would be interesting to dig even deeper into this decade and give points based on their finishes like top 5 is 3 top 10 is 2 top 20 is 1 and anything outside of that is zero. Of course you could create your number system but that would give us a true leader out of these 3
Paul McBeth has placed 1st or 2nd at the past NINE world championships. Way too early to tell for this decade, but with that streak still alive I have to stick with McBeth
@@GGoodroad Did you watch the European Open or Ledgestone? Paul has been playing great. It's not that he has gotten lazy, it's that players like Eagle are stepping up and moving the entire sport to the level where Paul has been for the last decade. So, it's not as likely anymore that Paul is going to have huge leads like he used to get, or even win as often, but that says more about the growth of the sport and young players than it does about Paul.
A final round lead card stat would be interesting to see. Calvin has to be up there. Paul is my favorite overall but Ricky is amazing too. Ricky would be so dominant if Paul didn't exist in his decade. Chris is so consistent due to his competitive drive. Calvin is my favorite personality and his play style is what I try to mimic. He seems to operate with the philosophy "the shortest distance between two points is a ... laser." Gannon is also looking more and more impressive I could see him in the next few years doing what paul did last decade. The only thing is each new year brings more and more competition so harder and harder for dominance. The Ken Klimo days are long gone. Thanks for the videos.
@Mr. chicano Records dont mean shit. The competition now is far fiercer and the quality far higher than in his day. The best example of this is Michael Jordan being equal 9th on the all time list of most NBA titles but is the goat.
@Mr. chicano that's dumb for several reasons. 1. Mcbeth isn't even out of his early 30s and Climo is done. Mcbeth may yet outdo him. 2. Look at climos form versus Mcbeth. Mcbeths is tight and powerful. Climo looks gangly and all over the place when he throws. If he had the same discs as Mcbeth, he wouldn't be able to control them as well. 3. Your not a historical disc golfer. Do you have a degree? Do you have a certification? No. You're just some idiot on the Internet. 4. I've personally seen Mcbeth and Climo throw. Again Mcbeth is almost technically perfect while Climo just looked sloppy. 5. Climos legacy will always be tainted, in that he won all of this at the beginning. And as someone else mentioned, the competition was shit back then. Mcbeth is winning against the best of the best, not the best at the beginning.
After watching the European Open I think a healthy Eagle will give everyone a run for their money, that being said Ricky is a legend and him and Paul are the best in the world at this time in my opinion.
No way to determine this one a few years into 2020s but for the last few years Ricky has been extremely consistent winning big events, being a contender, and/or being in the top. So much amazing talent to watch now
Awesome video! With the way things are going you can't only count first place in my opinion. There's a huge potential for making another video about who's the best player of the decade or even right now. Bhur, Calvin, eagle, lizotte and many more should be counted. Keep up the good work man!
There’s so many great ones not on the list! Simon has played really well, Calvin and Conrad are also up there as well. Hoping Eagle can recover and come back strong, he’s my favorite player to watch
Paul, Ricky, Eagle (especially if he gets his sidearm back), Calvin, Dickerson are the best now and I could see any of these taking the top spot for the decade. But Gannon is a force to be reckoned with at such a young age.
I think eagle is going to pop off in a few years if he gets the sidearm back like it was in the past. Hes so good player overall insane backhand drive insane forehand insane putt. I think he’s losing because of mental game.
Agreed... Eagle was killin it. ...and is so focused on recovery that when he comes back i expect it will be a story for the ages. He will dominate. My money is on Eagle!
It's to premature to call it for this decade, but I will say that Gannon Buhr currently has the highest potential of anyone right now. If he can keep his head in it, he's going to be the guy to beat.
I was thinking the same thing. There are a lot of young guys coming on strong, Burh and Kline are 2 that I think can take over this decade. Also with Simon playing more conservative and not "showing" off that he can also come out on top of this decade
There's a different one of those guys every few years and they always fizzle out. Couple years ago you would have said that about Shusterick, last year people said that about Kyle Klein.
I think Isaac Robinson is going to deliver... He is new to the scene, but what he has done so far is VERY impressive and the decade is "young". I expect a glorious career from Robinson!
I'm also doing this (only going back to the 90s) but I'm also looking at participation rates. Its very interesting. Eagle is also pushing for the 20s. But a lot of time left

A healthy Simon and Eagle to finish the 2020’s is going to be hard to beat. Then the new comers like Klein and Burr are gonna make strides in the coming years. Gonna be close. Can’t rule out Dickerson, Ricky, or even Paul though honestly.
Currently I would agree with the points system for this decade. The three mentioned are most likely to stay in the top 5 by the end of the 2020s but I would suggest that there is a good chance that Simon or Eagle could push any one of them out. You have to consider age differences and how that will affect the older players through the rest of the decade in terms of physical health currently all three you have listed don't have any issues, while both Simon and Eagle have had injuries that have held them back from competing. However, Simon has been on a really strong run this year and Eagle is obviously having a fantastic return at the European Open. But personally I hope it ends up being Chris Dickerson. As a fellow Tennessean I Enjoy watching him slay the woods golf courses. He also competes at the highest level on the open bomber courses. And of course his humble and honest demeanor make him easy to be a fan of.
In my opinion Ricky has been extremely dominant so far in the 2020s. I actually think that for the 2020s specifically there are quite a few players between Ricky at the top, and McBeth who I may honestly place at like 7th or 8th for the whole decade. Your point system isn't terrible, but the focus on wins only rather than incorporating placement across all tournaments heavily favors inconsistent play. Calvin Heimburg has the longest top 5 placement streak in the Udisc era. Then we have someone Like Gannon Buhr who has seemingly placed top 10 in every single event he's played this year, I believe he is going to end up as the dominant player of the 2020s by the end of the decade.
McBeth at 7th or 8th?? Not even close bro. This year yes but he has a major this decade and many other wins. I think I have him at 2nd below Ricky but you can argue Chris Dickerson to be above him also.
@@amppuu3151 James Conrad has a major title this decade, is he top 5? If your answer is no, then you’re just ranking McBeth higher “because he’s Paul McBeth.” McBeth has had high highs but very low lows, this decade has been really inconsistent for him, for example, when he didn’t make the cut for final round of DDO. @@DarttheLegend Yes, but can you name someone who is more consistantly finishing in the top 10 this decade? And yes this is his worst decade if we don’t take the 2000’s where he didn’t play that much in to account. That doesn’t mean he isn’t consistant.
Chris’s consistency and mental fortitude make him a perennial challenger for the top spot in any important tournament. I was hoping to see Eagle bloom this decade but he has a lot to come back from; we’ll see if his life focus shifts away from disc golf or not. McBeth may find it more challenging to keep up with the likes of these youngsters towards the latter half of this decade. I think Ricky has a real chance to come through, unless Gannon decides, hey, this is my time. Simon is very good too, but I think now that he has proved he can win, it will be hard for him to maintain the motivation.
Ricky has been doing really well this decade, and being this seasons champion, and I'm excited to see how his and Paul McBeth's careers continue. I am also curious to see how as we get later into the decade some of these younger players who are really making a name for themselves play out. I think Eagle is definitely someone to watch as he was the highest rated player in 2018, and having his success at the European open this open really speaks to his abilities. Gannon is also looking to be a top player in the next few years as well, so only time will tell. Simon I think should be in the conversation, I don't think his stats necessarily speak to his abilities. In a video from Scott Stokely, Simon said he never has been competitive with disc golf and always played for the fun of it, which is why he would through his "Simon lines". This year he started playing in a more winning mindset and it shows with his wins. I don't think his stats will ever show that he is the greatest of the decade, but if we go off of pure talent, there is a conversation to be had of if he could have been.
I don't keep up with disc golf but my pediatrician was Dr. Rick Voakes. I heard in our town in Bowling Green KY he was one of the best in America. Is he known in the Disc Golf World
Honestly i think it is fair to call it a tie between the three of them for this decade. Paul is the most consistent week in and week out, Chris has won some huge tournaments in dominating fashion but has taken some time off here and there, Ricky has won a lot of events but when he doesn’t win he falls apart. I think this early on it’s fair to say they’re tied. Honorable mention would be James Conrad if he could stack up a few more majors in the next few years and maybe another worlds
The level of this players today are unfathomable! I think Dickerson is the hottest right now (this year, so far) out of those 3 and even he came in second with stellar perfomance at idlewood to Isaac Robinson. I cant imagine the roster being more competitive or that it ever has been. It seems to me that the sport is in its golden years now. So lets all enjoy it!
Not having fallowed disc golf pros and just watching highlights of the recent European open, I'm surprised Eagle McMahon didn't get a mention. Only because of how he played in what I watched.
Too many years to say. By the time we get to 2030 the scene will look very different. If I had to project it would be Gannon, Calvin, Eagle(?), maybe Ricky or Klein. It will not likely be Paul, though I wish it so! Good piece of work, thanks.
Ricky, Chris, and Paul will always be there in contention for being the best. I think there are so many talented young guns that have to potential to take over though. Will they and will they stay consistent though? Gannon B, Robinson, or Klein all could be the best for 2020s. Kind of a side note but I hope Calvin and Jump putt Jones get some wins this year. Be awesome to see them take some wins.
I look at it like this… who would you hand your disc to on hole 18 to win a Major or Worlds..?? I understand being clutch, but that’s a great measuring stick for “the best player “ so far in the 20’s. Just my opinion….
I was thinking about this the other day, but I think Dickerson is currently the best player, but it's a complete toss up and I can make and believe an argument for a few players. He just came back and is already challenging for lead card. McBeth and Ricky seem to be running into a little consistency issues. It seems they are red hot or somewhere mid pack recently, sometimes in the same weekend which is hurting their finishes. Dickerson was hot before his sabbatical and he seems to be pretty consistent near the top of the card right now.
Its so close but ill give to Ricky based on current rating. Dickerson is my pick to win worlds though. Feldberg and Heimburg are my two personal favorite players.
i like the video, i am talking about the best of all time. climo won more than mcbeth but, climo was not playing against the competition in that era. now we have countless numbers of players that could win any tournament. anywhere from a 16 year old to a 40 year old, big difference. paul has 5 championships to this day, now who is the real goat? please let me know what you think. thanks.
I agree with Ricky wysocki! He stands a to be a force when it comes to windy states as you can see from all the wins at Texas stats and with all the wins in Emporia Kansas, with that said world's are just around the corner and I would put my money on him for his 3rd world's title! Giving him the edge over Chris and Paul.
I'm the best player of the decade. I haven't played any pro events. But watch out. Cause uhhh.. I got what it takes! Haha. Kidding man. I could never keep up with these guys. But one could dream.
Matty O is the best player of this decade. He will go on to win every tournament from now on, including those he doesn't participate in. Trust me. I legitimately think Gannon Buhr will dominate. He's already a contender, imagine how good he'll be in 2 or even 4 years. The decade is still young, and it's insane that he'll only be 25 years old when the decade ends.
I think Ricky is numba 1 so far, cause he almost always finishes top 5-10, is consistently shooting great every tourny, not that Chris and Paul aren’t also playing consistently great, just not to the extent that Ricky is. If he wins a major soon that would really cement it for me thus far
McBeth is the GOAT... I mean c'mon, first guy to get a $1 mil endorsement, his highlights actually put Disc Golf onto ESPN and other mainstream media, not to mention the countless tournaments he's won. I'm always gonna be an Eagle and Conrad fan... but McBeth is the GOAT
It's the decade of the 🦅🦅🦅 my dudes! Don't forget the kid is still only 24. He's hitting his prime. Once he recovers from this labrum tear he's gonna make y'all remember the thin young bird
McBeth.. It'll have to be a player who can manage their injuries. McBeth has done so thus far. (knock knock). It'll be a forever ongoing debate between Climo and McBeth as the GOAT!! Ricky has a great personality and crowd favorite; injuries for high level athletes tend to build over time, or develop into other areas of the body due to compensation. Which is why we could see a later decline in the decade with players like Lizotte and Eagle. I'd love to watch players like Calvin and Buhr develop in the next few years. Last interesting perspective - COVID flooded the Disc Golf Market and I think in a few years we might see some elite newcomers, maybe a KC 2.0?!
I think if your rating system included points for top 10 finishes, McBeth would still be the clear winner. Ricky has been impressive, but Paul has been in the mix more often than Ricky.
Damn I guess I’ve really slept on Chris Dickerson, although I’ll say Ricky is probably the best player right now. Kyle Klein is still young and, in my opinion, hasn’t hit his prime yet. It’ll be exciting to see what he does over the next few years.
Considering there are many years left in the decade, Gannon Buhr or even the likes of Kyle Klein would arise. I'm not seeing the big dogs, like the three mentioned in the video, as well as Eagle, Calvin, Simon, Adam Hammes, etc. . . . I'm not seeing them suddenly fading, but there are some young guns who could rise to challenge their legacies this decade. I also have to say I think Matt Orum is amazing though he may not get mentioned as often as the other brutally talented disc golfers right now.
Who has won the most money? I think that’s maybe the biggest thing. If there is money, everyone is going to be there and that also gives points for being consistent top 10.
You literally admit you based the best player of an entire decade (the 1970's) on ONE tournament? Sure it was a big tournament, and Tom Kennedy may well BE the best player of the 1970's, but I can't help but see this as a very flawed methodology. Hell, he was barely even the best player in that one tournament; he had to go to sudden death to win it!
With the way Paul is trending this season I just don't see a way he takes down the decade. Definitely think Ricky and Chris are leading the pack but wouldn't be surprised if some of the younger guys pull ahead in the next few years. My money is on Rick but keep an eye on Calvin.
I can't imagine thinking someone without a single Major title would even be considered in the top. Like crowning the best basketball player but oh by the way has 0 rings. Just doesn't work in sports.
For me it's a toss up between young guys coming in and dominating the second half of this decade or the older veterans claiming the best of the decade. I'd say it's going to be close between Gannon Burr and Casey White
Still MacBeth. He is always right in the mix of every Major tournament. Ricky is again a close second. Chris is always a threat but not quite in their class yet. Still early in the decade
I think Chris Dickerson is the best player in our decade so far.
100% most fun to watch

Does R. M. Disc Golf have a discord server or some other community setup?
Thought Nate Doss would have gotten on the list for the 2010 decade 🤷♂️ He must have been close.
Yeah… no mention of 3x world champion Nate Doss […] feels wrong.
Not having fallowed disc golf pros and just watching highlights of the recent European open, I'm surprised Eagle McMahon didn't get a mention. Only because of how he played in what I watched.
5 decades in a row: Ken Climo
This is premium content
Wysoki has also been having issues with lymes disease this year. Dude is fire.
Too many years to say. By the time we get to 2030 the scene will look very different. If I had to project it would be Gannon, Calvin, Eagle(?), maybe Ricky or Klein. It will not likely be Paul, though I wish it so! Good piece of work, thanks.
Oh, forgot about AB. He’s a very possible.
Calvin won Jonesboro this year
Gotta be Chris, the consistency is crazy.
I think Paul Mcbeth is the best to ever play.
I look at it like this… who would you hand your disc to on hole 18 to win a Major or Worlds..??
I understand being clutch, but that’s a great measuring stick for “the best player “ so far in the 20’s. Just my opinion….
McBeth. He switched companies, got one world title, and another one stolen by the most famous shot in the sport. And a pandemic stole the third.
Maybe we have yet to see this decades top player
I was thinking about this the other day, but I think Dickerson is currently the best player, but it's a complete toss up and I can make and believe an argument for a few players. He just came back and is already challenging for lead card. McBeth and Ricky seem to be running into a little consistency issues. It seems they are red hot or somewhere mid pack recently, sometimes in the same weekend which is hurting their finishes. Dickerson was hot before his sabbatical and he seems to be pretty consistent near the top of the card right now.
Too early to say, there is a huge influx of young players that can easily dominate the rest of this decade. Now do the ladies and I'll sub.
Eagle now has 9 points.
The decade is still young, and it's insane that he'll only be 25 years old when the decade ends.
im here right after 2022 worlds... no spoilers but that makes my decision pretty easy for our decade currently....
Eagle is up there just added a major title but Paul will always be my favorite
Paul and Ricky and the 2 best modern players but Chris Dickerson and James Conrad are by far the most entertaining.
You need to add some points for top 5 and top 10, the level of comp is very high and making top 5/10 on the reg is a big deal
If Gannon Burr stays focused over the next 7 years, he will be the best. That kid has some serious game.
I think if your rating system included points for top 10 finishes, McBeth would still be the clear winner. Ricky has been impressive, but Paul has been in the mix more often than Ricky.
He also plays way fewer events so his win % is crazy.
Simon Lizotte.... Calvin "Vinny" Heimburg.... Gannon Buhr..... no mention???
If we factor in style… gotta give it to PmcB… I’m brand new to this sport, but dude strikes me as the Roger Federer of Disc Golf.
I thought eagle mcmahon but he's kinda gone now I guess after his injury. I was gonna say eagle or Ricky
I miss watching Eagle play
That comment didn't age well in the past 5 days. 😆
we can probably skip the first 4 minutes of the video that will feature nothing but Climo, Climo, and more Climo. Dude dominated for so long!
Damn I guess I’ve really slept on Chris Dickerson, although I’ll say Ricky is probably the best player right now. Kyle Klein is still young and, in my opinion, hasn’t hit his prime yet. It’ll be exciting to see what he does over the next few years.
Yeah I failed to mention Kyle Klein. Don't be surprised if he makes a charge second half of the decade.
Simon Lizotte is gonna be if my man keeps up the good work
Simon Lizotte its his year to dominate😈
I think Eagle McMahon because he has 1 major 4 national tour and 2 pro tour wins so far.
Who has won the most money? I think that’s maybe the biggest thing. If there is money, everyone is going to be there and that also gives points for being consistent top 10.
Ricky.... obviously. Dont see how anyone could disagree. Add in top ten finishes and its a landslide
As far as the 2020s are concerned, it's going to be Rick, Dickerson, or Calvin.
Eagle will end up best in the decade imo. Kids coming back with furious vengeance
Odd Sport! It looks fun!
So he's my favorite player and I'm a little biased, but I think Barsby is really coming into his own. these past few years. Doing incredibly well.
Ricky is the best player of our decade. He wears dinosaurs
I really think Climo will always be the GOAT.
I can't imagine thinking someone without a single Major title would even be considered in the top. Like crowning the best basketball player but oh by the way has 0 rings. Just doesn't work in sports.
I guess you need to start counting points for 2nd and 3rd places too.
For me it's a toss up between young guys coming in and dominating the second half of this decade or the older veterans claiming the best of the decade.
I'd say it's going to be close between Gannon Burr and Casey White
Keep an eye out on KJ USA...
Still MacBeth. He is always right in the mix of every Major tournament. Ricky is again a close second. Chris is always a threat but not quite in their class yet. Still early in the decade
