Okay joking about backblast was something I didn't even consider when looking at those weapons. and I absolutely love the scream the Primaris Marine made.
Just looked up how this weapon works, and hilariously the reason they don't have to worry about back blasts is because Cawl literally somehow reinvented the concept of a Bolter just to make these fucking things.

@@kenshinasakura3788 uuuh hang on… on the subject of Draigo who is the Grey Knights chapter master and yet eternally trapped in the warp… how did he manage to design the dread knight and then give the blueprints for it to the Grey Knights? If this was the case they’d have to do some serious diplomacy to the cog boys that “no it’s not a new invention created from outside of the priesthood of Mars oversight, it’s a STC pattern we discovered!” … the more I think of the Grey Knights and how uber covert they supposedly are the less it makes sense.

Theoretically, this design can work if the rockets are two-stage and are first launched using traditional propellant out of the launcher, then the rocket boosters fire mid-flight.

It's exhausting seeing Space Marines just swallow the game whole. Now that there's no longer a lore reason for them not to have new weapons and equipment (as opposed to being equipped with powerful but unchanging relics of the past), they can take the niche of the Tau, Imperial Guard, Eldar... and now Orks, I guess, if we're just crudely welding two weapons together for a bigga' boom.

I liked it, it makes sense to SM to use this type of weapon, they are in Power armor, why should they worry about splash zones?
I mean it’s essentially just a super heavy combi-weapon. The anti tank version of the combi-bolter/flamer.

I dont think back blast would affect them at all if anything they could set them off in close combat to smass horde armies
Or they don't make back blasts because the projectiles were first launched with 'conventional' charges or magnetic rails, and ignite mid-air
