A few minutes ago I experienced the strongest earthquake since the volcano erupted. M5.0 at a depth of 50 km. It was later corrected from M4.8 at 39 km depth.

As a survivor of the 1980 Mt Saint Helen's eruption, and even though I greatly appreciate and enjoy your reporting, I would caution you that now would be a very good time to run away and not come back until there is confidence that the worst is over. Luck!

Crazy how lava is streaming down towards the city and there’s still cars and lights right by it. Like they are too busy for the lava. They gotta live life. Praying the lava stops, ash stops, and also praying for the dogs that are trapped and for the plan of the rescuers to work. As always, thank you for your faithful reporting. God bless you.
The lava, so far, has given warning of its movement, so people have been able to move out of its way. The danger to the towns around Cumbre Vieja would mostly come from a sudden side directed explosion, I don’t think there is a history of this kind of eruption on La Palma.

I'm in awe how people remain there. I wouldn't be able to sleep or feel safe. It feels like the volcano may tear open wider as the surface weakens. You are so brave to be there voluntarily. Praying for all to be prompted to know when & how to evacuate safely & that the animals don't succumb to the toxic gases or ash in their respiratory system before they're rescued.
It's almost like that bit of canaries in the mine so you know when to leave only those poor dogs will tell the tale n I bet their lungs are near fried. This is a very unhealthy situation. No wonder people are hanging out at the bars.

So happy to hear there is a plan approved by the leaders of La Palma to rescue the 3 trapped dogs. Has there been anymore news on the cat with the white fluffy tail? I haven't heard anymore about the cat. Please keep us all posted on the rescue attempts for the animals. You're doing a fantastic job of reporting news on the volcano. No volcano in history has gotten 24/7 coverage like this one. That is why people keep thinking the absolute worst about it. It's actually quite normal for an active volcano.
People must remember ... La Palma isn't an island with a volcano on it. The entire island IS the volcano. Every other island in the Canary Islands chain is a volcano too. Evidence to support this? Dark brown sand on the La Palma beaches (Igneous in origin).

Careful... you missed the report when he was even more stressed. Same scenario, out there looking over his shoulder at the volcano, breathless with excitement, ... but youtube music-noise already added to the video. Obviously not out there. No more reason today than on that day for any GET READY. Anyway, I like the almost live views of the volcano. They're more interesting when they have a mountain slope to carry the magma away and a convenient ocean to dump it into. In a few months, a big lava tube there is going to be one of the world's hottest tourist attractions.
Not level-headed at all. He is exaggerating in order to get more views. I recommend another channel, GutnTog. That's a great guy with experience in reporting volcano eruptions and he gets much closer to the events.

That smoke is so dangerous to inhale. It's like swallowing ground up glass and gravel. I lived in Washington state during Mt. St. Helens explosion. It was scary!!

That ash usually contains micro glass which will cause problems if you don't use a mask

@@epiphonium Ash and micro glass comes in large enough particles that a dust mask would help prevent you from inhaling it. It wouldn't help anything if a large amount of gas were to blast out of the volcano.

Please remember MT. St. Helen's had a new vent open, very black smoke and the entire side blew off with a 5.1 earthquake. I think evacuation should be eminent for those close. You have 2 cones and 4 vents!!!
I lived in St.Helens OR when the mountain blew.. fortunately it blew out in the opposite direction..with the full moon in Aries in 15 hrs and Mars squaring Pluto I feel it’s going be emanate. Many volcanoes are active. Prayers for all in harms way to be protected🙏🏼

Glad for the dog update hope they get them out. If any volcanologists or geologists are reading, is this an average eruption for this volcano, and similar to the eruption in the 70’s? I just see a lot of people saying it’s bad but they don’t mention they have credentials and credibility to say so…
Sadly it wouldn't matter if any volcanologists or geologists commented. Look at most of the commenters on Bushcraft Bear's volcano videos - they don't trust scientists. So anything said by someone so skilled would be ignored ... people have already made up their mind what they want to believe.
This world is rapidly heading back to the Stone Age - not in terms of technology, but in terms of the belief systems of the people in it From a collective intelligence viewpoint, human society in the 2020's is no more smarter than a bunch of monkeys with mobile phones - the Internet is proof of that.

Coachella Valley here: we are on sand and during an EQ we just sort of float on it. Those folks are on the rocks, getting all torn up.
