    I love that the movie ends with Shaggy saying he’ll be ok while still acknowledging that he’s going to need some time to get over his broken heart. Shaggy getting to feel his emotions without being laughed at sets a good example for kids and you don’t see things like that often enough.

      Considering how MI played with canon, I wouldn't be surprised if they were introduced in an aliens-centric episode, were teased to be the real aliens, and then it turns out they were just completely normal people who are never seen again (or, at best, are beamed into the mothership in the last 10 seconds of the episode when nobody else is looking)

      But Daphne is way more understanding of caredy cat Shaggy/Scooby after Zombie Island. Seems like she's cutting them some slack

    I’ve always adored the “Groovy” musical sequence, probably my favorite piece of animation in the whole series. Mook Animation really did a fantastic job with these films, especially the first three. It’s sad that this was the last piece of Scooby media to be done with traditional cels as I don’t think the series has ever looked quite as good since then.
    edit: After doing some research it seems the animator responsible was Koji Nanke, although this is just a presumption. He specialized in opening and ending theme animation and is remembered for his work on classic anime series like Gatchaman, Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura. Yatsura in particular is interesting because that’s a show about a normal dorky guy dating a cute alien. Sound familiar? Maybe that’s what drew Nanke to Alien Invaders.

    This is actually perhaps my favorite. I enjoyed both Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost for the 'monsters and magic are real' elements (I love both scenarios where 'monsters are fake' and 'monsters are real' in the saga) but there is just something pure and wholesome for having Crystal and Amber being the 'real monsters' yet never being evil or wicked.

      @tommyl.dayandtherunaways820 5 месяцев назад +1

      It was a smart subversion of the new formula. Three consecutive movies with evil monsters would’ve caused the novelty of the movies to start to wear off, so they flipped it around and had the monsters be the good guys (and the love interests to the two characters who are most terrified of monsters, which allowed them to undergo character development and learn to overcome their fear). Genius writing right there.

The very beginning of the movie gave me such creepy vibes and feels as an introduction to the movie. I truly felt like the gang was in mortal danger like on the level of Mystery Incorporated. To top it off the camp stories in the special features use to really creep me out LOL. I just adore the setting of the two camps themselves and the designs and ideas behind all the camp legend monsters.
      Not to mention all the action and suspenseful scenes are such a treat to watch. When they were in the boat and crashed into the cafeteria of the bigger camp, when they were in the canyon with the hitchhiker ghost, when Scooby was driving the van as the dam exploded and burst, when they were actually in the abandoned city when all the water was gone and the woods man was there- like holy shit the setting and atmosphere were so amazingly crafted. Not to mention I personally thought the pacing of the film was great where it felt decently long.
      I could go on but I really don't see enough other people talk about Camp Scare so much specifically as I'd wish lmao it makes me wish we'd get more Scooby movies with similar vibes and feel to it so much.

    I don’t care if she was an alien lol shaggy & crystal were absolute fucking perfection. Like most times whenever a long running franchise makes a new character for the specific reason to be a love interest usually aren’t the best characters, but crystal was great. If she would have just been a human, her & shaggy would have been end goals. Was genuinely so happy for shaggy the first time I saw this movie. He clearly liked her but she liked him back as well, they did our boy shaggy dirty

    • @CJ-442
      @CJ-442 2 года назад

      Yeah, but the Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy movies are their own thing. Monsters being real are just accepted as fact in those. There’s rarely a time when a character will stop and think “Monsters aren’t real. That’s just someone in a costume.” These 4 movies operated off of classic “Scooby Doo, Where are You?” logic where monsters were supposed to be guys in masks.
      Also, there’s a theory that all the “monsters” and “ghosts” in the Scrappy movies are just guys in masks as well. They’re just portrayed as being real since Velma, Fred, and Daphne (the rational characters) aren’t there, and we’re seeing the movie from the perspective of Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy, who instantly believe that all monsters are real (Shaggy and Scooby bc they’re cowards, and Scrappy bc he’s young and naive).

    This film was always my 2nd favourite after Zombie Island as a kid, revisiting it hasn’t replaced it and it has a lot to do with how Witch’s Ghost ends on a dance party.
    As for monsters being in the gang’s side this was actually first done on Zombie Island where the titular zombies were trying to warn and protect the heroes the whole time.
    Great vid!

    I always identified a lot with Shaggy when I was a boy (shaggy haired, goofy, always hungry, loved my dog, easily frightened) and his sweet, pure relationship with a space-alien hippie may have set my expectations for future romance too high.
    I DID briefly date a space-alien hippie but I fumbled that pretty hard.

    It would be cool if they went to Crystal and Amber's home planet someday! It would be strange for a Scooby Doo film, but then again the Kiss crossover movie exists. I too would like to see these two again and am curious about where they're from! Trying to solve a mystery on an unfamiliar planet would be a challenge. They could do some really creative stuff with it.
