@@residentevilclone Exactly what I thought, Rule has a very interesting plot, setting and atmosphere but the actual gameplay is not good. Kuon's on the other hand is pretty alright
@@Walamonga1313 Both games have disastrous gameplay and Kuon is not so interesting. ROR could be the best remake of the history, maybe has the most fascinating story of a game ever made.
I think the original Manhunt deserves a spot in this list. Controversy aside, it had amazing atmosphere. And Pigsy was one of the scariest characters in gaming at the time
great list, could also call it about the 10 most expensive PS2 horror games of all time. for whatever reason, on literally almost any console, horror game enthusiasts get the shaft in terms of these types of games going for $$$ in the retro market.
That's because most of the greats are either Japanese or banned, meaning the price often goes through the roof as both affect availability of western versions. The Japanese tend to end their print runs much sooner and couldn't care less about backlash. It's making me think of games like Haunting Grounds and Godhand (both Capcom... haha).
I love Obscure. I have a fond memory of spending a New Years Eve playing through that game with my friend, we played that, watched The Last Samurai & drank a bottle of whiskey between us. It was great, one of the best NYE's I've ever had
look I really didn't expect SH2R to be as good as it is but I am glad it is 🤠 also Team Silent obviously, not Team Sleep, my fav Deftones side project lol
Nobody did. Konami is terrible now, and Bloober is an amateur dev. It’s a miracle that SH2R is great. Or rather, maybe the original is so great it’s impossible to screw up a remake.
There is also Final Exam [2013] that is set in the ObsCure world, allbeit cartoony and comical. It's a very fun arcadey brawler and platformer. Stages have multiple "floors" like Vanillaware games so you have to explore a bit and complete basic objectives to complete a stage. Shanon is in it and there are references to 1 & 2. It's a blast for the price.
I loved forbidden siren, forbidden siren 2 and clock tower 3. I haven't played haunted ground or rule of rose yet through. I'm planning to get both of those games soon. Extermination was pretty good if we're talking about games exclusive to ps2.
I was absolutely enchanted by Run Like Hell when I played it on my PS2 being somewhere between 13-15 years old. Absolutely loved the slow beginning, perhaps it was my first experience with one. Was quite surprised to see it got mixed reviews at best.
I think that Cold fear was really fun in the first part, but unfortunately I felt like that it dropped in quality when you got to the oil rig. I may be saying this also because I really liked the rocking boat gimmick, so I'm acknowledging that I'm biased.
Big Dead Aim fan here. I used to make it a pseudo co op game by controlling the character with the controller and a friend used a USB mouse to do the shooting. It was janky but still a memory I won’t forget.
cool list! never played most of these but will be looking to track down a copy of haunting ground for sure. Been looking for a scfi game on ps2 for years, seen it on a compilation video but forgot the name. It was similar to no mans sky, well traversing from planet to space station at least. I remember it being praised for that technical achievement alone, for the time. That's all I got I'm afraid. Does anyone have any ideas ?
The Thing, Resident Evil 4 and Silent Hill 2 were such Bangers. Oh another that should be on the list is Parasite Eve. Edit: Just watched you're best PS1 Horror games and i thought Parasite Eve was for PS2. Gotta say it looked really good for a PS1 game.
That's what I was gonna say! Fatal Frame 3 is a little too over ambitious so there way too much going on. Fatal Frame 2 on the other hand feels like the most distilled form of what makes Fatal Frame games good.
Obscure 1 and 2. I have better memories of Obscure 2, better graphics and gameplay. Outbreak is ok but every other RE is more fun like 1, Zero (remakes on PC) or 4 in PS2...
No there was one other game where you play a car chase and the one following you is the viewpoint you've. I can't remember the name though. There's probably a couple other games with that but yeah 2nd person is very rare
I know it sounds like a lie but I live in canada. The First time a friend brought this game over to my place and because I live out of town. We got hit by a blizzard and we had nothing else to do but play the game. Couldn't leave to go to school, he couldn't leave to go home.
WHAT!? You like Run Like Hell but don't like LifeLine?! What is wrong with you?? I bought an NTSC PS2 just to play that game! Well, I also had to import the game and since I had a US PS2 I bought a lot of NTSC games as well that I don't regret, especially seeing the prices of said games today... LifeLine is AWESOME! You should play Echo Night: Beyond!
Haven't checked the prices recently. But when I got my European copy only a handful of years ago THOSE were pretty cheap. For once it is the American copy that plays hard to get.
the problem is fatal frame 2 and 3 are at 30 fps and 60 fps cheats will make the game double speed.... I would love to play those games but there is no PC port :/ Those games should really get remastered and I dislike remasters
Not to be THAT guy…actually nah screw it. I AM going to be THAT guy. RE4 isn’t a PS2 game, it’s a GameCube game that was ported to the PS2. As a matter of fact, the PS2 version is notorious for being a butchered port

Fatal Frame series is my favorite horror franchise, the first one gave nightmares for two weeks straight.
19:20 - It probably shouldn't have, but the "Toblerone" bit got me to actually LOL. Nice. 👌🏿
Expensive hobby to get into is collecting these games.

You are now entering a world of survival horror
I had literally never heard of RE: Dead Aim until now.
it's pretty fine! very much alright!
im so glad haunting ground, obscure and rule of rose are on this list, my personal favourite ps2 games
Resident evil was the best looking game at the time. Any body else thinks that Leon looks like mckauly caulkin in OG 4 or is it just be me?

No love for the good boy in RE4? Good list.
I'll always have a soft spot for Outbreak 1/2 and also Extermination.
Siren is the most tense and hard game I ever played. I played at night in an isolated house of the countryside. Pure dopamine.
SH3 deserve a good mention too, as Fatal Frame 1 and 2, that are legendary.
I loved forbidden siren, forbidden siren 2 and clock tower 3. I haven't played haunted ground or rule of rose yet through. I'm planning to get both of those games soon. Extermination was pretty good if we're talking about games exclusive to ps2.

"Rule of Rose" Was another good game with a great story!
Siren looks so freaking creepy..
Im happy to see Haunting ground on here one of capcoms most underrated titles

*One game per franchise*
Me: *Sigh* Don't worry Code Veronica, you will always be my favourite in the series. 😪
I talk about the weird lightgun Code Veronica game in an upcoming video!
Buck McDollar 😂 Only as long as his middle name is Cash 😂😂
Good list 🇺🇸😁
How Obscurе misses a remaster, remake or similar games. Cold Fear was also a very good game.
Hey there, fellow RE dead aim defender here as well 🙋🏻♂️
Fatal Frame 3 over 2 is crazy to me. Both are great but 2 is better.
That's what I was gonna say! Fatal Frame 3 is a little too over ambitious so there way too much going on. Fatal Frame 2 on the other hand feels like the most distilled form of what makes Fatal Frame games good.
Resident Evil Dead Aim and Resident Evil 4 sleeves in your region are way better than what we got in the US
This is another list with games I wish I still owned.
Only thing scarier that the games is the price themselves
Not just horror but also open world and racing games
Those three genres of games are what made the PS2
Oh and platformers too!
I’d play a survival game as Buck McDollar.
This is a local shop for local people, there's nothing for you here.
Soooo... A physical copy of Rule of Rose is going to cost a 'No.' Got it.
Put it this way. A decent copy costs as much as my monthly mortgage payment…SOOOOOO glad I modded my PS2 with FreeMcBoot and installed a hard drive
I even own most of these games in my collection.
I never got to finish Cold Fear. I think I had it for the original Xbox.
If I had to play one, which one would you recommend: Obscure or Resident Evil Outbreak?
Obscure 1 and 2. I have better memories of Obscure 2, better graphics and gameplay. Outbreak is ok but every other RE is more fun like 1, Zero (remakes on PC) or 4 in PS2...
😢😢😢😮😮😮😮1. hunting ground 2. visitor 3. scary village😮😮😮3. vampire night
Yo no kuon. Feels like maybe you need a part 2 to this list if you are gonna miss one of the actual top 10s 😂
i would switch RE4 with SH2 and replace SH2 with SH3. And Fatal Frame 3 with FF1.
And yes Haunting Ground.
these are all great games
If rule of rose was a top ten horror game, that’s a bad place to be for a console.
Great, now I want to change my name to Buck McDollar
😢😢😮😮😮1.blade😮😮2. are you afraid of the dark😮😮3. goose bump😅😅😅
Now make a list for ps3 best horror games.❤
Fatal frame 1 n 2 are well better than ff3
Still don't played 3 but, Jesus Lord, 1 and 2 are legendary games overshadowed by RE and SH.
Rule of Rose is 100 hours long????
If you keep petting the dog every five minutes, yes. If you play normally it's about 7 to 10 hours long. 😉
You could rearrange the top 3 in any order and still be correct.
Really solid list, though I would replace Rule of Rose with Kuon and Silent Hill 2 with 3
Is Siren the only video game with 2nd person view?
No there was one other game where you play a car chase and the one following you is the viewpoint you've. I can't remember the name though. There's probably a couple other games with that but yeah 2nd person is very rare
