Morphing Monasteries: Commercial Buddhism in Thailand

here in the west is opposite. we don't have enough monks or temples. As a new Buddhist living in texas, It's hard to make meet with the sangha.
lionwarrior7819 i wanted to become a buddhist monk .
Buddhism is on the rise in our nation.... just give it time my friend
I admit that there are bad monks in Buddha dhamma which gives bad names but Buddha dhamma sasana will never die in Thailand...No matter how western medias and wesiern religiion portrays the dhamma,Thailand is the Buddhist country and it will always remain as a Buddhist country.Dhamma is way of many thai's life.I suggest westerners to take a look at their own religion first before you judge others.
You know, the same thing can be said about Christianity. Its on the decline among the younger generation in America.
People who don't know and practice pristine dhamma don't know its value and end up leaving buddhism altogether.
I want to ordain as a monk in the future when i have enough money to travel
Most elderly are still going to temples today. Also, when it is holiday, we still go to the temple, perhaps not teenagers, but older adults do. The monks do realize that we now have advanced technology - they tell us that we can pray at home and as long as we are honest and no wrong-doings.
It is another example of when there is a demand, there is a supply arisen to satisfy it. If the "customers" do not care about product quality, then they don't know what they have missed.
This is Kaliyuga, Dharma will decline. People will pretend to be religious but that would be just pretension.
One should understand the real teachings of Lord Buddha .....it gives answers to all these questions in life and changes which will come in future.....its given in Buddha's teachings.....
I'm always going to be Thailand on my what
I wish I could have a passport and see you I am watching you from tv RUclips
In the US spiritual practices are on the raise .
The monks possess an awakening power of the soul spirit. Can control the Tiger's spirit.
phil phil Buddhism doesn't believe in spirit or souls (attman) but I respect your beliefs and views.
Buddhas thoughts are immortal
A make me happy
In Thailand, in small poor villages, temples are the richest houses.
konmekable temples shouldn't even be decorated, many bikkhus now days don't understand the dhamma, they added many illogical and cultural traditions and rituals into buddhas teachings, Buddhism is like any other religion now days, mainly because the monks either lack understanding of the teachings or they understand the teachings but continue to let people indulge in practices such as invoking spirits or belief in gods or the belief of soul, all these things the Buddha saw a irrelevant to the human condition and illogical, a bikkuh only needs three things, determination, a robe and an alms bowl, these temples create attachment and only deepen the dukkah in this world, and this keeping us in samsara.
@@kuan9950 that's true if you're not talking about tibetan buddhism tbh
Perhaps, but monks themselves own only their robes, begging bowls, and few personal items.
❤❤❤❤😁 CAROLENA. I. LOVE. YOU I will always respect you and Arnie you as my grandparents as a monk and there's a Temple of people ug granddaughter English-speaking
sign of the times: ppl lost his spirit for money, and now the spirit is following the money path. If this is not the end of the world I don't know what it is.
This is true. This is why I worry about the young who are forced to join the monk hood. Please stop this bribery and corruption in religion. It’s sinful.
It doesn't sound to me like anyone is being forced to join the monkhood. What do you base your comment on?
Tsk... Theravada Buddhism is starting to be corrupted. But there's hope. When the younger generation reaches old age, they will turn back to Buddhism, the time they become worried about their next rebirth as they approach death.
sadhu sadhu sahu❤❤❤
So nice biddhism in thai. Plz donot give them meat, egg, alcohol and ciggarettes. Pureveg monks are best in real buddhism.this coment is from the land of buddha Neoal south asia.
Buddhism is in dying process.
whichever religion born in this kaliyuga, they will disappeared at the end of the kaliyug. only the eternal tradition will continue forever.
