    For Aura Break, if Fairy and Dark Auras increase the power by 33%, then their total move power is 133%, reducing 133 by 25% (0.75*1.33) gives u almost a 100% (99.75%) so it does actually reduce their powers right back down to normal

    • @bottomtext251

    • @death_2719
      @death_2719 4 месяца назад +6

      @@bottomtext251 Reversing the effect doesn't mean it will inherently calculate from 100%. Reversing the effect simply means that it will reduce the power of fairy and dark moves back down to 100% when under Aura Break. This is achievable with a 25% decrease from their current powers and that is what aura break does

    • @byeguyssry

      Edit: Bulbapedia:
      instead of multiplying the power of Fairy- or Dark-type moves by those Abilities' normal multiplier of approximately 4/3 (or more precisely, 5448/4096), the power of moves of that type is divided by 4/3 instead, resulting in a 25% decrease in power as long as both Abilities are active.

    Okay I might be bad at math, but… using 4/3 as a multiplier for Fairy/Dark Aura, then Zygarde’s aura break only cutting 25% by just flipping the fraction and using 3/4… wouldn’t that still effectively be cancelling out the aura boost? 25% of 4/3 is just 1/3 and removing 1 from 4 just makes 3, so Aura Break turns that into 3/3… and then that effectively means that Xerneas and Yveltal do regular damage again… so doesn’t that mean aura break actually DOES do its job properly?
    Still doesn’t make it the best ability-

      Without an Aura, Dark moves are 33% stronger than with Aura Break

    • @nerddwarf
      @nerddwarf 4 месяца назад +1

      @chompyzilla You read my comment wrong
      With an Aura, a move of the same type does 33% more damage than if there was no Aura at all.
      Without any Aura at all, a move of the same type does 33% more damage than if the Aura was inverted.
      That is how it works with the current numbers of 4/3 and 3/4.
      It's the same concept of Burn cutting your attack power in half, which means it only drops to ×0.5, but to return to your normal power, you would have to double your power again. You need a Swords Dance to cancel out a Burn Nerf. Not a Bulk Up.
      THIS is also a huge reason why Rivalry sucks.
      If the math was accurate, if Rivalry was balanced, Rivalry would either boost Atk by 33% (not 25%) OR it would drop Atk by 20% (not 25%)
      Having it be ×1.25 and ×0.75 means the debuff is larger than the buff
      If Aura Break was 2/3, it would be a much larger debuff than the 4/3 buff from the Auras

    • @nerddwarf

    I mainly just don't like abilities that are reskins of each other. Pure Power and Huge Power, for example, are the same ability but were exclusive to the Medicham and Azumarill families in Gen 3, respectively. I get that the Japanese names for the abilities are different, but they're the same thing at the end of the day. Another is Turboblaze and Teravolt from Reshiram/White Kyurem and Zekrom/Black Kyurem, respectively, are just Mold Breaker. But because they were box legends, they get "unique" abilities. I'm completely fine with abilities that merge multiple abilities, though, like Koraidon's Orichalcum Pulse, being a combo of Drought and Protosynthesis, or Miraidon's Hadron Engine, being Electric Surge and Quark Drive, as they're special enough to warrant being a new ability.

    Archeops is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 567.
    It is also the only Pokémon whose base stat total matches its National Pokédex number.
    *This number is also part of the Dewey Decimal number 567.9, the number for feathered dinosaurs.*

    I feel like for that like for Decidueye they could’ve done anything but that lame ability
    It just doesnt make contact with contact moves like ‘-‘
    My idea is since the pokemon is an archer, he could bypass protect (since arrows are known to pass through some armors) or add a chance of flinching to each hit (not stackable with multi hit) since if you took an arrow you’d flinch 100%
    They could’ve made his crit ratio better than average
    Like anything would’ve been cooler :(

    This is the first time I ever heard about Slow start going to another pokemon.

    wimp out/emergency exit are pretty bad and truant obviously (it was a signature ability until durant got it as a hidden ability for some reason)
