  • COMMONWEALTH CLUB. Richard Chamberlain has starred in some of the most watched productions in the history of television, including “Shogun” and “The Thornbirds,” and he starred as the original Jason Bourne in "The Bourne Identity". Chamberlain rose to fame as television's Dr. James Kildare and then took on the role of Hamlet on the English stage.
Even as he won the adoration of millions of fans, Chamberlain seriously questioned his own self-worth, living a life haunted by personal insecurity despite decades of immense popular success.
    Let's enjoy!

Thank you so much Astri for posting this wonderful interview. Richard Chamberlain is so good at articulating his feelings and experiences. His compassion and wisdom shine through and it is very generous of him to share these. I with a lot of people benefited enormously from his way of portraying the wonderful characters as he did with intelligence and grace, Blackthorne, Father Ralph, Wallenberg are my personal favourites. 'Shattered love' is enlightening in many ways and also helped me grow. The breadth of his talent is staggering and I think it is a great injustice that he has not -yet- been rewarded by an Oscar. Oh and I don't really mind those 'plonkers' in Haiku, I did not see them as such. Thank you Richard for being who you are, the world is a better place for having you in it. With love and gratitude

As an 8 yr old girl, I fell in love with Dr.Kildaire. And now in 2023 I love him more for his respectful communication with everyone...for his soft spoken baritone bass voice...ohhh, his voice. Great podcast.

Thank you Astri for this podcast with Richard's picture and voice. He's wonderful, but he has known that for many years, so I don't want to repeat myself every time, it probably drives everyone crazy. Richard is a very big and well-known star in the USA and he makes a very personable impression on his fans and also has a very pleasant voice. But Richard himself knows how he affects the entire fan world and humanity. He is wonderful.

It's happened that I saw The Thorn Bird at the first time only two weeks ago. I knew nothing about great success the movie that time but immediately fall in love with Father Ralph and movie itself. I finished the movie and repeated again and read the book also. I searched internet to find information about Richard Chamberlain and was terrified with news about his recent death. It was like to lose close friend suddenly; I was not ready for that, a lot of pain and sadness. I am glad that I found your Podcast among the others, it gives me feeling that he is still among us. Actually, Richard Chamberlain stays with us as Father Ralph and other characters - his creation. Thank you.

Amare l’amore. L’amore vuole essere amato, perdonato, capito, apprezzato, confinato nello spazio vero dell’amare. Un circuito per progredire e distinguere.❤
