    They should buff Aura Break by making it nullify the effects of other Legendary abilities, like Orichalcum Pulse, Hadron Engine, the Ruin abilities, Beast Boost, Protosynthesis, Quark Drive, Turboblaze, Teravolt, Victory Star, Desolate Land, Primordial Sea, Delta Stream, and Neuroforce for example.
    It would make the ability a lot less niche, and turn Zygarde into the ultimate counter for Legendary Pokemon, Paradox Pokemon, and Ultra Beasts (which is very fitting in-lore, given that it is the protector of the ecosystem).

    For Aura Break, if Fairy and Dark Auras increase the power by 33%, then their total move power is 133%, reducing 133 by 25% (0.75*1.33) gives u almost a 100% (99.75%) so it does actually reduce their powers right back down to normal

    • @bottomtext251
      @bottomtext251 2 дня назад +7

      It doesn't reduce from 133% tho? It REVERSES the effect so it calculates from 100%.

    • @death_2719
      @death_2719 2 дня назад +4

      @@bottomtext251 Reversing the effect doesn't mean it will inherently calculate from 100%. Reversing the effect simply means that it will reduce the power of fairy and dark moves back down to 100% when under Aura Break. This is achievable with a 25% decrease from their current powers and that is what aura break does

    • @byeguyssry
      @byeguyssry День назад +2

      Doesn't Aura Break remove the fairy/dark aura and replace it with the reversed version?
      Edit: Bulbapedia:
      instead of multiplying the power of Fairy- or Dark-type moves by those Abilities' normal multiplier of approximately 4/3 (or more precisely, 5448/4096), the power of moves of that type is divided by 4/3 instead, resulting in a 25% decrease in power as long as both Abilities are active.

    I mainly just don't like abilities that are reskins of each other. Pure Power and Huge Power, for example, are the same ability but were exclusive to the Medicham and Azumarill families in Gen 3, respectively. I get that the Japanese names for the abilities are different, but they're the same thing at the end of the day. Another is Turboblaze and Teravolt from Reshiram/White Kyurem and Zekrom/Black Kyurem, respectively, are just Mold Breaker. But because they were box legends, they get "unique" abilities. I'm completely fine with abilities that merge multiple abilities, though, like Koraidon's Orichalcum Pulse, being a combo of Drought and Protosynthesis, or Miraidon's Hadron Engine, being Electric Surge and Quark Drive, as they're special enough to warrant being a new ability.

    • @Aaa-vp6ug

      Fair. (The rabbit pun in Huge Power’s Japanese name does make sense, but sticking a cool secondary effect onto Medicham would’ve been nice. {built-in Life orb? Galar Darmanitan has built in Choice Band after all})

    I agree with you about Defeatist.
    That's very absurd that Game Freak decided to give Archen and Archeops that ability cause for that effect of reducing both attack stats at half, like why? It's just given randomly and doesn't fit them. The options were change the effect to reducing both defense stats or giving a good ability but to make them broken like Intimidate, Quick Feet or any good ability.

    • @miikaroos3809

It makes setting up with Golisopod difficult and its main purpose is to give you access to First Impression again and save Golisopod for later in the game. It's the worst version of U-Turn and Parting Shot because you do not dictate when you are going to use it, instead, that's up to your opponent which isn't great.

BSTs and stat spreads like that weren't handed out like that but with the Pokemon coming out today it does not feel needed at all. Even with the possible reason of playthroughs there are other methods of not making it broken. I'd rather take a BS gen 5 high level evolution over Defeatist (some Unovan Pokemon WISH they evolved at lvl 37). Defeatist just feels like a lame fix for a Pokemon who I imagine only has that BST cause of the fun fact that it would match its National Dex number because Carracosta gets left in the dust in comparison.

    People already mentioned that the math behind Aura Break actually makes sense, but Aura Break is weird for a different reason. Aura Break doesn't cancel Fairy/Dark Aura; it reverses their effect. And since the three Aura abilities apply to all Pokemon on the field, Aura Break can end up making not just the enemies' but also your teammates' fairy/dark attacks worse than normal when Yveltal or Xerneas (a common mon in VGC) are on the field. For example, let's say that you have Zygarde with Aura Break on the field and an Incineroar with knock off. It's not immediately obvious that if the opponent switches one of their mons into Yveltal that Incineroar will fail to KO the opponent's other pokemon on the field when it would have KOed otherwise. Like, image if sunny day and rain could be active at the same time. Would you think water/fire attacks do regular damage as if weather was clear or less damage? Basically, the opponent can use Aura Break to their advantage to take less damage, if you don't play or build your team around it. This also means that AB Zygarde shouldn't be on the same team as the other two. Power Construct is a much better ability anyway lol.

It would imply Archeops gets bolder and more determined as it grows instead of giving up. Archen doesn't evolve until level 37, so the power spike wouldn't be too early.
