Thank you so much for sharing, Angela! We love those suuuuper soft curls!! 😍
Thank YOU! Excited to keep playing 💕
Next time try putting just a bit of Curl Talk Mousse glazed over your hair. It has your protein. Your style will last for days and still be light and soft. As a refresh, put a couple of pumps of 3 in 1 into a spray bottle with water and spritz your hair and scrunch. Ta da, curl is back and summer humidity frizz is gone. No need to diffuse because you don’t need much. Great for during the day if you change up your style from a pony to down for evening as well.. For added lather with shampoo, don’t add more shampoo, add more water first. You can see, LUS is my holy grail. I have 2c/3a fine curls that need protein as well. I usually get most of my protein from a mask once a week.
Great tips!! Thanks for sharing :)
I would love to see you redo this video, but with adding in the gel they’ve created since you filmed this! My order is in the mail, and I’m pretty excited for it! My hair haaaaates protein, as I have extremely low porosity hair. My stylist told me that it was the lowest porosity she’s seen in her entire career. 😅 Protein completely straightens out my curls, so I’m excited to see how LUS works for me!
Weird story for me. I'm a lifelong straight hair girl, until..... the meno hit. I'm a year in to menopause and my hair decided to NOT be straight. It gets wavier/curlier by the day. So weird. I didn't even know that could happen. So, I'm here trying to figure out what to do with my new mop. I like going curly, and I get a better second day than first day. I'm in that phase where I don't know what to expect from my hair, and I have NO IDEA how to maintain curly hair. I didn't even know to look for protein containing products. I feel like my hair is a bit like yours...needs the moisture...another gift of menopause. I think I'll try this. I'm not sure what to do though when I get the result you got on day 2. Did you re-wash and start over or did you refresh with other products? I get frizz, and drooped curls, too. Halp!
Omg I didn’t think this was a thing and I was going crazy!
My hair is cooling up too and I just bought this. Hope it helps us!
I really like this product, I’ve been using it for maybe 3 years now and I get all kinds of compliments on my curls. I’ve just ordered the gel and hopefully I like it.
I am trying the LUS line and I have fine curls too. Day 1 was great. Day 2 I saw the falling curls also. I just felt like I was adding more and more product and weighing them down. I have never heard about protein for hair. I will be checking out your other videos. Thanks!
I think balancing the All-In-One with a bit of protein - I suggest a protein rich gel like Treluxe Hi! Definition or Ouidad’s many options - will do wonders for you!
How do you know if you need protein? I live in a super humid climate and am currently experimenting with LUS to see how it works.
I own the LUS Brands curl 3 step system and I think it’s marvelous the shampoo, conditioner and curl cream.
I wish you would have shown us how you diffused your hair.
Hey, idk if this helps, but Ouidad's botanical boost spray has a lot of protein and helps bring back 2nd day (or 5th day curls) great! Also, the Mixed Chicks morning after redefining foam is great if you like glycerin based product.
Great recommendations! Thanks for sharing! xx
It looks beautiful! It was prettier day one, of course, but it still looked pretty darn good day 2 when you weren't happy with it. But, considering you slept on it etc I'm very impressed. I just got my LUS kit today and used it for the 1st time.. I'm hoping I have similar success!! Thanks, I am interested in other tips on how to manage and balance protein etc My curls have been the bane of my existence. Imagine being in high school in the 70s when THE style was straight hair parted down the middle and blow dryers were un heard of. I had to have my sister roll it with gigantic rollers or my best friend actually used a regular clothes iron. I was very grateful when the Farrah Fawcett hairdo and blow dryers came out... LOL. I've subscribed to your channel and wish you much success. Thanks!!
I didn’t experience the 70s but I was a child of the 90s - blunt bangs and stick-straight hair, anyone?! 😂 My Protein vs Moisture video is live on the channel now - enjoy!! xx
I started with LUS. I never used the shampoo and conditioner, but used the styler. Loved it! It was a great starting point, especially after watching a ton of videos with people using tons of products in their hair (not for me!!) As my hair transitioned and I learned more, I started to think I needed a bit more hold than just the LUS leave in styler. I added a gel (Mop Top) and had the best curl days. With the gel I didn't have to put my hair up on day 2! (Though I still can't get much past day 2 as is the nature of my hair) I have switched products up to try different things, but LUS is still my fave!! It will always be on my shelf.
That’s great!! So far I’m still loving the styler in conjunction with my favorite prep and finish products :) I’m so glad you found a holy grail product for your hair!! It’s the best feeling!
Moptop? Thanks for the suggestion. Ill give it a try.
@@marisaschooley full disclosure - this was months ago! Gel is no longer a favorite product for me to use. I guess my hair needs changed, that and I've experimented with other products I like better. I use the Cake Curl Whip mousse most days now. Nothing against mop top. It smells amazing and it worked - I just like results from mousse better!
@@michelleo1706 I wonder if it's buildup. 🤔
I'm beginning to revive my curls.. this looks like a great start
I have been eyeing this product line but, yeah, high porosity hair ( I think I even have high porosity in the new growth that is not chemically treated or heat styled) really needs protein. Thanks so much for doing this video - saved me time, heartache and money!
Glad I could help!!
You gave the best explanation of why someone would need protein. I kept hearing about it but I didn't know if I needed or not. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks 🙂
Glad I could help! Keep me posted 💛
I agree. I feel like your hair is similar to mine, and I am going to look for those additional products to add to the lus products
I realize this video is from 3 years ago, however, Lus says to lightly re-wet your hair and put product on your palms and re-scrunch 👍
If you've slept on it your hair looks great. The second day you just wet and all in one again. Easy.
I would like to see how to get the perfect protein and moisture balance. Also my hair, like yours, looks great at first but then frizzes and loses shape after time, especially in humid Florida. What is the product you used after the 3 in 1 to better hold the curls? Thanks!!
It’s gorgeous
Thank you for doing this video
I’ve been n the fence with this product
Defiantly gonna give er a go
Do you use a silk pillow case like Blissy?
I've used LUS system twice now and it is a good product but for someone with very thick, long hair, putting products in sopping wet hair...my hair takes hours to dry, even if I towel dry right after. It's just not practical. Before using LUS, I would towel dry then apply mousse and my hair didn't take hours to dry. I can't see having the time to use this system. 🥴
THANK YOUUUU, I was just trying to decide if LUS was worth trying... But the problem you had with it is the problem I usually have with most stylers, so it sounds like I might need to start looking for leave-ins with proteins.. Now I have to go check if you did do that followup video, it would be super helpful for me ^_^
You can also use a protein-rich gel on top for both benefits I mentioned in one! I’m glad I could help 😊 xx
Thanks! I'll at least try the travel size......
Would have like to have seen the diffusing😉
So good - thanks! Just ordered LUS but was really interested in the 'what your hair actually needs'. I'm thinking from what you described of your curls that I need to explore protein in mine as well.
Great video. This may be a silly question but can you just let it air dry or is the defusing mandatory? Thanks for your time and again great video. Very informative.
Interested I know this as well!
Great informative video. I watched the one on protein vs moisture & forgive me, I still feel lost. I have longer hair and wonder if the length makes my hair curl just stringy?? I just read on Lus Brands page (?) If your hair does NOT stretch & it breaks that means too much protein? If that's the case then maybe these LUS product would work for me??
If I were to try the Lus products, which protein product would you suggest using WITH them. Also, since this video is a bit older, have you seen or used their Irish Moss Gel which is supposedly going to offer more hold, without being "crispy"? and--- is there a link to your video about PROTEIN do's and don'ts?- I wan to try LUS, but hesitate based on your concerns. ( I am a type 2A, according to their rating)
Any feed back re:protein would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. ;)
Thank you for a great video!!! I should get mine Monday in the mail. Can you show how you diffuse? Do you have to diffuse or can you let it air dry?
Great video, thanks! I just purchased the LUS line to try, I’d love to hear more about protein vs moisture and how to know what your hair needs - I think my hair is also protein deficient.
The Protein vs Moisture video is now available on my channel - check it out!! xx
Could you try the Pacifica pineapple curls line. The shampoo is sulfate free but it does suds up really nice
Just ordered this particular set! Im excited to try it tomorrow! Fingers 🤞.
I suggest you use a lot more water with the shampoo. That works well for me and I have the same type of hair that you do. I apply the LUS system in the shower with soaking wet hair and with my hair upside down. Love the results.
Thanks for sharing!
Was saying the same to myself while she was washing. I get awesome lather
Very curious what you mean about protein. Do you have a video on that? My hair gets soo frizzy day 2 and later. Id say I have fine hair. Thanks!
My hair did exactly what yours did!!!! Can you give me the names of the two products you added to the 3 step system? Can you also live me a message when you added them in.
Thanks so much
I just ordered my first order from LUS. I’m thinking that I’ll need to use a little bit of gel to seal in the styling product. I have high porosity hair (damaged and dry from highlights and color) and need protein to help restore my hair.
What kind of protein rich products do you recommend? My hair is exactly like yours & I've tried so many things that just didn't work 😂. But I've never heard about our hair type needing protein, so I'd like to test that route
Could you explain the protein and moisture balance? I think my hair needs protein as well!
I use LUS. I also use gel and mousse with it. I also have to rewet hair everyday.
Do you have to diffuse your hair after the 3-in-1 styler or can you let it air dry?
Just bought this for my daughter. Thank you for this tutorial. Best one I've seen.
You look gorgeous!!!
very helpful. thanks!
According to their website, their flagship products contain silk protein. Only the kinky/coily is protein free.
I can tell you that I read the ingredient list on every product bottle I have and there’s no added protein. If they’ve updated the formula since I made this video, then that’s a different story!
I am a new follower and have no idea what my hair needs, but the curls are similar to yours....help 😊
Have grey hair. My hair is wavy (2c ?) Texture is very very dry. I've read mostly comments about fine hair . I'm wondering if this will work for thicker, a bit frizzy (hate that word) hair?
Great video! I learned a lot. I also watched your protein video and found it to be very informative. I’m new to natural curly hair care. When you said you prepped your hair with Whatever Wherever. Did you wash your hair and apply that to your dripping wet hair and then apply the LUS all in one right after?
List stumbled on your channel and let me say after years of seeing random curly girl channels and majority of all that works for them sadly never working for me as much as I have high hopes lol, nice to finally run across someone who has the closest to my hair type I've spotted so far. You are a sweetheart as well and love that you have videos on any of the few brands in existance I havent already tried that I have been eyeing haha among appreciate all your great application tips which is the one area over always been a little lazy in as hate having to spend all the extra time coaxing my wave/curls. I miss my teens when my girl pattern was much tighter and I could just apply product to damp hair, scrunch and be done literally and all looked uniform and amazing. Just ordered the Denman brush after seeing your tutorial and realizing I shouldn't have been lazy about getting one all these years lol. Thank you for your channel and amazing energy, you definitely have a new follower. As far as LUS my hair comically hated this brand and I have a feeling it would as wasnt super impressed with the ingredients when scanning years ago among the magical solution to perfect curl claims as many hyped marketing lines all claim but for those with fussy curls like me desperate to find that one perfect balance miracle line I feel like we cave everytime and spend $ in the hunt. This one just did nothing for definition and hold for me among left my hair more frizzy and dry. Similar to the let down of Ecoslay products for me as much as I adore the owner and mission all those super natural no preservative mist be refrigerated type lines sound amazing in theory but are always horrendous for my hair type after always costing more and the fuss of storage and not the most pleasant scents. Ofcourse had to try for that perfect protein to moisture balance I'm always after. Cheers! 😅🖤
You might of changed my whole life. I knew nothing about protein in the hair. I'm loosing patience with my hair. It's so damn frizzy. I get one day of good hair and the rest frizzy!!!
Stay tuned for Friday - I have a whole video and blog post on Protein-Moisture Balance coming your way!! 💛
@@TheFitCurls I can't wait and your one of the very few highlights of 2020 for me hahaha I watched so many videos and learned so much. I did the Japanese Keratin treatment for three years and now my hair is down to my waist half "natural" the natural that's mostly frizzy and neglected that's trying to find the wave/curl pattern again and then semi dead straight on the bottom hahaha I'm going crazy and tired of chemicals to treat my hair! I'm going to do the Knox treatment to my hair next weekend. I just need to watch more videos on conditioners for fine frizzy hair. If you have recommendations that would be awesome! Thank you again!!!!!!
What if you had worn a satin or silk wrap when you slept?
How do you know if your hair needs more protein? Thank you
Thank you SOOO much! this has been so helpful for me! I have been using LUS products for my wavy/curly (but thin!) hair for over a year now and I have been wondering, "has my hair always been this dry and straw like? what am I doing WRONG?", convinced that it must be a me problem. thank you so much!!
My pleasure!!! Not all products work the same for all people - we gotta do what works for us!
I can't afford these kind of products...it's not fair that curly hair ppl have to spend way more money on their hair than ones with straight hair...can't they make something affordable but works too for curly hair
Hi. My naturally curly hair is so damaged an it has shorts pieces everywhere from it breaking an it's all around my face broke so short that I CAN'T DO ANYTHING with my hair.. I hate wearing it down bcuz of all the frizz an I can't even put it all up bcuz it's broken everywhere. Can u please help me! I haven't tried the lus 3 step but I really want 2 but I've been tricked so many times an I dnt have alot of money an my husband's disabled and since COVID we barely live paycheck to paycheck. Plus I have a 10yr that has to eat and that $70 could come in handy for food and I'm scared if I buy it, it's gonna not be good like the million other cool curly hair stuff that took my money an left me frizzy. So I want you to be so totally truthful with me please. Is it worth the money? Plus what else do u recommend. If I could I'd show you pics but idk how from here. Lol. Can you please please please please with a bunch of cherries on top help my rats nest of hair I have. Plus, I'm a white girl an I'm 38yrs old and my hair is extremely dry and damaged. If that helps! Lol. Thanks so much! I loved the video too
There's an Irish Sea Moss gel now for more hold
Didn't see the before, aside from it being tied up
Thanks for such a thorough review! I'd like to hear more about protein.
For the second wash when you included another product for hold like if I were to add in gel or mousse after using lus styler how did you incorporate the product? Like if I used mousse or gel after the styler should I rake and scrunch?
Great question! I typically apply a hold product with a flip-coat-scrunch technique - light pressure as you run product-coated hands over your lengths, then scrunch, flip your hair over, and repeat from as many angles as you can! xx
I use the 3 step LUS products but I must need protein because the next day my curls are long and wavy, not curly.
Do you need to diffuse your hair or can you let it air dry?
Thanks for the review, I need more protein too
I, also, had same issue with next- day dryness from Lus Brand curly set. Do you have another alternative for the protein leave-in. It looks like like it is unavailable.
I just ordered the 3step LUS products. 🤞🏻
Add water and scrunch again it will revive those curls. The irish moss gel is amazing from LUS as well
Any of you lovely ladies willing to give this mama some advice? My son is 6 years old and has curly hair. He's the only one in the immediate family. I've been trying to learn how to best take care of it. He's autistic so he won't tolerate defusing, but he does allow me to wet comb it and use product. Any tips for what to use? If it helps give you an idea
....
When his hair is wet he has ringlets. After a day they look super frizzy, thin, and limp. It's like they stretch out and start looking zigzag and straight, not curly or bouncy. I don't know what to do. 😭
My son is autistic and its hell to even cut his hair let alone try to style it. I have no suggestion on what to do but wanted to wish you luck. I do know with this LUS product you can let it air dry. You do not need to diffuse it.
My nephew is also on the spectrum he hates his hair being touched and we have yet to find a way to cut his hair where it doesn’t look chopped up in certain areas because he doesn’t like his head being touched however my suggestion would be to put the Lus styler in a spray water bottle several pumps and put a little bit of water. Shake the bottle. Spray that mixture into his hair and scrunch
Up not everyone can use protein in their hair.
Ouidad looks great for less than a day and then the curls fall out. Mine looks worse day 2. My hair is low to med porocity, thick and course 2c. Hard to find the right products.
I only bought the three in one but you used something else
Does every curly girl head need more protein, in general?? How do you know??
How would you add Cake products into this routine? I think my hair needs some protein as well and would be curious if stylers with protein help or if it needs to be in the conditioner? Thanks
So far I'm not liking the feel of this on my hair. The co dictionary makes my hair feel like straw. Step 3 takes so long.
Honestly from the initial ad for this video i thot no way. & I def thot once i saw u in the shower - she doesnt even have curly hair. I cant wait! Moreso, i cant wait to have long hair! Again :(
I think you just showed us the process that will work well with lots of products. I went and rewet my hair and tried those wet styling directions with my cabinet of curl products (Fructis, argan oil, and Mark Anthony curl cream) and Wow! Got awesome curls. I would never expect the curl to last a few days, tho. I would be content with one day of good curl.
Issues with customer service. No confirmation emails. No responses on the website.Only response I've received was on FB messenger once I realized they would respond here. They are offering me 15%off my next order on a shampoo with a faulty lid. These products store bottoms up. I lost the whole bottle.Photos in comments of my messenger connversation.
Expire date of this please
I know the owner. She is beautiful and her hair is amazing.
Did you do a video about balancing protein and moisture?
I almost ordered fragrance free for that reason then i thought "i wanna smell good"! How bad can it be? Still waiting but from what Im hearing im glad i got the fragrance kind! Sooo thoughtful though to have fragrance free line as weel 💗👌➿〰️➰
I have very similar hair like yours and I’m not sure what “protein” means. Can you expand?
Never mind…got my answer 30 seconds later
I just bought the LUS 3 in 1 system and havent used it yet. I wanted to watch a few videos to make sure I watched all the steps. I will follow up once I've used it
What the WHAT?! My curls drop like that, especially when I do CGMs. Are you telling me I need protein in my hair? THIS IS A THING?! I need more info.
That sure sounds like overconditioned hair to me! Time to add some protein into your routine and ease up on the oils and butters! Feel free to check out my Protein vs Moisture video - it’s live now 😘
Hey! I've been using their products for a little bit now but not loving how my hair was feeling dry and stringy. Now I'm wondering if I need more protein! Thanks for the video!
Was the products Worth buying?
Wait. My hair might need protein. What do I do?
I spent $89 on the 4 piece set and I'm not happy.
Thank you. Your hair looks beautiful
I wish they offered a refund thanks for this video
Goodness, curly hair is becoming a science. Wow, protein vs moisture and on and on. Kinda seems a bit tiring. We curlies can't just wash and go like our straight haired peeps.
LUS doesn’t work on my hair. Makes my hair a frizzy yucky mess. And now I know why! Mystery solved. Glad it’s not just me. 🧐 maybe I’ll try it with other finishing products.
Definitely try a gel with protein!! I recommend Ouidad’s products :)
These products did not work for me I’m so sad
Your hair looked beautiful! I didn't see anything wrong with your hair. it looks great.
Does anyone know how it is with oily hair?
You need to add water when shampooing.
Love the result. I must try. I have natural curl as well..
Great video. Love that you named other products and said where to get them. btw, a shampoo that doesn't lather is a good sign because it means that it doesn't have all that crappy drying detergent in it. Also love that you talked about protein because I used this stuff and my hair looked *fried,* worse than LUS' 'before' pictures. I don't have the shampoo and conditioner, just the Step 3. Can you please give me the link to the protein info you were talking about, and any other info you can give, i.e. specifically the best protein product I should get. Whatever you can do, I would greatly appreciate it. TY in advance.
I actually have no issue with “detergents” - including sulfate-free surfactants that lather! - as my hair gets over-moisturized and needs a good cleanse! Plus I enjoy the lather experience 🧖🏼♀️ My Protein vs Moisture Video is up on my channel now, and you can find a companion blog post with tons of product recommendations linked in the description there - good luck!!
The lus hair gel is great
Refresh with water.
this demo is the best example I have seen of the result of needing protein but not getting any. Your curls look frizz, fly a way and limp! I know that you typically have great curls. Thanks for the example! I will be more mindful for myself. Sometimes I add a bit of protein to my products if I feel the need for more.
Protein is vital for high porosity curls FO SHO!! Glad I was able to effectively show the difference! I’m always nervous to add NPF to styling products because I know it’s usually formulated to be rinsed out, so regular protein treatments and a protein-rich leave-in are my holy grails 😍
@@TheFitCurls Even though my hair is low porosity, I even need protein.
Way too much product. I can’t afford buying a new spray every week
Hey I feel you! I stick with the same 3 products most of the time 😂
I really like LUS in the fall and winter. I use the kinky-coily it has more hold and I just use more water with it. Glycerin is not my friend in the summer. Great review
Amen to that - glycerin one the summer definitely needs to be sealed in! Great tips, and thanks for watching!!
Thank you
