Dude still has the most epic moment in modern baseball history. A home run in his last at bat as a pro in game 7 of the World Series in which the cubs break a 116 year drought. Not gonna be able to top that.
This is why I love baseball fans. Respect is given to all kinds of different players. Giving David Ross and players like him storybook endings they deserve!
Charlie Culberson for the Dodgers. He only played in two seasons with the team playing a grand total of 49 games (he spent most of his time in AAA), but he hit the walk off home run that clinched the NL West in 2016 on Vin Scully's final game at home, and that home run was his first in over two years. He ended up hitting only one more HR as a Dodgers and it was in Game 2 of the 2017 World Series. Charlie was clutch! (I'm just going to spam this comment until a video on Charlie Culberson is made)
As a lifetime O's fan, i agree 100%. Not a ton of HR power, but good power to the gaps that was good for 35-45 doubles, 10-15 HR, decent OBP, good defense (won a couple gold gloves), rarely missed any playing time.
Thank you so much for making this video! Ross was always one of my favorite catchers. A true ball player, leader, and teammate. I couldn't be more happy for him in all his accomplishments, and we're all blessed to have watched him play the game
My love of baseball is player-centric. I have some team loyalties here & there, and loving coming back to root for an old favorite team when they're having a great year, and have a lot of great players. But I have a stronger loyalty to the players. I became a huge fan of Ross & Lester when I was following the 2013 Red Sox. I'd always been a big fan of Big Papi, so I felt at home cheering the Red Sox on towards their 3rd modern championship. When I was following the Cubs in 2016, I was so happy to get to cheer on the battery of Lester & Ross once again. It felt like magic! And the Ross train went all the way to that epic Home Run in the greatest Game 7 in the history of baseball!!!
I still remember, going to my 1st ever baseball game in 2003 as a 7/8 year old kid and it was a dodger game. I went to the side wall near the 3rd base line and tried to get an autograph from a player. It was David Ross. He said he couldn't cuz he was catching that day. Me a bummed out kid, was very sad and held a grudge against him for quite a while because I never got that autograph. Well, as years went by, and all the good things i heard about grandpa rossy, I started to soften up, and was like, he had to do his job, as well as, not realize he was basically a rookie then. So when he got his last hoorah in the WS in 16, i was happy for him.
That 2013 Red Sox WS team was full of David Ross type players, just blue collar guys who all loved to play the game. He was only here for 2 years but I loved the way he played...When he get a big hit or went deep he always acted like it was his first time. You could tell he appreciated every minute he was out there. He was awesome with the younger pitchers and well he could grow one hell of a beard. Even after he went to the Cubs I still followed him along with Jon Lester. That one hurt my heart I wanted to keep Lester so bad he was an innings work horse
What a great series! I love it! 2002 David Eckstein I’m a yankee fan but live locally in SoCal and have vivid memories of this ball player KILLIN it in Anaheim when I was young.
Incredible video dude. I have a newfound appreciation for Ross’s contributions to Boston’s 2013 run. If you could do a vid on Kevin Youkilis that’d be super cool Mr. Storm
I met David Ross at a Red Sox spring training game. He was trying to hide within the crowd but still gave us an autograph. As a Cubs fan, that was one of the best spring training games i’ve been to in a while.
Great video my dude. Everybody loves the underdog story, also it really shows how important leadership is in the clubhouse. Guess it makes sense he became a coach after playing.
A video on Andre Ethier would be pretty cool. It’s crazy that after all his injuries he was playing in the 2017 World Series and even drove in a run in Game 7.
Although he barely spent any of his major league time in Chicago. He's one of the most celebrated players for his contributions to the team when he did play for us. Along side his great personality. And now he's managing our team with some ups and downs but we have a bright future
Love the video. Anything that let's me relive the 2016 Cubs is OK with me. The Rossy/Rizzo connection on defense should be mentioned. One way they combatted Lester's yips was with Rossy's strong arm and Rizzo's elite 1B defense being an ever present threat of picking you off if you leaned too far. 6 pick offs in 215 and 5 in 2106, with a few more in both year's playoffs.
This guy has immense immense baseball mental talent combined with being a tremendous and terrific clubhouse presence. There is zero reason the Cubs shouldn't sign him to a deal for as long as they can. They're bad now which was to be expected after the WS salaries started coming due, but they'll be good again soon and they'll need a manager like him to get there
I’m sure this won’t get chosen, but Ryan Zimmerman meant so much to the nats, he was there for us from our first games, to our first World Series, I think it’s a great story and deserves a video
I usually never make requests, but someone needs to make a video about October 15, 2022: The Greatest Day in MLB Postseason History. Very rarely are there 4 postseason games in one day, yet every single one of them were memorable and legendary.
If this is going to be a continuing series, I would love to see you cover Jose Lima's tenure with the Dodgers. While brief, Lima Time was big in Los Angeles.
A video about improbable playoff performances/home runs would be awesome. Travis Ishikawa's walk off 3 run shot. David Bote's walk off slam. Adam Kennedy's 3 home run game
If you're looking for players beloved by their fan base, it would be cool to see one on Adam Jones from Baltimore. Great guy that was super involved in the community. Not to mention he was really talented
As a cubs fan I would love to see him in the hall of fame or just the Cubs hall of fame he made that 2016 team he had the leadership and he is my favorite player of all time
I'm going to go to the wayback machine for my suggestion: Kurt Bevacqua. For you younger guys, he was a utility player who somehow managed a 15 year career from 1971-1985 for 6 teams despite a career -3.9 WAR, 78 OPS+, and 27 HRs. However, in the only postseason appearance of his career for the 1984 Padres, he hit .412 with an .882 SLG and 2 HRs against the Tigers in the World Series.
Can you do a video about Bernie Williams. Probably a HOFer if he didn’t play alongside juiced players in the 90s. Also was a consistent 300/400/500 CFer through his prime, before that was even a thing. Was also a very quiet and introverted musician which may have contributed to him being overlooked and underrated.
Always liked David Ross had some big moments in 2013 and 2016. I remember him and Lester developed a system where Ross put colored tape on his fingers so Lester could see his signs better.
I'm not sure if this has been said yet. But Mark Grace was the first baseman for the Cubs for like 10 years. So rossy hitting his first career home run off him is kinda full circle
I have a suggestion for this series: Steve Pearce for the 2018 world series. He won world series MVP and it has a happy ending with the red Sox winning it all.
Dude still has the most epic moment in modern baseball history. A home run in his last at bat as a pro in game 7 of the World Series in which the cubs break a 116 year drought. Not gonna be able to top that.
He was the first player to homer for the Cubs in both the 1908 World Series and the 2016 World Series
@@StarkRavingSports eh?

Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Thats a hell of a story for the grandkids. Wow!
To hit a home run in a World Series Game 7 and that being his final game. That was magical. Very improbable to happen again.
Will never forget that 2016 World Series and David Ross, some of the happiest moments of my life
This is why I love baseball fans. Respect is given to all kinds of different players. Giving David Ross and players like him storybook endings they deserve!
Ah David Ross. Had the absolute best sendoff you could ever have in baseball history. And he's not a half-bad skipper either! Thanks SRS!
The final out still brings a tear to my eye.
Ross is forever a cubs legend and every real fan knows it

As a Red Sox fan I’m great full for rossy, but as someone who is also a cubs fan, I am eternally grateful for the history he created.
I would love to see a video like this on Brock Holt’s time in Boston. I’ve never seen a utility player better than him
He's definitely on the list
First playoff Cycle! What a wild run the Sox had in ‘18
@@tim.noonan I was at that game, I’ll never forget it
Seven seasons of on-and-off production for the Sox and I would straight up take a bullet for that man. A transcendental fan favorite
We miss him on the nationals.
Nick Markakis, possibly the most underrated and under appreciated player in history
As a lifetime O's fan, i agree 100%. Not a ton of HR power, but good power to the gaps that was good for 35-45 doubles, 10-15 HR, decent OBP, good defense (won a couple gold gloves), rarely missed any playing time.
I'd love to see a video on Rizzo's days in Chicago! Definitely the face of the franchise between '13-'21!
He’s by far my favorite cub ever
Modern day Mr cub
Have to agree with the both of you!
He'll always be a Cubbie in my eyes.
Thank you so much for making this video! Ross was always one of my favorite catchers. A true ball player, leader, and teammate. I couldn't be more happy for him in all his accomplishments, and we're all blessed to have watched him play the game

2002 David Eckstein

Do a video on Charlie culberson, he made insane clutch plays for the dodgers and Braves and more than 50% of his career home runs were walk offs
Loved Ross when he was with the Braves
As someone who has lived in the Chicagoland are my entire life, I loved watching this. The ending brought tears to me eyes. Great video!

I met David Ross at a Red Sox spring training game. He was trying to hide within the crowd but still gave us an autograph. As a Cubs fan, that was one of the best spring training games i’ve been to in a while.
Tyler Matzek. Just thinking about him shutting down the dodgers in the NLCS brings tears to my eyes
As a lifetime Braves fan we knew what he was capable of before he hit those legendary final chapters.

John MacDonald is beloved by Jays fans throughout the late 2000s/2010s - the father's day home run is also one of the best baseball moments ever

if the padres win the WS and grisham keeps performing like how he has been, I think he'll deserve a "How Trent Grisham Saved Himself" video
What does this have to do w Ross ? Quit shoehorning in whatever gurgling around in your brain when it isn’t applicable. It’s boring.

Since David Ross is my favorite player of all time this video makes me happy
Dustin Pedroia, the man was the soul of Boston for many years, won an MVP, and no one outside of New England remembers him.
And a rookie of the year
I always loved David Ross
Even though I'm a cardinals fan I fricken love David Ross. This man is something else.
I’m sure this won’t get chosen, but Ryan Zimmerman meant so much to the nats, he was there for us from our first games, to our first World Series, I think it’s a great story and deserves a video

Arietta, Hendricks and Lester was awesome for the cubs I'm glad Contreras got to learn from Ross he was a real vet
Also do Gerardo Parra and the 2019 Nationals. Or Brandon Dozier.
would you ever consider doing a video on paul konerko? btw great video

How about Ross' backup in 2016 Miguel Montero? Clutch hitting in NLCS with grand slam and driving in winning run in game 7 against Indians?
I think Terrance Gore would be interesting. His role in the 2015 WS is something unique
