Attended a so called ‘sales event’ at Sytner BMW with the proposal of part exchanging my 2022 fully loaded BMW X3 M40d and 2023 BMW M135i against a £100k BMW X5 50e. Both mine and my wife’s cars are very low mileage, fully specced cars with every factory options with the M135i a dealer fitted M-Performance bodykit and 55M wheels. Both cars have 5 year transferable service packs too. The part exchange values given were insulting with the dealer offering £39k for the X3 which has a current forecourt price of £52k. The M135i has a forecourt price of approximately £35k and I was offered £28k. Given the potential dealer profit £20k on the sale of both cars, along with profit off the £100k car, finance commission and other sales GAP, servicing etc the dealer could be looking at £30k+ profit!!😤 As the customer what incentive is there for me?? As such I walked away and because of their greed they have lost a sale and a repeat customer! Is it any wonder private car sales are on their knees???
Doing it yourself is the way forward. Lease new cars or use a buying & selling service like Carwow - main dealer greed will see the back of them one day.
09:21 - £43k for a 308! That’s absolutely bonkers. I have no idea why Stellantis as a group put these and many other brand models out there at these fantasy prices, no one is going to pay anywhere near that, or even at those used prices!
Tried Car wow to test the water on selling my own . Decided to keep but they were very competitive and professional . Will use when a great lease deal I want comes up
You're going to upset the extreme sides of the BEV debate by showing that lots of cars, regardless of propulsion type are requiring discounts to sell at the moment. Well done.
Wait, wait, wait... I thought it was only BEVS that had to have massive discounts to prop up the sales? Didn't know they had to discount ICE cars to help with sales? Have I been lied too by the press? 😉
Cheers Jim crazy discounts just fuel the deprecation who wants to buy second hand knowing they had to give it a 30 grand haircut to sell it in the first place means the will be worth even less all the way through,as well as pissing off people who didn't get such a good deal 😢😢
Considering the poor reliability and atrocious after sales service from MG, I would steer well clear. A local garage to me ditched their franchise because they couldn't get them to authorise warranty work. Much better cars out there.
Not read all the comments so this may have already been said. The discounted prices are realistically where the rrp should be, no one is paying list for these joke new prices these days. Then they still need further discount and amazing finance offers to shift them.
I was under the assumption that the luxury car tax doesn’t start until April! So if I buy a car before April I will not have to pay the luxury car tax?
Hi One or two of the last cars in your list Jim not only suffer the 40k tax but the new Road Fund Tax levy bybthe Chancellor will make ones accountant blanch ! Cheers for a great video. AndyB
Hi Jim thanks another informative video, I’ve been holding off buying a car do you think new and used prices will continue to fall as we get further into the year?
Hey Jim! Whats your thoughts when a lease and a PCP finance are equally stacked up? Which would you take? Thinking about a brand new X1 and the monthlys are the same but not sure which is the better option
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen (I assume the upfront payment is different?). Whichever floats your boat I guess - remember, shop for the best car for your budget if you can rather than focusing on a particular model - this is how you get the very best value deals 👍
I was actually looking at the Mazda MX30 new but then decided upon a Mercedes EQC at just a little more. Better range, better comfort and still has years of warranty left on the battery.
Good evening Jim, I'm currently buying an RS3, what amount of discount (if any) would you be looking at if you were paying cash? Thanks in advance 👍 great channel 🍻
You’d have to have a look at CarWow mate (please use my link) - on there you can specify cash deals I believe. There have been some great discounts on Audi lately but I’m not sure about the RS3 and cash 👍
The 8 series is great but rather overpriced (I bought an 840d 6 months old in 2019 and got £20 grand off the actual RRP with the extras, got lucky and sold it during Covid) 👍
Hi Jim, thanks for the latest deals video. Some really good deals, although not seen a car I fancy (apart from the ones that are out of my price bracket!)

Cars are now too expensive £20k for something 5 years old that would have been £10k or less before 2020
👌
Whilst a discount on any new car is great, almost pointless if the list price is over £40k and you are paying circa £600 a year for 5 years ownership
🤔 not really; if it’s discounted by >£3k you’re still quids in. Better off with a lease in any case.
MG5 owner here - nearly 4 years later the car has been faultless.
👍👍
I totally agree on what you said about leasing brand new cars and only buying second hand ones
👍
That Golf estate, a bloody bargain 😊
It is
See even ICE cars are being discounted mega - Golf estate down from £31K to £21K that's 30% off!
Yep

Nope - it’s cars. Cars are not selling like they were. The press all seem to report a version of the news these days.
@@DefinitelyNotAGurui think news articles have always been misleading
I think Rachels road tax is killing the market.
More of the discounted I Paces on Autotrader. Thanks again Jim for pointing this out in October. I am enjoying the one I bought.😊
Right on 👍
Always interesting videos ! Thank you for sharing !
Glad you like them!
These "discounted" prices are what the RRP prices should be. Then you start discounting from there...
But they’re not the RRP…hence the video…
@DefinitelyNotAGuru but as I say, they should be. The RRP prices of new cars are mental, especially the German makes.

The MG5 is a real shame.... £20k or go for an Astra Estate at £45,000..... Do you really need to think about it?
Exactly
Wondering what will be it worth when i have to sell it in 3 years?
Considering the poor reliability and atrocious after sales service from MG, I would steer well clear. A local garage to me ditched their franchise because they couldn't get them to authorise warranty work. Much better cars out there.
How many people will be gutted purchasing the old tessie Y when the beautiful new one is available to purchase right now 😂😂😂 Cheers
Lease new / buy used - simple
Some great bargains there jim

It’s now. April is when it comes onto EVs.
