So they have been using AI for 20+ years to do god knows what. But once it gets leaked out to the public you now have to show them how your AI works. They should share their results first of all the AI they are using and the test results.
One thing that interests, amuses and worries me is that job hunters are using AI (mostly as ChapGPT) to write resumes and cover letters, 3rd party recruiters at headhunt firms use AI to filter resumes and match job descriptions, and HR departments are using AI in their ATS to eliminate everyone. I can imagine a candidate sitting back letting AI do all the work, no one in the middle doing anything, and managers, executives and startup founders never looking at anything because they have AI summarizing info and selecting candidates. Pure robotics for hiring! There's a cartoon where a person in a cubicle explains to a co-worker how they use ChatGPT to write an email given some reports and main points to make, and next panel a manager explains to a colleague how he uses ChatGPT to give him a summary of the main points. No one looking at the email itself! Probably is happening in real life these days. I can see that happening with resumes and hiring. No human intervention, and probably endless news about labor shortages and job shortages.
It’s funny too because ChatGTP makes some mistakes sometimes. It’s not a perfect AI and has some holes in its intelligence. I worry about people using it for work for this very reason.
If you wernt already padding your resume with key phrases to get past filters , you were doing it wrong anyway.

That's not how EOs are supposed to be done. They're only supposed to be used under an emergency where getting Congress together is impossible. The president doesn't have to authority to execute anything without nation emergency.
Presidents have always used executive orders for a range of legal reasons that aren’t related to national emergencies. For example, Trump signed an executive order to revise the seal for the National Credit Union Administration and expanding apprenticeships in America. He signed 220 executive orders during his term as President.
Executive orders can not create law.
executive orders are standard powers granted to the president in the same way Congress has the power to pass laws. they're part of the checks and balances

How do they define AI because nothing we currently have really qualifies. It works be easy for any developer to ignore this executive order since their product isn't truly an AI.

Few people seem to know that EOs expire with term unless Congress actually passes legislation in support.
Actually not. They don’t expire unless an expiration date is part of the order, congress cancels them with a law, or the sitting president cancels them. Or SCOTUS rules them unconstitutional.
That's of course true. It also doesn't mean and EO can't be damaging or even unconstitutional until the SC can rule on it (if it's tasked with ruling on it).
If the executive order has an expiration date, otherwise it'll remain in effect until canceled/revoked by either the current president or a future one.

AI has the potential to replace government. That's a problem for, well...the government. With things like mandatory sentences, the criminal justice system would be the first to go.
