- The renovation of Temple Square in Salt Lake City is now in its 20th month. The video and photos below give a glimpse of the past three months of work in this years-long project. This includes the reinforcement of the Salt Lake Temple roof, the continued renovation of the Church Office Building Plaza to the east and additional excavation on the north side of the temple.

My parents were converts. I stopped going when I was in my twenties. I was looking for more. I came back in my 40s after wondering foolishly for all those years. The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints is Christ’s church here on the earth. There is no other place or organization where a person can find complete peace and joy. Thank you Jesus for the gift of repentance! Thank you to all those working on this renovation! May God bless you and your posterity for your great work! We love all of you!!!
Glad to see that you made it back. I've met members who left at all early age but came back on their 40s as well. I joined at an advanced age so it will take me time to learn all the details of not only the LDS but of Christianity itself I came froma different background

This is spectacular. It looks so weird being under so much construction, but the work dedicated toward it is inspiring. Well done, everyone!
Yes. So happy that it's going well

Yes, Jesus was always impressed by temples.
@Jose Luna tel us all then since you;'re so well informed, what religion does this temple belong to?
@HomesliceDrummer He won't. He'l spend his whoile earthly life criticizing our LDS
@Jose Luna So when did you leave the church?
@Jose Luna What did you study in Salt Lake? Mickey Mouse coluring books?
This is the Temple Solomon built. They did not built it in the 1800s with horse & buggy. They are excavating it.
So do those cables run from the steel beams/colums on one side of the temple into similar steel beams/colums on the other side of the temple? That is the only way how I can see that these steel tensioned cables could help hold the dirt together underneath the Temple.
You should do more of these updates!!! Like at least every 3 months (:
what should be done inthe next three months then, another soft drink machine?
So, have the mechanical suspension plates and bearings been installed yet? If so, they have really completed a lot of work on this project.
I am interested in how they add the support down the granite walls to the foundation to support the new steel trusses and utility equipment being added on the roof. please share how that is done.

I wonder if they’re renovating the 2nd anointing room.
My guess would be yes. Pretty sure every other room/area is being redone to some extent, being as that, after the celestial room, is the holiest room in the temple I would imagine it will be refurbished too.

This is an engineering tribute linking generations of Saints to each other and our Lord. What a wonderful, practical offering to Him whose house it is. I’m sure He is pleased with the efforts that frankly seem amazingly carried out in this construction effort. And how exciting to see the knowledge and practice that will be used in a grander scale in constructing the temple of New Jerusalem hopefully in the near future. My heart fills with gratitude for all who are involved in this sacred restoration. Thank you for your efforts!

Impressively beautiful. Jesus would have built a homeless shelter instead.
God commands us to care for our neighbors, but He also commanded Solomon to build a temple of precious materials. Centuries later, Jesus cleansed God's temple from being defiled. It seems there is room for having both charity and sacred places to worship.
Yeah, as if we constructed such a feat 128 years ago, all with horse & buggy and no level. Great job covering up our origins.
Also, looks like they are 2-3 stories in and still haven't discovered actual foundation of the structure, give me a break.
This "renovation" alone will probably take a lifetime for our people, and yet the world has historical buildings all over just like this..

‘Renovation.’ Right. Because that’s what you call the destruction and demolition and gutting of irreplaceable art and history.
The building is not an artifact, it is a working facility intended to stand for a thousand years. Roof replacement, foundation stabilization and grounds repair are normal upkeep for any structure. No art has been lost and history is being made.
Ah it's nice to hear from the chief architect on this. Thanks Jenn!
@RamborServices Actually they DID get rid of the murals in the old instruction rooms. There will now be 5 single-stage ordinance rooms with the audio-visual presentation instead - 4 on the first floor and 1 on the second floor. They said they were peeling away from the walls or otherwise not salvageable in the refurbishment. Portions of them will be displayed in the new visitor's centers. I really wish they had kept them; it made that temple stand out even more than it already does.
