We had a comment saying we should try this on a 25 year old tap rather than a new one....We have, it works on all taps no matter how old. The principle of leverage cannot be denied, however old the tap is!
We have also been told that a good set of spanners is better, sometimes it seems that the name DIY Doctor is a really tricky concept. It does not matter how good or expensive the spanners are....Its the guy on the other end of them that counts and this piece of kit can be used by a child and costs less than the best spanners.
I've used this (posibite) recently on a tap with a rounded nut that was beyond buggered. It worked. I'd have been less surprised if it didn't.
Excellent tool. I had this very problem today and ended up trying WD40 then had to wedge a piece of wood between the tap and my tiled wall to keep the tap from moving as I snapped the nut off. I did have a towel against the wall to cushion the wood but it would be very easy to crack a tile. This tool would have made the job much easier. Great video.
I would liked to have seen this used on 25 yr old puttied in tap instead of a brand new tap!!!
Get yourself the best spanners you can afford and DON'T
Use an adjustable spanner as it will just chew the nut.
