"French River Woodworks" You are almost at the tip-over point with 100K subscribers. A complete name change now could cause a loss of views/subscribers. Anyway, good luck with your channel.
I see you sent me a second comment in the notification but can’t read it all and I can’t find your second comment in my comment section anywhere. I don’t understand RUclips sometimes
You have a shop to dream about. Now you asked us to let you know. So here it is kind Sir. I believe your video was too long. Also the pans were too slow. Other than that, it was great video. May Jesus continue you with talents always. Happy New Year also. Thanks for sharing your gifts to us kind Sir..
Happy New Year! I hope to visit your shop this year. For a channel name I like French River Woodworks as it's not too far from your original name. Or something along the lines of Made in the North or Northern Maker as you have shown videos about moose, your pond, etc. Whatever you re brand to, I will keep watching.
Love your shop. I’m only part way through so not sure if you cover it, but what size is it? I have a smaller shop so went for a Felder CF531 Pro to save space but my preference would have been a table saw/shaper and a planer/thicknesser. On that note, I watched your door making video and noticed you using a router table on the raised panels - did you consider a saw/shaper?
Thank You. My shop is 30’ X 40’. Yes I did looked into a shaper but at this time in point, I don’t think I would use it enough with the types of jobs I get.
You have a Happy New Year Gilbert....that was a very complete tour of your shop....Makes me think that maybe I can do one in my garage....that would be a big joke for sure....for the name....I think you can change it to French River Woodwork and later on when you retire. you just change it again....well done...Just by the way....did you get a truck with the same emblem to match your hat....CHEERS
Thanks Gator. You have a happy new year as well. Y’a a shop tour would be interesting. Lol. I did put a deposit on the Tesla truck but it will be years before I get it. There only starting production at end of 2022 and there is 1.2 million deposit before me. My wife did buy the Tesla model Y and she will have it in April some time. Very excited 😊
French River Springs - Perfect as it is. It has some class. It's connected to the "earth" and where you are geographically, not to mention a beautiful area. Only you know it was the water business. Maybe you want to forget about it, but nobody else has that feeling. I knew you had the water business but always think of the name as a "place" not the water business. If you name the channel Something Woodworks, the name doesn't fit again if your content changes as you evolve into retirement. Always like your vids. I prefer less frequent youtube vids by people who do interesting things first, and making tubes is incidental, rather than pushing out tubes every week and watching the stats to decide what to do next. You doing you is most interesting for me.
Thank You very much for your input. I’m glad that you enjoy watching my videos. I’ll think about it if I want to change the name. If I do, it will be French River Woodworks. It’s also the name of my business. I’m just wondering if the word woodworks would help the algorithm for more people to see my woodworking videos?
Which magnet did you use to hold your chisel ? they seem very strong. How much wood did you leave between the magnet and the top of the wood ? Name: French River Woodworks
I use 3 neodymium magnet piled up on top of each other. 2 sets of magnets per chisel. So 6 magnets to hold one chisel. Magnets are 1/2 inch diameter by 1/8 inch thick. 1/16 inch between magnets and top of wood.
I enjoyed the shop tour. I am jealous of the space you have (mine is confined to a smallish garage) and especially the sliding table saw. I would either keep continuity with your old name, calling it "French River Woodworking" (as one of the other commenters suggested), your name "Gilbert Roy's Carpentry," something about the area you are in ("The Canook Carpenter"or the name of your city).
First, thanks for sharing all of this, really enjoyed it. Super jealous of the size of your shop. Your shop screams quality and it's interesting the journey life has taken you on. I'm glad to see you're in a good place and content. Enjoy your videos and presentation, keep em coming. Thank you Sir!!
Wow! Great workshop! It gives me lots of ideas to better organize mine! As for the Drum Sander, I would add an extension on the left to allow maximum stability.
Thanks for your time and video telling about your careers. I was in printing for 50 years and woodworking for the last 10; furniture, custom boxes all using machines I purchased new. I hand brush the finishes with no spray equipment. Seeing your later spray equipment gives me some future ideas. The pandemic reduced my work dramatically. Living in Chicago burbs and going to WI allows me to buy a nice selection of mill wood. I have the Felder boring machine for my mortise and tenon work. Felder pretty much told me they did not want to sell me the Hammer line.? I have most machines with 3 phase digital power. I purchased a smaller membrane press and find it expensive but versatile. Good luck
I cannot offer a name, but post a video here to let us know the name change so we can follow you. Folks THIS is how you make a shop tour video. Nice and slow and up close to see everything. Of course it helps if you have a big nicely organized shop like this. No one wants a close up of a closet dump. Saw and workstation - wow.
Happy new year Gilbert !! I wish you the very best, good luck and a flawless health !! Also thank you for making this shop tour its always nice to clearly see your work environment with all the details and stuff !!
AWESOME space, so jealous. I work out of a 9.5' x 19' garage. Im glad I found your channel. Looking forward to more content. By the way, nothing wrong with the name.
Nice professional set up Gilbert extremely clean shop. Great choice your ten foot slider, awesome machines especially in your line of work. Slick move subcontracting out your edge banding. Impressive commissions at the end, also checked out your back catalogue, awesome French River Woodcraft, Wood Design hint hint. Myself I work as you do, if and when I want to. Enjoyed. Tony
I love your channel. It was one of the big reasons why I purchased a Felder Table Saw as well as Jointer and Planer. It would be great to connect and share notes.
I can only dream of a 4 grand finish sprayer. Beautiful shop.
Thank you 😊
Saying it's finally setup the way you want, is a guaranteed way to end up rearranging it soon..lol.
🤣
I do agree with a lot of the others here

Great shop bud. My first thought would be French River Mill Works.
Awesome shop! I'll be over in a few weeks to build my canoe 😂.
Are you running single phase for power?
Yes. Single phase
I’m not sure if you said or not
What size is your shop to fit a 10’ slider
What an awesome saw!!
30x40 sorry I read that in the comments
With your great French accent, how can you not call it French River Woodworks? Taber something, lol.
Very nice tour of your shop and your equipment. For the name, I would choose French River Woodwork
Thank You
