Removing an E36 Rear Subframe is actually not that bad!

  • Today we are going to remove the rear subframe on the Dubya! I wanted to pull the entire subframe so I can get the body prepped for reinforcements. Removing the subframe will also allow me to replace the subframe and differential bushings. The removal was pretty straight forward, but the driveshaft did give me a little trouble. I would suggest unbolting the carrier bearing mount before lowering the Subframe. I'll put time stamps below if you want to jump around.

Our videos are for entertainment purposes and if you came for expert automotive advice, I am sorry 😅 because I am definitely not an expert. These videos are about our lives and our current Daily Drifter Builds.
We like to show the struggles that most channels try to make look easier than they are. We build our cars inside my garage with the limited tools we have available. I hope you still find my failures entertaining and have a great day!

As much as I love BMWs, there's so much preventative maintenance for reliability lolol. Glad to see your build coming along (:
But then again, I keep on forgetting how old these cars are 😅

I'm rebuilding a neglected 740iL in my garage and I don't trust jackstands, so I built cribbing that goes under the tires and for under the car that gives me wheels up with no worries. Works for 747s in the boneyard so why not a 22 year old e38? Used wooden 2x4s and 4x4s from the Home Depot.
Much safer when you are by yourself and solid as a rock.

Word of advice... Don’t work on your car by yourself. Something bad could happen, you could need urgent help. Get some homies.

Yeah I really need to find some car bros to help me out from time to time. It’s not fun working on some of this stuff alone 😅
