This is so interesting to me because we Turo’d 2 cars maybe 5+ years ago and quit for the same exact reasons. I feel like these are the reasons everyone always talks about why it’s not worth trying, but I get the impulse to try anyway because I have the same impulse.
Why do we do this to ourselves. 😂

Hey Dani! Yeah, unfortunately these are somethings that many people can expect to experience when doing Turo. I had to give it a shot regardless though. Hahaha I know it. I think we have something in common!

Establish set hours for pickup and return, example 8am-6pm m-f like car rental places do.
Have a repair shop for regular maintenance and repairs.
Hire someone to wash and vacuum car and clean smoke out.
It's more expenses for you, but it is all deductible. If you can't make any profit after that, then ur right, it's not worth it.

They need reviews of the customers so u can only rent to respectful customers.

Thanks. Been thinking about putting my car up on Turo and all I could think of was exactly everything you listed. I'm glad I listened to my gut. And thank you for sharing!

I rented through Turo several times and none of them met me. They all had different ways for me to get the key without them having to be there. One left the key on a tire, one somehow wireless unlocked the door, and another one had a lock box on the trunk. Had you thought about trying that something like that so you wouldn’t have to physically meet them?

Hi! Yes, I did try out the lockbox method for a few rentals. It had its pros and cons. A few times people would just leave the key in the car and take off after the rental was over. They wouldn’t lock the key back up using the lockbox. Meeting people wasn’t that bad because I would get to meet them before they would take my car. I would just worry whenever we would meet up really late at night.
