!
Feed Marco...
I tried... really hard 😂
He did actually get some donuts to take home
Ugh!!! I shouldn't be watching this lol 😋🍰🍩🧁
Hahahahhaha ;)
